Well here it is another whole month and I'm still waiting for an "expedited" review of my account. My account in March was $160.01. I should have a $39.99 CREDIT which I received on June 12 and have a receipt in my possession AND NOBODY can explain why they say I paid $343 when I have a RECEIPT saying I paid $422! Never have I worked with a billing department so inept! When you buy glasses that are over $1,000 you would think they would go to get lengths to remedy any complaint a customer has. Not this place. Don't believe them when they tell you when your glasses will be done. 30 days after my exam and I still don't have my glasses. First they tell me of a problem at the lab and they will have to be remade. Then they send a text to say they are done and ready to pick up. I drive to the store and they are not there. Estimate now is 10 to 14 days. They have their money, some day I might get my glasses. read more

I have been going to this location on Greenmount for maybe about eight years and I have never had a problem. Typically, I have a really great experience until today... the first person that sat my information and then attempted to charge me full price for my in which I stated I have is it that much? She said oh what is your insurance I said are you not able to see it on my file she still seems to be having problems where she had to go and get another person to assist her I also had stated that I had had FSA send a $220 with the coverage of my contacts at the end of September. My appointment had been in the end of April going into May for my contact fitting. I just had an order the contacts yet when the lady came back she she said all the $220 went towards your past due I asked what past due bill because I've never had a past due bill ever I've always paid the co-pay my insurance always paid the balance and you can't order glasses or without paying for them upfront. She stated she didn't know she's not billing but then told me that my insurance didn't cover anything. I said so my insurance was kicked back she says no so then how is there a bill so this went back-and-forth with the lady started to yell she doesn't work in billing. She's just telling me that the 220 that was sent to be the exact amount that a bill went out for I chose to have I asked her for gave me a 636 area code number. I'm assuming she didn't think I would actually call. I called the number and some random guy voicemail came on in which I walked back in and I said ma'am, I did not ask you for this random person and I know one person doesn't work I please have the phone number she did not come from out of the back she yelled there is no number for billing. It's a corporate I didn't ask the corporate I asked for billing since you're this is a billing issue and you don't work in billing. out of the back in which there was a young lady at the counter said can I see the number who then hung up and said not sure who number that is but let me assist you. She then looked up the actual billing number and provided it to which be the correct number so now an audit is being completed on my account and I have to give billing two weeks because someone took the $220 and should not have or put it in their pockets I did state that I would not be completing the purchase of my contacts or glasses and I also notified my daughter complete the purchase of her glasses or contacts at this time within 15 minutes of me leaving the office I receive multiple notifications that all of my appointments for next year had been canceled for both my daughters and myself without me asking and without them notifying me so at this point, I absolutely will not be coming back the behavior the customer service and the knowledge was beyond horrible. I will note that this is a completely different staff than who has originally been there and since there has been a change, there has been constant issues with them. I would not recommend them to I'm a disabled and I cannot afford to have people take money from they should not be !!!!! read more

My family loves Dr Johnson and staff. They are very knowledgeable and professional. We have gone here for years. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They walk you through what your insurance will pay for. They have payment plans as well. There is plenty of parking. read more

I have tried 2 different Clarkson locations. The first one (Belleville) lied to me about not having my husbands glasses and said they checked and that they were still at the lab and it would be 3 to 4 more days before he would get them and then 45 minutes later called to say we could pick them up. We changed to the Shiloh location thinking we would just change locations and therefore would have better staff. WRONG! I called in June or early July and set up an appointment for my daughter for her eye exam for August. My daughter took time off of work to accommodate the schedule and 2 days before the appointment was notified that the Doc was not going to be available and they rescheduled to the 31st of October at 5pm. ON the 31st they called and said that apparently the person who rescheduled the appointment wasn't paying attention and that they were closing on the 31st at 5pm and therefore would have to once again reschedule the appointment. I asked when. They told me the next available was December 30th. I am normally understanding but when your daughter has needed new glasses since end of June and we have had to wait this long and both appointments had to be rescheduled because of them and they did not offer to fit her in due to their error. I came in last year for an assessment of an injury. Staff was not helpful, optometrist treated me like it was all in my head. Yet he told me I needed reading glasses... I've since asked them not to contact me, however, I receive monthly, if not weekly texts or calls from them. And they schedule me appointments without any input from me... read more

The low rating for this review is entirely related to Dr. Mark Johnson and not for anyone else at this location. Everyone else who works there was lovely and very helpful. The first thing Dr. Johnson said to me when he walked into the exam room was "What the hell?", which lead me to believe there was something wrong with my eyes in the pictures that were taken beforehand, so I asked if something was wrong with my eyes. He said no, and that he said "what the hell" because he saw that I was wearing a mask. He proceeded to say I had "drank the koolaid" and continued to rant about other patients who had come in wearing masks. I did not engage with this display of unprofessionalism, and said "I'm just here for an eye exam." Once the eye exam began, he seemed to rush through it, and even said he was rushing through it because I was wearing a mask and it would fog up the lenses (it never did because my mask was properly sealed around my nose). I told him he did not need to rush, and that there was no fog. That did not seem to slow him down. All the options presented to me for my right eye seemed blurry, so I did not speak up to mention that any specific option was better than another, since they were all blurry to me. When I did find an option that was more clear, I said so, and it was met with a condescending "finally she speaks." We found a lense for my left eye that was more clear, but we did not find one for my right eye, and he concluded that my right eye script had not changed. I told him I was skeptical, as all the options for my right eye seemed blurry, and that I had been having blurry vision generally. He threw up a line of letters and asked if I could read them. I said yes, and he responded "then your vision is better than everyone else that comes in here." Since that seemed like an exaggeration, I asked if he was joking. He said he was not. I said again that I was skeptical that I am the only patient ever able to read that line of text with glasses. He said something along the lines of "well then you try working here" and then left. It's certainly the most unprofessional experience I've ever had with an optometrist. This place is awesome...agree with Teresa don't know what all the negative reviews are about. We love Dr Johnson and the office staff rocks, best scheduling, times, care and concern. We went in here to order contacts since we had heard that they had a military discount. The brunette that waited on us was not only rude, but didn't even know the information and had to keep asking another technician. I was very disappointed with this location. I don't get pissed easily, but when I left here I was. We are ordering our contacts online. read more

My husband got his new glasses there because they take our insurance. Now he wishes he'd gone somewhere else. Not only were they rude, but they kept pushing for 'options' he didn't want or need. Then, they told him the frames he liked were "too big" even though he said they felt 'good'. They pressured him into taking a different pair, which he says don't feel good at all. I refuse to go there; I'm going to bypass that & pay what I have to at WM, which has always been good for me. read more

I don't understand these reviews at all. Perhaps when they were posted has something to do with it but I have been going to Clarkson for 4 year and have never had a problem. They are always friendly, flexible and willing to work with my schedule and the optometrist is one of the best I've ever had. I appreciate the care and attention when I am given and I like them so much that even after moving and having other options with my new insurance, I still choose to go to this location. And will continue to do so as long as the current staff are there. read more

Saw the past reviews on yelp & still returned for a 2nd visit (1st was in '11). The staff was very helpful and informative. They answered all my questions. The doctor was retired Air Force and was very complimentary about wanting to stay in the area after his service. Susie was wonderful and very patient when it came to helping select the frames I wanted. I had a very good experience! read more

RUDE! The doctor we saw, Brett, is always rude. He always seems like the last place he wants to be is waiting on you. We've seen him at 2 different locations (Shiloh and Belleville) and each time he was impatient and rude. THEN...the staff is rude. The woman who was at the desk when we went to the Belleville location was atrocious! I wouldn't have her sitting at a desk for a dog kennel! And at the Shiloh location we had one misunderstanding after another. One woman would tell us one thing but as soon as we spoke to another person they would say no she was incorrect it's actually... We were given erroneous information pretty much everytime we ever went to them. So we gave them 3 chances to show that maybe they were just having a bad day, but all 3 times we have been we were met with rudeness and an attitude like they just don't want to be there. Save yourself the aggravation and go ANYWHERE else. read more
