I am all about a good mom & pop joint, however this one was 100% geared towards the locals and long time patrons of the establishment. The service was great after the five minutes before someone spoke and got me a menu. They catered to the folks who were there for some type of special. My food was bland I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich which I didn't finish because it lacked seasoning and the breast was cut up into strips. They are not what they use to be. Over the last 4 years they have changed ownership twice. Well the new owners are clearly trying but they still have a ways to go. From there country fried steak to there catering fish. Changing the head cook would go a long way. The good - nice little local joint with lots of regulars. The bad. If you aren't a regular good luck with getting service. Ordered gumbo and hush puppies. Gumbo came out almost cold. Spent 7 minutes trying to get waitress attention. NOPE neither one of them. Walked it up to the counter. Explained it was cold. 10 minutes later and it's finally brought back. Luke warm. I can only imagine they only put it under a warming light. Heck put it in the microwave for 2 minutes. Now I believe in tipping with the concept "the size of your tip is directly related to how full my iced tea glass remains" I asked for light ice knowing that way I get more tea. Glass comes out over the top full of ice. Took 5 mins and glass was empty. Waitress took glass for refill and NEVER CAME BACK not even to bring my check. 15 minutes later I was aggravated and just went to pay bill. Needless to say when the girl saw I didn't have a check she didn't know what to do. Finally got a check and paid. Gumbo gets a 5. Decent but basic. Hush puppies gets a 3. Small and hard and no flavor. Service gets a 1 for at least friendly even if delivery of food and drink was poor. read more

Sounded like an interesting place to try while in town. Kind of a hometown country restaurant. Not a real big menu. My daughter and I tried the gumbo and seafood bread for starters. The proprietors are quite friendly and the food was tasty. We tried the seafood nachos, catfish sandwich, the gumbo and the beignet sticks (one order was more than enough to share between 3 people). The restaurant is currently only doing takeout only. The staff inside were wearing masks. Everything on the menu seemed reasonably priced. Definitely a small business I'm happy to support. read more

They have a huge variety of food so it's pretty much going to please everyone who's with you no matter how picky they are. Today I was craving fried fish and popped in for a pick up order. 8 pieces of fried catfish with a side fried okra was amazing! Thank you for seasoning your food!! Very good place to eat. We found CJ's several years ago on a recommendation from a local motel clerk. We've always been very pleased with the food. Generous portions and reasonable prices. Today I had a half shrimp poboy with house made chips for only $6. The shrimp was well seasoned, the bread just perfect. Eddie had the stuffed crab platter - 3 stuffed crabs! He says these are the best he's ever eaten. Service was great. We will be back on our next trip to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. read more

I ventured to have breakfast at CJ's, it was only the 3rd day they were providing this option. I ordered the 3 egg omelet, I asked for ham & cheese, but they did not have ham so I Asked for a sausage egg and cheese omelette the Omelette arrived but it was only a cheese omelette so I had to send that back. The hash brown potatoes were almost burnt did not come out with the toast I ordered but when the toast finally came out there was no butter on it and there was no butter on the table when the omelette was remade it was delicious I got the butter by the time I got the omelette and toast my sausage was cold so overall the meal was OK but they're trying to work out all the issues. I have never been disappointed here so I have every intention of going back I would also like to point out the wait staff needs to spend more time checking on the customers read more

I got the all you can eat catfish, it was crispy and perfectly seasoned! I usually don't like tartar sauce from restaurants, but theirs is very good. Their portions are huge too if you're into that. Food is great! The grilled oysters are some of my favorite in town!

We had the smoked prime rib and it was delicious. The service was great and the food even better. I will be back soon.

The catfish is good, but if they burn your food, or mess up the order, they get attitude . They don't see anything wrong with that.

Food is good. Service not so good. We loved the catfish, steak and Po Boys. The only recurring problem is the service. Waitstaff is definitely less than friendly and spend too much time talking amongst themselves. Too many teen employees standing around on their phones. CJ'S was opened a long time on Central Ave but sold the location and were closed fo a while. They have been open in the current location fo several months. They pride themselves on all fresh home made everything including salad dressings. It is the very best seafood restaurant on the gulf coast hands down. As a mztter of fact, it is the best I have ever eaten and that encompasses a lot of restaurants on the east coast and the gulf coast. The only one close is a small on the outer banks of NC in Salter Path! Casual dining and reasonable prices. I always have the fried seafood platter. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Oh, they also have steak chicken etc. but i have never had anything but seafoob. There are always family members waiting tables, cooking and bussing tables. read more

Got our food finally nothing exceptional about the oysters or shrimp. Ate the poboy without having our drinks refilled or even being checked on by the server.
