Just moved from NY to NC. We organized the move with Mayflower who seems to have contracted our move out to Clancy. The Mayflower team was very kind an helpful throughout the process, which was complicated due to unexpected changes. Clancy's mover team was very fast, careful, and pleasant to work with. Following the move, we found that we were missing a box. We went through the claims process with Clancy, which was quite frustrating. It turns out part of the frustration was due to a communication error that neither side was fully aware of at first. Once this was discovered, Lisa, the claims manager notified us that the box could not be found, but worked with us to find an amicable outcome. read more

Clancy says United's fault. United says Clancy fault. had Seamus come out twice to give me an estimate. When the movers showed up, the main moving guy (who kept asking me how to spell things for his log sheet) complained to me the entire time that I was not charged enough, there was more than he was told, etc. It was exactly what was on the sheet that Seamus wrote down. It made me extremely uncomfortable. I'm sure he was trying to pressure me to giive him money - and more than just the tip. He was creepy. I reported this to Todd and Seamus. I had an $800 litter robot and told them please wrap this very carefully and box it because it is brand new, fragile and expensive. It arrived only wrapped in a blanket and completely crushed and broken. All because this guy was angry at the quote Seamus gave me. Seamus assured me that I did not need the additional insurance because Clancy did not want their reputation ruined and always paid to replace items anyway. I was very clear on the insurance coverage but was told I did NOT NEED IT!! Of course, when I reported the item, sent in photos they immediately said it was United's problem. I asked Todd for information on how to escalate it and never heard back. The United guys who unloaded me were even stunned how poorly Clancy packed the litter robot. Maybe I just got a really bad moving crew from Clancy but this was not a good moving experience. I used United because of their reputation but Clancy was an unexpected disappointment. read more

We paid over $14k to this company for an interstate move. They lost our desk (A DESK!? How does anyone lose a desk?), our office chair, a large basket, and FIVE boxes of our items, including a wardrobe carton (it's like four feet tall, how?). Save yourself and look elsewhere! They treated our belongings like trash. At delivery time their guys were using some strap to carry boxes, which crushed them. Boxes were upside down even though "up" clearly marked. Boxes marked "fragile" were crushed and some had holes punched through the boxes! When I tried to speak respectfully to their team, all I heard back was "we have been too busy" -- I said they should have told me that up front and not taken the job. They had no problem taking our money, but they refuse to make right about this. I paid $450 extra to have full value coverage. I informed them of these issues in August, I filed a claim in September. Their claim team refuses to respond (it's been over a month), and when they were originally responding, they refused to get timelines or explain their self-adjudication process. We have a very detailed claim in for over $8,600 worth of lost and damaged items and they won't respond. Reality is a lot of movers are scams, I have no idea if they paid people to write other positive reviews, but this move was horrible. Also, I have been trying to communicate with this company and sent dozens of emails to various people there. I told them three weeks ago if I don't hear any response I'm contacting BBB and posting this publicly. They didn't care (they didn't respond). read more

One of the first questions I asked Mark the sales person was ability of the crew to speak English. He said that the crew leader at least would speak English. Turns out first day was true, second day not so much. That was annoying as it made everything else somewhat more difficult. I can get by in Spanish but not Portuguese. During the day they moved us to the new house I would periodically notice things in the wrong room. They could not find one of our pole lamps. The nightmare began after they left. As my wife and I began to unpack, we found many poorly and misleading labeled boxes that they packed. All boxes had an extreme excess of paper, even boxed of casual clothes. They charge per packed box. I'm guessing more paper equates to more boxes, increasing their revenue. We never found our coffee maker and we are still finding boxes in the house that should have been put in storage. Also we are finding boxes 2 floors away from where they belong. My move experience with Clancey was nothing short of horrific! It took such an emotional and physical toll on me, that some two years hence, I am just getting around to posting my review. I have from Michigan to New York - New York to California - California back to New York - New York to Virginia - Virginia to Philadelphia - Philadelphia to Connecticut, and now DC. THIS WAS THE WORST MOVE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. The damages I suffered could only have come from carelessness and a lack of professionalism. * My wooden bookcases arrived with damages: scrapes, gouges, nicks, that didn't exist before the move because the movers had not wrapped the furniture. When they were moving things out, I asked them if they were going to wrap things, and they assured me that they would. Clearly that did not happen or my furniture wouldn't have arrived damaged. * My custom made dinette set arrived with two pieces missing, making it impossible to assemble. This set survived multiple moves damage free. The fact that the CT crew managed to damage it in the way that they did, is highly suspect. * My stand-up desk and stool must have been yanked around, because they are no longer fully functional. * One set of speakers had the cabinets scratched, and dented, because they were not wrapped. * Three of my banker's boxes had to be thrown around because they were cracked in several places. * My umbrella stand was bent, as though it had been crushed under the weight of something heavy. * My wooded CD holders got scratched, again because they were not wrapped. * Two of my high value lamps must have been yanked around, because they don't stand upright any more. * Two of my husband's ceramic bowls which were gifts from his grandparents in Germany were cracked. I once observed one of the movers packing ceramic pots with no wrapping paper - he was just stacking them inside of one another. When I saw that, I asked him to wrap each one for protection. Why did I as the customer have to point this out to someone who is supposed to be a professional? I didn't see him pack these particular bowls, so clearly his lack of care resulted in damage. I was badgered into changing items listed as high value, then the movers proceeded to damage those very items! It took brute force to remove the two missing pieces. They were not loose, nor easy to remove. It was extremely distasteful that I was told my property was not high-value, and asked how much I paid for things. I also later learned, that the movers left belongings sitting in a warehouse unprotected. This definitely contributed to a lot of the damage. I was personally treated with much disrespect, as was my property. I have come to believe this was racially motivated. I therefore would NEVER recommend using this company/crew. I made a claim for the damages, and was paid a nominal amount, which was not a reflection of the value, pain and suffering caused. After 'interviewing' 4 moving companies, we chose Clancy for our move from Westchester County NY to Erie County NY. And it turned out to be an excellent decision. Throughout the moving process, they were excellent communicators - keeping us apprised of schedules and timing. All of our requests were met in a timely manner. When we requested boxes, boxes and packing materials arrived the next day. Nothing was a problem to them. Our pool table, our grandfather clock, our numerous paintings and other artwork, our treadmill, even our palm tree were all accommodated - and all arrived at the other end in excellent condition. The moving crew was prompt (9 am Monday morning on the dot) and quick. They built crates for the artwork and decorative mirrors. They took special care with lamps and antique furnishings. They were quick and efficient. They finished loading the van early in the afternoon on day two. Day three was 'drive day' for them (and us). And day 4 was the unloading and installation process at our new home. All went according to schedule. Moving is not fun; but Clancy made the whole process much less strenuous. WARNING - POTENTIAL THEFT!!!! So I used Clancy for my move from NYC to Boston in May. I had packed most of the apartment myself except for my artwork because I wanted to make sure it was professionaly handled so it would survive the move. It should be noted at this point, that I don't really own a ton of valuable stuff - most of the furniture is IKEA or hand-me-down, the rest was just clothes and crappy kitchenware. The one thing that was both of some monetary value and of such a size that it could be missed, was a print that I had purchased for quite a bit of money (at least for me) a few years ago and had grown very attached to. I also alerted the movers to this piece's importance, hoping that they would use extra padding and wrapping to make sure it arrived safely. Everything made it up to Boston in one piece and according to the manifest all the picture boxes had been delivered. Unfortunately, I didn't see the print go into a box - these guys were nice and polite so I just trusted that it had made it in. When we finally got around to unpacking our pictures last week, everything was there... all the value-less family photographs, the cheap, ancient posters, the halfway decent cast-off painting my grandma had given us... the only thing missing was the one piece that had some actual value (which I had foolishly pointed out to the movers.) When alerted of this issue, Clancy customer service was very nice, but ineffectual. Instead of calling me back, they chose to email me (which given how upset I am about this, seems callous), to let me know that nothing had gone wrong on their end and that they weren't responsible. I hate to imply that there was wrong-doing, it's possible this was just an honest, unfortunate mistake. But whether through carelessness or malintent, one of my prized possessions is gone and anyone who thinks about using Clancy Moving in the future, should be aware of this incident and exercise the utmost caution. read more

We recently moved from Hartford, CT to Chicago, IL and used Clancy Relocation & Logistics (operating as our local agent for United) for the move. We were really pleased with the service most of the way - Mark Chisholm and Robin Ficarelli were extremely helpful in getting us ready for the move and making sure we fully understood the estimate, payment details, moving schedule, etc. It really couldn't have been easier from start to finish and our final bill was even a little bit lower than the initial estimate, which is always nice to see! The only reason this isn't a 5-star review is the movers were nearly 2 hours late on our moving day, and our driver (he also moved us out & back in @ the new address) could definitely stand to improve his interpersonal skills; he had a tough time taking direction from my wife throughout the process. I do NOT recommend using this company if moving across the country and needing storage before your move. Reid Whittmore, the sales representative assured me Clancy was the right company to do my move.... They were the most expensive and more than $1500 more than other moving companies. I only had a 2 bedroom/dining room/living room apartment. I thought I would get better quality service.... Boy was I mislead and soooo wrong! The one thing I can say about Reid is that he was exactly on the money about the exact amount of my move. I got a whopping $45 refund. I was quoted $8,512.00. I moved from Harrison, NY to Las Vegas, Nevada and Clancy Movers/United Van Lines damaged 7 pieces of my furniture! All the pieces were 7 years old or NEWER. Thank goodness for the insurance! My entire wood sleigh bed had to be brought to the repair shop and not fixed in my home because the damage was so much! In Las Vegas the other set of only 2 moving guys who brought my furniture forgot my dining room table top and had to bring it the next day because it was left in the warehouse. When I did receive it, it was scraped on 3 sides. This table top was only 11 months old. I was also never told my furniture would be put in another warehouse in Las Vegas. I thought it would come straight from New York on the truck. On a positive note: The furniture repair guy was absolutely amazing! He took so much care and pride in his work. And he had a lot of work to do. My furniture looks like new. Though 7 pieces should not have been damaged at all. I wish I could post the photos of all the damage! The pics alone would make you pass this company by. So lastly please.... If you love your furniture, please think twice before using this company for moving across the country. read more

A city move can be tricky, but Clancy arrived early, found a parking spot, swiftly and without damage loaded our belongings, and just as carefully settled everything into our new space.
