I got my ears pierced at Claire's in February and followed all of their instructions, including keeping the starter earrings in until April. The earrings they used had very tight "safety backs" (I was later told these are typically used for babies/toddlers so they don't pull them out). When it was time to remove them, the backs were completely stuck. I tried for over a week and they would not budge at all. My ears became irritated, red, and started to develop discharge because the backs were so tight and trapping everything against my skin. I went back to the store for help, and they told me they do NOT remove earrings -- even though these were the ones they put in. That was really frustrating, especially since this issue was directly caused by the type of backing used. This review is specifically for Thao. Backstory: My 13 year old got a second piercing along with a cartilage piercing 2 weeks ago (so now she has 3 holes on each ear). This was not done by Thao and I felt the customer service was sub-par. Today we were in the area and stopped by because my daughter's left ear seemed extremely irritated (red, puffy, and my daughter said it hurts pretty badly while her right ear didn't hurt at all). Thao treated us like any other customer rather than as a "walk-in" (person who did the initial piercing made it clear to us that everyone else in the store mattered more to her since we were a "walk-in" even though we are also a paying customer for the 2 piercings and we were there over an hour before we were done and out the door!). Back to Thao: She was absolutely amazing and Claire's should be so proud to have her as an employee! She was very honest with my daughter (about the pain she was going to feel trying to take out the cartilage piercing) but also extremely kind, caring, and compassionate! My daughter had my 2 granddaughters' ears pierced with them, and Claire's never honored the free earring offer, even after talking them multiple times. I recently went to this location to get my ears pierced and had such an easy experience that I decided to take my boyfriend's 13 year old daughter there today. She got three piercings on each ear and we are just beyond happy with the whole experience with all thanks to Mari for her EXCEPTIONAL service. My boyfriend's daughter was nervous and Mari was so calming and gave her comfort by keeping her informed and involved during the entire process. Mari marked on the ears where the intended piercings would be and then consulted with my kid to ensure she was happy with the placement and then rechecked and updated the markings with each piercing to ensure they were symmetrical. Claire's doesn't charge anything for the actual piercing, you only pay for the "kit", which is the earrings you choose and the cleaning solution. When Mari was finished with all of the piercings she very thoroughly gave instructions on how to clean the ears and had my kid do it right there to make sure she understood the process. The level of attention and care we received was just amazing and Mari was so extremely patient even when my kid started changing her mind and was getting anxious.I ended up adding an extra piercing on my ears as well while we were there and it turned out to be a really thing for us to experience together. We called ahead and they said you do not need an appointment, but it is good to have one because if someone has an appointment they will be prioritized over walk-ins which made sense. It's a tiny store crammed with all kinds of items for young girls (scrunchies, jewelry, journals, bags etc). They were able to help my sister right when we got there. The woman that pierced her ears was super sweet and very knowledgeable. She went over everything, including after care with us. We felt confident to proceed. It took seconds to peirce and I think we were in and out in less than 10 minutes!! Piercing is at no cost but you must buy the earrings from them. They had a good selection to choose from, we went with yellow and white gold (she had two done in each ear). They're in a large shopping center with lots of parking - on the second floor. My daughter has nervous but I could tell that she felt comfortable with Nick. Like other reviewers have suggested, I would recommend getting both ears done at the same time. This Claire's Accessories store is amazing. I came into the store the first time to get my second piercing on both my lobes done. I ended up coming back for my third piercing on both of my lobes, some buy-two-get-one free sets of sensitive solutions jewelry, and some bracelets as well. I got all three of my lobe piercings on both ears done at Claire's Accessories. I got my first one done at a Claire's in a mall when I was in high school. I recently got my second and third holes pierced by Jessica at this location a couple of months ago. I've read so many negative articles and reviews about not getting your ears pierced with a gun at malls or other places that are not designated professional piercing parlors but I've had no problems with my lobe piercings when I got them done here. I think it's okay to get your lobes pierced with a gun at Claire's but it is probably best to get your cartilage piercings done at a professional piercing parlor (I'm thinking about getting two cartilage piercings done soon). I have had good experiences with getting my lobes pierced here. Jessica was very kind and patient with me both times. We triple checked and quadruple checked the markings before we decided to finally pierce them. The actual piercing process was not as painful as I imagined it to be. It was quick. I do recommend buying a couple of cans of H2Ocean to care for your piercings afterwards, though. I did not really like the aftercare solution that Claire's provides. Be sure to not touch your ears if possible and be sure to not remove or even move the piercing earrings until they heal up. Both of my piercings took about 8 weeks or so to heal up, two more weeks than Claire's estimated period of 6 weeks. I like the selection of starter earrings Claire's provides. I love the selection of sensitive ear solutions earrings. They are gorgeous and the stones sparkle. The earrings can compare with some of the more expensive stud earrings I have. I wear them every day without any problems or sensitivity. Five out of five sparkling stars. Thank you all for your service. I definitely walk into the store whenever I'm free. read more

6 Stars for toddler ear piercing! Took my daughter and her friend (both just turning 4) to get their ears pierced. I called before hand to make sure they could do two ears at once so my daughter didn't chicken out after one and we ended up looking like a pirate. Sure enough they did do two at once. They gave me the days and times when two people would be there so I had available options on getting it done. I DO RECOMMEND calling before hand b/c two ppl have to be on staff to make this work, plus it helps the employees prepare. Nastasja helped us and another girl ( i wish I got her name so I could thank her too) Both wonderful with the girls. Patient and made it fun. Neither 4 year old shed a tear. After stopping at a fancy jewelry store in an attempt to get my two little girls ears pierced, I was given the run around and excuses after a 15 minute wait for the piercer. So I decided to take my money and my business someplace else. I decided on Claire's because not only was it close but also because I grew up in this neighborhood and have stopped in here many times since it first opened when I was a little girl. The shopping center that it sits in is clean and in a nicer suburb. And when I called to inquire about ear piercing, I spoke with a very friendly and well-spoken female employee, which also helped me feel more confident in my decision. She also mentioned that if I was interested in having my girls' ears pierced at the same time, it would be available after a certain time. Which wasn't something asked about; however, I really appreciated that it was offered. When we arrived, Marissa took us in right away. She was as she had sounded on the phone- very professional, nice, and super patient. She showed me the selection of earrings and made some recommendations. She thoroughly cleaned the equipment and her working station. She took her time marking my daughter's ears, making changes where she thought it needed it and allowed me to look and make changes as well. After the piercing, she went over after care instructions and I even got to pick out some goodies for myself. Between Marissa and myself, we got fours ears pierced and hardly any tears at all. Cute place. Seems like a good place to get your ears pierced as I see a lot of people doing it. Their selection of earrings seem to be mostly the cheaper metals. However they do have one small case of better quality products. I can't wear the cheap metal as I'm allergic so I am very conscious about what I purchase. I love that they have so much more than just earrings though. My daughter could spend hours in there looking at everything...it's sometimes difficult to get her out of there. Had new ear piercings. Very nice help. It was fast and painless. And my ears are fine 8 weeks later. I got a 20% off coupon with the piercing. Whenever I try to use it, it is cheaper to buy in multiples than to use the coupon. I guess I have to find 1 thing I really like to use the coupon. This is much better than Piercing Pagoda in the mall. That is a lot story but to make it short, too many babies with too many relatives taking pictures at and behind the counter.
