However, the app is very well designed with a thorough set up process for the parent, detailing the needs of your children so that you don't have to repeat yourself every time you speak with or hire a sitter-the information is entered and viewable by the sitter you confirm. This makes hiring a sitter again as easy as setting a date, choosing which sitter friends to invite, and then choosing which one to confirm of those that accept the job. I was pleasantly surprised! The app was very efficient for setting up a sitter, and Brenda arrived promptly and was a huge hit with my boys. She took them to the park, kept the tv off even with multiple requests from my 5 year old, and even got my 18 month old down in his bed for a nap (practically impossible!) As she was leaving, my 5 year old was telling her all about what they would do next time she came, he had such a good time! Payment was completely handled in the app, Brenda used the app to clock in upon arrival, and to clock out when she left, so those extra 10 minutes she stayed due to me hitting traffic on my way back home were no problem at all. The extra time was prorated and charged to my credit card so that she got paid for every minute, and I didn't have to worry about a few extra minutes costing me another hour, or any hard feelings from the sitter if she unexpectedly had to stay late. I will be using the app again, I love the speed that you can find a sitter (had 3 sitters accept in the first 20 minutes!), the versatility of time provided, and the quality of service provided. Highly recommend.

Best part, you don't hire a complete stranger. SitterFriends connects you to babysitters that have been used by your friends or members of your local networks. All SitterFriends are hand picked, vetted and trained. If we serve your area you will love our service. We don't charge subscription or transaction fees (all our fees are built into the service cost) and you pay a very affordable hourly rate (ranging from $13-22/hr depending on ratings/rankings, and experience of the SitterFriend). You get tons of features through our app: Video Monitoring, GPS tracking, Checkins and Checkout alerts, and best part you don't pay a placement fees. All fees are built into the hourly rate.

I never signed anything before they went over. I saw on their website it would cost $22.81/hr which seemed steep, but for one visit I could swing it. The coordinator, Amanda found someone to help me, Lilian. I asked Amanda over text, "Do you share my contact info or do I reach out to her?" Amanda texted back "I'll share your contact info with her and ask her reach out." Honestly it seemed sketchy right off the bat since I never signed anything and this stranger was asking how to get into my apartment over text, but I tried to have faith. I was never told to book with Lilian on their website. Then my communication was with Lilian, I asked her to go over once to help with a package I thought had been delivered. The first visit she never even opened the front door. I asked Lillian 10 minutes after she left my place if she could go back to water the plants, since I had her for the whole hour. Lillian said she could at first, then later texted me asking if she could return the next day. She went over the next day to water plants. She was pleasant to engage with and helped me with what I needed help with. After the visits I received an email from the owner, Amanda (same name as admin person) explaining there has been a miscommunication between her staff as I had booked out of their system. Again, no one told me to book on their system so I wasn't clear I needed to do that. From the owner: "It was brought to my attention that you recently had a couple of house-sitting appointments with our Sitter, Lillian, it also appears that there was some miscommunication either with Amanda DeRego (our Administrative Coordinator) or with Lilian, and it appears that we did not have your appointments in our scheduling system, or any forms signed for these appointments, but Lillian did complete the services." A few days after their visits, I received an invoice for $77 including charging me for 30 miles of travel, and a $5 late fee after not paying the invoice within 72 hours. The invoice initially went into my junk folder. Who charges a late fee after 72 hours without first alerting the client to the bill as a courtesy? Note: I live near Irving Park, close-in-Portland. So to add a 15 mile round-trip fee for every visit- I had no idea they were sending someone from 7.5 miles away, like Vancouver to my place. They asked me where I lived ahead of time, and I assumed with the name "Portland Sitters" the staff came from Portland and not a surrounding county 7.5 miles away. I asked Amanda to call me. She continued to text me which was very distressing. Not hearing me out or giving me the time to call me to discuss my concerns. I felt like I was being gaslit. The charging was deceptive, I had no idea how much travel fees would be added. They also add a 3.3% "invoice service fee" to their bill. Then later, i asked the owner to call me. I was alarmed at the owners lack of respect to call her customer. I'd consider bringing your business elsewhere. They add many fees to your bill and apparently don't have staff close to Portland if they need to add 30 miles of fees for 2 trips.
