I've only been seeing Dr. John Clancy for about 3 months now, but the office is run quite efficiently and the wait to see the doctor is never very long. So I get in and out quickly but I don't feel rushed. The doctor is also efficient, but I get to share my issues and get out pretty quickly but without feeling rushed. However, appointments are very hard to get, when I called they were scheduled 3-4 weeks out. I ended up getting an appointment with one of the nurses. I had an insurance change and decided to go to with Clancy Medical Group. First off, I want to mention that Anna Graves PA who I had my initial appointment with was amazing. She was a great provider and very patient going over my medical history. My one star review comes from Dr. John Clancy and the office staff. I had a prescription that I have been on for 8 months that was prescribed by my previous PCP (internist) and just needed to continue on with my medical plan with Dr. Clancy's office. There were no issues continuing a few other of my prescriptions but one they absolutely refused to fill (it was not a controlled medication). They referred me to an endocrinologist to get the prescription. Low and behold when I got the referral and called the endo's office they immediately said they do not prescribe that and to go back to my PCP. Then called back Clancy's office and the front staff basically told me sorry I cannot do anything to help you are out of luck.... Fast forward to the next day (I have been going through this process and spent 12+ hours on the phone with my insurance, my pharmacy, my old PCP, and Clancy's office) after my insurance filed a complaint and my insurance called me back to let me know what my options were. They let me know he would only prescribe it if I went to a dietician for 6 weeks... which I ALREADY DID 2 years ago and told them about during my appointment. I am now changing my PCP immediately to hopefully get a higher level of care and a doctor that will actually listen and read past medical records. The level of stress that this entire situation has caused me on top of losing what was my amazing primary insurance and having to change doctor's was extremely upsetting. Steer clear if you are looking for an actual MD not an Osteopath who really only approaches holistically and does not listen to patients. Also, the office staff will tell you that you you are out of luck with the continuance of a previously established health plan with another doctor. read more

I've been going to this office as my primary care for a few years now. I have always been able to get scheduled very quickly when I call for an appointment & I never have to wait super long in the waiting room either. The healthcare providers I've seen (Rachel Watters, PA and Shannon Baker, FNP) have been very friendly, understanding, and explained everything thoroughly, I have never left an appointment with questions. They are quick to provide referrals to specialists when necessary which I appreciate as it's uncovered a lot of health problems for me. I've never had a bad experience here in the time I've been going. So glad I found this practice! read more

DISABLED? SINGLE PARENT? BEWARE! The people here are wretched. If you are confused, and need to clarify any kind of information, or have questions, because of your disabilities and you are forced to call a few extra times in one day. They will discriminate against you for needing extra guidance and they will automatically discontinue care and call you a nuisance. Super unprofessional and disrespectful to their struggling new patients, they will treat you like you are beneath them, simply because you had questions and needed to call them numerous times in one day. This isn't something you do every day, but one day is enough. I wasn't rude or a jerk. They literally have zero reasonable excuse for what they have chosen to do to me. Despicable people and not worth the wasted time, runaround, and unnecessary and unjustified headaches. Ashley is the only decent human being in the whole office that I interacted with. You do not want to subject yourself to this kind of sketchy weird behavior I promise you. I'm a lot sicker since having to deal with them. Please contact me directly for a referral to a decent and kind doctor's office I found connected to CHG- Medi-Cal. They will not discriminate against you for having disabilities and for needing extra explanation or needing extra help. worst primary ever. i won't go into details as this is regarding health but he forced a blood pressure monitor on me, told me 'medicare pays for it'. got a call from his office a few weeks later and asked why i wasn't testing my bp...i was! they told me to bring monitor back so they could reprogram it; 22 miles each way. did not do it. without my consent and without disclosing, they billed my insurance and me monthly for 'monitoring my bp'. how could they when they didn't have monitor programmed? scam-fraud in my book. i was then told if i didn't bring monitor back they were going to charge me $40...contradicting what dr. told me. my hubby was dumb enough to stay with this quack a little longer than me and brought my bp monitor back. now i am getting billed for it again! horrible place. anywhere else would be an improvement. so many more things to complain about but this example should give you an idea. read more

I have been going to Dr Tara Clancy for several years. I find her and her staff to be accommodating and always helpful. She is always willing to listen and take needed steps. She does not treat if she feels that you would be better served by a specialist. I love her and continue to go to her even though I have moved out of the area and sometimes have to go to online appointments. She is very thorough and I appreciate that so very much! They are still listed as a medi-cal choice but after setting up the appointment and taking all your information saying it's "all good." I highly recommend Dr. Tara! I moved to North County three years ago but struggled to find a primary care practitioner that I clicked with so I made the drive down to San Diego to see the doctor I grew up with (40 minute drive)! Then I came across Clancy Medical Group earlier this year. I've seen Dr. Tara several times since the birth of my daughter (thank you hormonal changes!) and the staff has always squeezed me in right away. Dr. Tara is compassionate, efficient and attentive. So I rescheduled to make an appointment with them the day that they canceled my appointment but to top it off apparently they never really rebooked my appointment that I booked with them and the girls at the office were just messing with me. I've found CMG when dealing with a severe case of flu while pregnant, after my previous MD could not see me for days and advised me to go to the ER. I am a very healthy individual and hardly ever need doctor's care, and it was very frustrating to me that the last two times that I actually needed help, I could not get an appointment for days. Not the case with Clancy Medical Group. I scheduled the appointment for the same day and I was super impressed by everything about the office. It is brand new, clean, new medical equipment, quiet, just perfect. You are not afraid to touch things, as it is with many medical buildings. The staff made us feel extremely welcome. I saw Dr. John Clancy who dedicated plenty of time to me and my case. He was very friendly and attentive. He was spot on with his diagnosis. I consider CMG my new primary care physician. read more

Medical sent my daughter here they scheduled me for 1 and told me to be early. We got there and no one was there so I called and they were all at lunch. So we waited after getting to see Dr my daughter told me how uncomfortable she was as was I. And they offer nothing on site like xrays or shots. So we then went to the offsite xray place and they sent in the wrong order. So we changed the whole primary doctor for her. I do not recommend this place to anyone they are clueless. read more

I've been seeing Tara Clancy since 2019 and I have never been impressed. She is nice enough but under-prescribes and refers out on EVRYTHING. She always put a lot of emphasis on my weight and losing weight. But even after I struggled to lose weight with diet and exercise she refused to prescribe a weight loss supplement that I used in the past, that successfully helped me lose weight. Today she denied me anxiety medication for an MRI and told me to go to my orthopedic specialist for it. Same with my daughter. Dr. Clancy also denied her ADD medication even though and it had been prescribed all her life by her pediatrician. Doctor Tara cares more about her medical license, than your medical symptoms. She does the bare bones minimum and denied me treatment because she is too scared to prescribe medicine that is potentially addictive. And if you have pain, do NOT go to her! Pain medication/controlled substances is a hard NO for her. read more

I really wanted to like this small practice as I came from a large medical group and was going around in circles not getting much in the way of answers. Pros: Booking is super easy. Staff is friendly. Quiet and clean office. Covered by my insurance. My first appointment gave me hope as the doctor (John) seemed to have an understanding of my frustrating situation and seemed to want to help. Cons: He seemed annoyed with me. I gave him a break because I have been through a lot and can be all over the place with questions. So, at first I didn't hold it against him. On my second visit I came in more calm, and wrote down a few key points to discuss with him since he seemed overwhelmed by me. I though if I can narrow it down that would help. I was wrong as he didn't want to hear my questions and actually said 'put your little laundry list away'. He was frustrated that I wouldn't take the medicine he prescribed, but personally I don't do the 'take this pill see if your better' approach. I want diagnostics before I take pills, not just see if this works meds. I felt very dismissed, maybe this is just not the doctor for me. So I switched medical groups (again) in search for a doctor that isn't about pill pushing. While I was waiting for my insurance to switch over I became sick. I thought ok, I am going to see him once more about a different issue maybe he can help with something not so complicated as a chronic illness. Went in and within 5 minutes I was out with yet another prescription and another try this and see if it helps explanation. My chronic issues can be traced back to over prescribing antibiotics, so I only take them when I absolutely need them. Upon exam he lead me to believe there was no predominate sign I needed antibiotics, but suggested them anyway with little concern for my questions. I was really quite frustrated and happy to be seeing a new doctor soon, this was just not my cup of tea. I want a doctor that takes a more holistic and diagnostic approach, not a take this and see if it works. When you are really suffering its really hard to play the sit and wait game, especially when often times medicines can do more harm than good. Side note: On my first visit I was offered the flu shot, I went ahead and accepted it. The nurse who administered it to me spent the entire time she was prepping it telling me how sick it made her, how she couldn't eat over the holidays because of how nauseated she was. I wanted to say well never mind then!...but felt bad as she already opened it. Maybe they can note to the nurse that you may not want to talk like that before administering medication. Seems like common sense but apparently not so much. read more

Tara Clancy was my doctor and she was not helpful. The office staff never followed up with me when I asked and she didnt either. I once waited for answers regarding meds she prescribed and no one called me. I finally got a through to her via her after hours operator and during the convo Tara hung up on me. I told her I would leave a bad review and true to form Dr.Clancy didnt ask what was wrong or how she could help. She just said she would discharge me as a patient. I have never felt like this before -like worrying about my health or having too many questions about my health is a problem. Horrible doc. Wouldnt recommend. I had recently moved to the Oceanside area and needed to find a new dr. Immediately I found Clancy Medical Group and was thoroughly impressed by the reviews. Scheduling and the staff are great. However , when it came to addressing issues with Dr Clancy , not so great. If you're looking for someone who listens and actually sends you out for blood work etc he's definitely not it. He will make you feel as if you know nothing of what you're referring to. Several occasions where there were no follow ups from emergency room visits along with referrals that needed to be sent. If you needs doctor that listens and understands your needs and wants , you should continue looking elsewhere. read more

This is a clear warning. Stay away from these people. The most unprofessional and rudest medical group I have ever seen. The only good thing is that they have a lot of open time slots and there is probably a good reason for that and that's why I came here. I came here because waiting times were short but I can see why. I have gave them opportunities and opportunities and they keep disappointing. Never had one good experience. The whole organization is completely incompetent. I am thinking about reporting the medical Board for his lack of care and inability to follow through to what he promised . Out of good faith, I even tried to be nice and complain to Dr Clancy personally the last time I was there so he could improve his staff and gave him friendly feedback regarding his office but they keep getting worse. I have frequent kidney stones and I have been to the emergency room 4 times because of Kidney stones. Last time I went to Emergency room, the Doctor at emergency room suggested I have pain killers handy Incase I have a kidney stone so that way I can avoid going to emergency room and waiting 5-6 hours and just be able to pass my kidney stones at home. I told Doctor Clancy that and he told me that he can't write me prescription and to call him when I have the kidney stone then he will just give me the prescription at the time. So a year passes and I am having a kidney stone which is excruciating pain one can have and I call the Rude and unprofessional Sam that works there and she says that she is not sure if the doctor will get back to me today and maybe he will get back to me tomorrow morning. Unable to show any empathy and concern, Granted it was late at 4:30 when I called but I told her it was an emergency and at least she could call me back before end of the day . She just said that she can't guarantee calling me back but she "will do her best". I said why can't you just call me back And why why wouldn't the doctor call me back when it's a emergency and she told me to call him when I having this emergency. She wouldn't listen and kept saying if it's an emergency then GO The emergency room. I waited for them to call back and when they didn't, I called back and she said he is seeing a patient and he might not be able to call back until tomorrow. I just didn't u deer and why he couldn't Call me before he leaves? Sam was not listening and kept talking over me and I told her she was being rude and telling her she needs to listen to what I have to say as I am the patient then she says ok the Doctor can now talk to you and the doctor Clancy gets the phone and says I haven't seen you since 2019 and I can't help and hangs up Yeah I been going there for years but because of Covid I didn't go In 2019. When I called to schedule an appointment, they told me to go to emergency room last time I called because they were scared I might have Covid. That's why I haven't been there for a while. Pretty hard to see the doctor when the doctor does want to see you. Unfortunately, Dr Clancy only cares about making money. If he is not getting paid or charging your then he doesn't care about your well being and does not follow through through his commitment. The staff needs to be trained on customer service and held accountable. They keep screwing up left and right. Last time with my records being ordered, it took them A week to fill out the paper work correctly and they kept blaming it on the hospital. Just do yourself a big favor. I am not lying and I have no reason too. I was very patient with them and they don't deserve your business. Unless you want to do to a doctor that just wants to quickly see you and charge your insurance then by all means go here. I left a review about my experience with this office last week and the review was removed. I had a scheduled appointment and I was 45-minutes early for my appointment. As I walked in I realized that I had forgotten my insurance card. The receptionist said you can go back and get it and if you make it back by your 3:30 appt it will be ok. I rushed home filed out the proper paperwork and had my copay as I walked into dr. Tara Clancy's office at 3:30 my scheduled appt. The receptionist said, "I know your appointment is 3:30 but I am going to have to reschedule your appointment. You had to be here 10-minutes before your appointment. The receptionist should have told me before I left the office to pick up my card that I should just rescheduled the appointment but she did not. I had never experienced such rudeness, I was there at 3:30 at my scheduled appointment and I was refused medical care. Maybe if I had been Caucasian the receptionist would have treated me with respect. I am also perplexed as to why review was removed?? read more

To start off, I initially switched to Clancy Medical Group because of the good reviews that this office had and the care they had for their patients. And they were right. They are extremely friendly, especially all of the staff. I was always greeted with a smile every time I entered the office and treated with respect by Dr. John Clancy and his staff every time I showed up and/or called in. When scheduling appointments, I had no issues with their patient portal or calling them in order to meet up with a staff member at the office, and it was extremely easy to do so. I also had no issues with discussing my health concerns with Dr. Clancy. He was very professional and offered sound advice. The issue of this clinic comes when I tried to get updates on my immunizations for school. This office lacks communication skills. My first portal message was sent on 9/27/18 with the required immunizations and what I already had. I was able to schedule an appointment on 10/03/18 and after meeting up with Dr. Clancy, I did get some vaccines and booster shots to get me up to date. For the vaccinations that were required but not on my record, he sent me to get titers and blood tests at Quest Diagnostic to see if shots were necessary and those results came back on 10/06/18 namely for Chicken Pox. From the beginning of October to the middle of November, I had to keep calling in, messaging, and following up on my immunizations which was extremely frustrating. I had a deadline to submit my health history for school and the office and staff were either slow or noncommunative until I sent another followup. I would do this every week at least once or twice a week. (I will have to admit that some fault should be put on my school for letting me know some extra vaccine requirements that I needed last minute but that is still not the main issue). On one occasion, I overheard someone mentioning that I had a positive titer for a vaccine but when I checked my blood record through Quest Diagnostics, it read as a negative titer which means I still needed to get a vaccine shot. This group had known that I needed the Chicken Pox vaccine for more than a month (beginning of October til the middle of November). So then why didn't they tell me that they didn't have this vaccine at their clinic when they found out 10/06/18? I needed time so that I can prepare this for school and look around myself. As I said before, I consistently followed up with them until 11/13/18 which is when they helped call around for pharmacies and other locations that may have it or would be covered by my insurance. However, the locations they called either didn't have the vaccine or didn't accept my insurance. I ended up having to call around myself and go out of network to an urgent care and paying $150 for this vaccine out of pocket when this vaccine something that is typically offered at clinics and is covered by insurance. This is something that I had to do in order to meet my school's deadline at the beginning of December and was something that I disclosed to Clancy Medical Group on numerous occasions so that they know the time-sensitive nature of it. Overall, very nice and friendly people and I'm sure they didn't mean any of this. It was just frustrating and disappointing to have to deal with all of this and unfortunate that any of this happened. read more

When I first came to Dr. John, I was a mess. I was diabetic, but couldn't get my meds right. Resulting in massive infections and very sick. He switched me off insulin and on to Victoza. Instant change. He added and removed meds here and there and its been 2 years, I feel great. This is not your average doctors office. The people here are genuine. I found this office when my special needs uncle came for an appt that I accompanied him on. Now I see Dr. John, my dad sees him, my husband sees him, my uncle and soon, my mom. I just had my first appointment with Dr. Clancy today and I am beyond impressed with the care that I received. I got more accomplished in one visit here than I did in 20 years at my old dr. I don't have great insurance and as a result most dr's just try to get me in an out as quickly as possible. Dr. Clancy treated me like a person, not like an insurance payment. He took time to listen to my concerns and discuss my treatment plan options with me in detail. Everyone here from the front desk to the medical assistant were very welcoming and helpful.
