He never bad mouthed the other company either. He even wound up saving us time and money by being able to use the parts that were installed incorrectly the first time. The previous company told us they ordered the wrong parts and we'd have to wait for the new ones to come in. Overall, very happy with KBS. We're going to call them again for another job and we absolutely recommend them!!

Extremely Disappointing Experience - Nearly $15,000 Spent and Still No Resolution…read more We purchased a Carrier heat pump system from Kermit B. Schulz & Sons for approximately $14,600, expecting a reliable heating and cooling system backed by a reputable installer. Unfortunately, this has turned into one of the most frustrating purchases we've ever made. Since installation, the outdoor unit has made an extremely loud gasping or honking noise during its defrost cycle. The sound is disruptive and completely unacceptable for a relatively new, expensive heating system. After numerous follow-ups and months of frustration, Carrier's distributor conducted an onsite evaluation, and Carrier eventually authorized a replacement outdoor unit. We hoped this would finally resolve the problem. Unfortunately, Kermit B. Schulz & Sons has proposed charging us an additional $5,326 for us to upgrade to a Carrier Performance model, bringing our total investment to nearly $20,000. Even more concerning, we've been told there is no guarantee the replacement will eliminate the original noise. During a conversation about the proposal, we were told the equipment cost difference was approximately $2,400, with the remaining amount attributed to markup. We understand businesses need to make a profit, but given the circumstances, we hoped the company would consider some flexibility. We've proposed what we believe is a reasonable compromise and followed up, but have yet to receive a response. To make matters worse, the system has now developed another problem. Since yesterday, it has started making a loud gurgling sound whenever the heat is running, in addition to the original honking noise. What has been particularly disappointing is the amount of time and effort we've had to invest just to get these issues addressed. We've repeatedly had to follow up, escalate concerns, and push for answers. It shouldn't be this difficult to resolve problems with a relatively new system. With winter approaching and major construction about to be underway at our condominium complex, we're increasingly concerned about getting this resolved in a timely manner. We genuinely regret purchasing this Carrier system and wish we had kept our previous Trane unit instead. We expected much better given the significant investment we made. We aren't asking for anything unreasonable. We simply want a properly functioning, reasonably quiet heating system and a company willing to work with us toward a fair resolution. Unfortunately, based on our experience to date, I cannot recommend Kermit B. Schulz & Sons. I sincerely hope they will take the opportunity to make this right, and I would gladly update this review if they do.

I recently bought a home with forced air heating. I realized as soon as it started to get chilly…read morethat one of the heating vents didn't work. When I went down to the basement I discovered there was a pipe that had come totally disconnected at one of its joints, and as a result I was heating the basement instead of my living room (yikes!). I played around with it a little but was afraid to move anything too much in case I made things worse. Over the last two weeks or so I've called probably 5 or 6 HVAC companies to come and check out what seemed to be (in my 100% unexperienced opinion) a fairly small repair - some were no shows, others claimed to be overbooked, and still others wanted to charge a pretty high fee just to come and take a look. Today I called ServiceRight, and was pleasantly surprised to hear that they'd come out the same day! They do charge $175 to come to the house, but they explained that if the repair was a quick fix then they wouldn't charge any more than that. If it was a longer job they'd waive the $175, but begin to charge by the hour with a minimum of 4 hours. I'd had other companies want to charge a fee to come out and then by the hour on top of that, so this seemed fair (also, I was pretty sure it would be a quick fix). They arrived a few hours later, put everything back together, secured it with screws and tape (which whoever installed the system should have done in the first place), and that was it. Now my living room is nice and toasty. If only I'd called them weeks ago!

I called on a Saturday morning after learning my tenant's A/C wasn't working properly. The…read moretechnician was quick to move the conversation to text where he explained his rates and refused to answer any questions (like when he expected he could come) until I agreed to the service change. After agreeing and asking the question two more times, he responds "before 5pm," effectively the entire day. I think to myself, no big deal--he'll let me know when he's on the way so I can communicate that with the tenant. Flash forward to 3pm when he says he's on his way. I immediately inform the tenant who advises me he had stepped out but would be back in 5-10 minutes. I informed the HVAC technician immediately but he doesn't respond. I eventually call him only to receive an attitude on the other line saying he left the moment he realized no one was home. We argued for a bit until finally my tenant called him and pleaded with him to return over an hour later. Once he actually arrived, he charged me 3 hours of labor (over $800 total) for ~15 min of troubleshooting and a deep clean on the condenser... a task that should've only taken a pro ~45 min. If you value honesty and good communication, this is NOT the company to call. To make matters worse, upon learning of this review, the technician proceeded to harass me via text with all sorts of insults and slurs.

After living in my condo for a decade and depending thousands on my flawed HVAC system, Boucher finally offered a viable solution, while assisting with oil to gas conversion. The work was done meticulously and I am thrilled with outcome. Technicians were responsible and completed the work in the promised amount of time. Recently needed a service call and system cleaning and they with less than 2 days notice arranged appointment on Christmas Eve! Technician arrived at 8:30 am on the nose. One day I noticed my water tank had a slow leak. I contacted Boucher Energy since the tank had a lifetime warranty. They were very rude over the phone commenting on how I did not have an annual service contract and had not purchased anything from them in years. They scheduled a technician to come out 2 weeks later and look at the leak. The day of the appointment it was snowing. There was only an inch of snow on the ground. Boucher called me to cancel my appointment due to the weather. Who doesn't work when there is only 1 inch of snow on the ground? At that point, the leak had gotten worse and I had to put several towels down daily to absorb the leaking water. I was told by Tina that the service manager would come out the following week to personally inspect the water tank. The day he was scheduled to arrive, he never showed up or called. The following day he calls me and says I can just send him pictures of the leak. What a joke. It's now 3 weeks since I first called them and the leak keeps getting worse. Now they tell me that all they needed are pictures of the leak. I send them the pictures and they order the replacement tank. When the tank comes in, they call me to schedule installation. A few days before they are scheduled to come out and replace the tank, the leak is so bad that I have to put 5 towels down every 3 hours to absorb the water. I email the service manager Monday morning to see if they can come out right away so the tank doesn't burst and flood my finished basement. Below is his email reply. Alex found the problem easily and fixed it right away. The old furnace is running strong since then. Highly recommended! Update: My other furnace was old enough to retire. So I again hired Smart Climate to replace both my old furnace and AC. When it came for choosing the right HVAC system, Alex was very patient to discuss about the system I wanted. He was willing to provide the cost on different brands and types of systems. And he would give professional recommendations on the sizes of the systems. In addition, he was willing to deal with any concerns I had. For example, my old furnace had the gas ball valve inside of it. I told Alex that I would want it to be outside of the furnace. And he kept that in mind and made the adjustment when installing the new furnace. On the day Alex came for the installation, he would kept me informed of his arrival time. And he was always on time. After he was done for the day, I found no mess anywhere he had worked at in the house! After installation, he would tell me what regular maintenance is needed to keep my system running. For example, changing the filter 2 to 3 months! The quality of work is just amazing. To be honest, by looking at the pictures he had posted online, I can already tell that he is confident at the quality of his work. It also shows that he is passionate on what he is doing! From my personal experience, I have no regret hiring Smart Climate and it is worth every penny spent!
