We stayed at this newer RI north of New Haven for one night. Unfortunately given the busy holiday…read moreweekend there were no rooms available for elite member upgrade. Patricia at the front desk was an excellent ambassador for this hotel with her wonderful customer service. The room while newer and in great shape seemed smaller than the older style RI suites with two separate rooms. Otherwise it was very a nice room. The breakfast had real plates and glassware but was lacking in food choices - a bit surprising for a RI property. The price was typical and not as expensive as other properties on a holiday weekend.

Nice-looking hotel on the outside, but once inside, your experience depends entirely on whether you…read moreare on the right floor. Housekeeping does a good job of preparing the room for check-in, but service during the stay is hit or miss. When we visited, nearby apartments were being remodeled, so many residents from those apartments had been moved into this hotel temporarily. This seems to be a common situation at many Residence Inns across the US. Anyway, some of the long-term residents seemed grateful and happy with the arrangements; others clearly resented them. I can understand. Being trapped inside a studio when you may have lived in a one- or two-bedroom apartment can be hard. However, some guests were extremely noisy. The top two floors are generally supposed to be quieter, but there were loud noises, verbal fights, and arguments, some of which woke us in the middle of the night. One elderly lady paced the hallway crying. When asked what was wrong, she said she was being ignored and mistreated by her family. This is not really a hotel for Bonvoy Elite members (BEMs). All of this may be tolerable for a day or two, but it is not a great place for a long stay, especially when you are working. The Wi-Fi constantly goes down, and there is no special Wi-Fi option for BEMs. The front-desk staff was nice and accommodating, but they are employees and likely work within Marriott's administrative limitations. One day, the hotel ran out of eggs, and one employee ran out to get more. We were never told that the breakfast hours had been adjusted. Sadly, at almost all Residence Inns these days, breakfast is wrapped up by 9 a.m. Not so at high-end hotels, where breakfast continues until 10:30 or 11 a.m. Who the heck is up and ready by 9 a.m.? This is absolutely disingenuous to say that breakfast is offered but then to wrap it up at a time when most guests are ready to eat. Profiteering through cuts to service staff seems to be the direction Marriott and Residence Inns have taken. There was a time when they offered luggage assistance, nice breakfasts with variety, and clean facilities. Now, the quality of facilities and service is really shoddy. This problem is not unique to this facility; it applies to Residence Inns more broadly. Overall, Residence Inns have been mismanaged the last few years. There is certainly demand for Marriott to create apartment-like facilities for BEMs, with better-equipped kitchens, better beds, and clean, allergy-free furniture.

This is my FIRST and LAST time here!…read more I'm moving out to CT. Stayed here, with my bf and his parents, along with another relative (who flew out here to help us with the move). Checked in on 4/21. At first I didn't know what room E and I would be staying in. We asked the front desk employee for help. She was so disrespectful.. Rolling her eyes, while saying "you don't know what room you're staying in" laughing and all. We said "no, we don't". I then proceeded to give the name of the individual who the reservation was under. Her attitude went from poor to very nasty real quick! She was like "first name isn'f right lol". I then gave another name to which she then replied with "wow, okay very good haha". Like, really? How unprofessional can one be!? So.. the first room that my bf and I were given was absolutely DISGUSTING!! There is hole in bathroom door, room smelled gross, bathroom has tools and a can of WD-40 on sink counter, and it smelled like some kind of aerosol odor in there! So of course, I reached out to my bf's mom and she went to the front desk and asked for another room. The woman working was incredibly rude. She didn't want to deal with any guests. After his mom explained what was going on and how gross the room was, the employee gave us another room. As we walked away, she was acting shady. All she wanted to do was hide and be on the phone. She tried to make it where nobody could see or hear her. Well, that did not work. She stared me down and I could hear her talking smack. How incredibly disgraceful and sneaky.. for real! We went in and inspected it before getting our luggage and moving in into that room. Everything looked great.. Until we noticed mold in the bathroom! Yes, you heard that right.. MOLD on the wall of the SHOWER/TUB! TV does not work either. The toilet leaks when flushed. This hotel was so much nicer 17 years ago... It has changed DRASTICALLY! Not in a good way. The employees are nasty, They clearly do not want to work, nor be bothered. All they wanna do is hide and be on their phone! Hot tub, that is puny! Oddly shaped IMO. Pool is on the smaller side. Good thing I'm never coming back to this DEPLORABLE hotel. It's gross and poorly up-kept!!

Immediately after going to the room to put my things down, I ran right back out to run errands, and didn't get back to the room until 5:30pm. (I left back out at 7:00 pm) I return to my room around 2:30am the next day and found a nasty bug crawling on the wall--it appeared to be a bed bug. I could NOT pack my things fast enough--I was disgusted. I probably spent no more than 4 hrs total in the room and was told at checkout that I would have to come back the next day because the manager wasn't "in". (The worker had no clue what to do...BS) Long story short, I called later on that day and the manager told me that I was just trying to get my money back--very absurd. Mind you, I live about 50 mins away from the hotel, why would I want to drive home that early...please let me know? I legit started itching and could not function...I had to go. Anyways, he told that me I would only receive 50% of the cost of the room back, which was baffling because I did not spend the night. He began to argue with me and told me that the hotel had been renovated and there was no way I could have found that bug--I am the one who brought it there. (Renovations doesn't mean cleanliness smh) Moral of the story- if it looks like a motel, RUN! They advertise themselves as a hotel, has nice pictures of the rooms on the web, but the place smells awful and looks very identical to a motel. Sure, it's $76 a night, but do yourself a favor and stay at a hotel that is far more credible. (Marriott, Red Roof Inn,etc.) Needless to say, I will NEVER stay here again and will be contacting BOOKING.com to get ALL of my money back. P.S- I killed the bug and put it in a plastic bag and gave it to the worker at the desk, she didn't look surprised at all.

Didn't snap any photos of the outside, I don't need any bad juju! The lady at the front desk seemed harmless. Didn't talk to her other than to check in. She was dressed in pajamas which I mean-- based off the looks of this hotel I suppose that's fine, but maybe at least try a little when you're working a business? The narrow, steep, 70s styled stairway up to the room absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke the whole time we were here. The room we were in was smoke free, but I'm not sure about the rest of the building. Wasn't too thrilled about the smell, especially because of my toddler. All of this being said, the room we stayed in (201) was definitely a surprise to us all when opening the door! It was actually nice and SUPER spacious (which was great to allow my 2 year old to run crazy), two beds, two couches and the regular things a hotel room includes. The room itself when we first arrived was absolutely freezing cold we had to crank the heat up to about 85! We left soon after however and when we got back the room was incredibly toasty. My guess is they don't bother using heat in a room when no guests are there. The doorway to the bathroom was SO narrow. If a heavier set person would have needed to go in, I hate to say this but I honestly don't think they would have fit. You definitely couldn't have more than one person going through the door at the same time, even sude shuffling. And there was also a weird step/mishap of flooring both entering and exiting the bathroom, so if you didn't notice it, you very well could have landed on your behind. Along comes the morning and the free breakfast....Or lack thereof... We went down at 9am, anticipating a few or a least one person to be there. Empty. They had two cereals (Raisin Bran and Cheerios), a gallon of whole milk, a few bananas, a few mini muffins that looked like they came from a bag, and a broken coffee AND broken orange juice dispensers. We skipped this place and opted for Dunkin' next door....thank God it was there!! Overall I mean yeah, the stay wasn't bad. But I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone or look into staying here again....sorry!!

All staff were incredibly nice and did try to solve all of the issues that we had. First room they sent us to reeked of smoke. We literally opened the door and then walked right back out to the front desk. It was terrible. In our 2nd room the tv was broken, maintenance could not fix it so they offered to move us to another room. At this point, we had already unpacked and we were staying for a week so we decided just to stay in the room with no TV. They offered us one free breakfast for the inconvenience. Since the breakfast there is not free. I went to use our free coupon for the breakfast and we were limited with the choices if we had a coupon. If we were just out right paying for breakfast, there were more options but not for the free breakfast with the ticket that we got for the inconvenience. There is no microwave in the room. The bathroom and coffee bar area are very small. Our last night there the AC kept switching itself over to heat. The maintenance guy came and tried to fix it, but he could not. So at that point we had to pack everything up and move to another room at like 1 o'clock in the morning.

It's like the hotels in From Dusk Til Dawn and Devils Rejects had a baby and then allowed to grow feral. I mean, impressively awful. I didn't fetch the keycard (easily the most modern aspect of this place) so I can't speak to service or friendliness. To describe it accurately is nearly impossible. Doors with huge cracks. Windows with curtains whose gaps are covered with duct tape. Lamps missing shades. Outlets that don't work. Stained mattresses and pillows (no mattress or pillow protectors). Ill fitting sheets that also have tears fixed with tape. Nary a wall without a cracked between either the floorboards or the adjoining wall. Bathroom windows painted over with duct tape holding the glass to the frame. Open fixtures in the bathroom. Toilets flush is questionable at best. And that's just the room. Filthy halls and walkways. Broken mini fridges and trash littering the halls and walkways. Glass all over the parking lot. We slept in our clothes on top of the bedspread (the stained one pocked with cigarette burns in an allegedly no smoking room). I have never been so eager to leave in my life. We booked it before 7AM. spent a total of roughly 6 and a half hours IN the room and immediately changed and washed everything that touched the room as soon as we got home. I've been a homeless teen and had cleaner and tidier sleeping quarters outside.

My boyfriend got the place for $70 (after the strange front desk lady told us a receipt would be $5 extra?? Not sketchy at all, nah). We get to our room and the place reeks of cigarettes and weed. There were multiple cigarette burns all over the blankets. The lock on the door wasn't only broken, but it was knocked out of the socket so people can easily look inside. The mattress was covered in plastic bags. The heater was broken (note: snowstorm). The phone was filthy and missing buttons. I found several little hairs on the bedding and the sink/tub. The pillows were paper thin, gave us one each, and literally moldy. I called the front desk to ask for more pillows and she said, "No." I repeated myself, thinking she misheard me. She said "No. No pillows. All locked up." I literally laughed out loud at her before hanging up. I'm not exaggerating. It was the last straw when I started getting itchy all over. So we up and left. Roughing the storm just seemed like a much safer option than staying here. So. Like I said. DO. NOT. COME. HERE. I don't care how desperate you are. We were. This place is really just too small with not enough restroom capacity and inadequate parking availability. We stopped in while travelling for a restroom break and to fill up the gas tank. Parking was the first challenge as there was not one single available parking space. Because of this, people were parking at the gas pumps which made fueling our vehicle pretty time consuming and tedious. There was a line at every pump but half the pumps were occupied by unattended vehicles so we waited about fifteen minutes just to get to a pump. After gassing up I just circled around the lot until a parking space opened up. Besides the gas pumps and restrooms there is a convenience store, a Subway restaurant and a Dunkin' Donuts shop. We were only interested in the restrooms when we entered. There was no line for the men's room which was reasonably clean and stocked. The women's restroom had a lengthy line so our quick gas and restroom stop ended up taking us well over half and hour. I appreciate the location of this service plaza right along the highway but a lot more thought should have gone into the layout, design and capacity of the facility.
