Price wise, it's unbeatable in this area. As far as what the price gets you...well a student edition that's slower and therefore abridged. There's a lot they simply don't have time for as the student tries to rush through everything in about 45minutes. The first time takes longer as there's a review of your intake forms, and a discussion on what products to use during this facial. After cleansing, an instructor comes in to check your skin and advise the student on what to do and what products to use. I found this process useful for determining what products I should and should not use. I came back and scheduled with the same student just to get an idea of how much my skin might've improved after following the instructors advice. Very useful. They student double cleanses while streaming your skin. There's always makeup removal even though I've tried telling them I have permanent makeup and no additional makeup on. I really wished they would add this to their chart so we can just skip all this "makeup removal" when no makeup is worn. Anyway, after double cleansing there's an inspection, in my case exfoliation, a mask, and then some treatment as necessary. I assume not everyone has the same treatment as we have different issues to address. Overall the rooms and tables are comfortable. They play pleasant music. It's meant to be a relaxing spa experience. However, as they don't have any lymphatic massage included, or bring any of the facial down to your neck/chest, it really feels a little j complete. There's also not been any extraction even though estheticians usually would extract.

Can you FURTHER IMAGINE the absolute horror of the Beauty School calling you to tell you that the stylist didn't come in today and they need to reschedule your appointment to Monday or Wednesday of next week?? Well, that's what Aveda just did!! An ENTIRE SCHOOL and you only have one stylist that can do what I needed done (wash, deep conditioning and leaving her natural hair as is)! New teachers came in and out and even the graduation was pure chaos and disorganization. What broke the camel's back for us is this - Upon our first tour with our daughter, we made it very clear that she lived in Maryland, will take the exam in Maryland and will work in Maryland. "Will her courses from this Virginia school apply to Maryland State Board?" We were told yes multiple times. Now that she is done with the basic and masters, we then find out, "well no, you have to take it in Virginia and then transfer it to Maryland"... that's not what you said. We got approval for her to take the exam in Maryland just for her to find out only 5 questions applied to her learning. When she asked her teacher, why it was so different, she said "well I don't teach to the Maryland exam". We have since run into several Marylanders that were told the same thing. Why LIE? Not omit... LIE. Now my daughter has to go throw a series of hoops that wouldn't have applied to her if they did the right thing to begin with. I cannot wait until she is done with this school. I plan on telling every soul that asks, do NOT register for AVI. Please, please do not.

They do men's and women's hair, but this review is only of the women's hair service. My wife had her hair cut and colored with a base color and highlights today. The price was quite reasonable ($68 for all this) but that's really the only positive thing we can say about ACCH. The staff and clients here are heavily Latino, which wasn't a problem for us. My wife is from Peru and it usually helps in salons if the provider speaks Spanish too so there aren't problems due to miscommunication. My wife wanted everything the same as she had before from another salon -- same cut, same color, same highlights. She had photos (of a model, not of her) that she had used before to show the cut that she wanted. The problems started describing the cut -- the woman cutting her hair disputed with her how the cut was done (it's layered in the back, but she insisted that it wasn't layered). The cut she ultimately did is straight across in the back, not layered. I'm totally fine with professionals that I'm buying services from having opinions, but in the end, after everyone's had their say, the client gets to decide. In this case, my wife was the client, but the woman giving the cut just did what she wanted. This continued with the color. For a base color, my wife just wants her natural color, unchanged. The color is just to cover any gray. The woman showed my wife the color she proposed to use, my wife told her it was too light, and again she argued with her. "No, it's not too blonde" -- and then goes ahead and uses the color she prefers rather than what my wife wants. The highlights are just badly done. Highlights should be fine, and should start at the root. in some places these leave 3/4 inch of hair dark, then the highlight starts. In some cases it's way too wide -- more than 1/2 inch. It looks like stripes of blonde painted unevenly onto her head. We won't be back. If you're very hard up for cash or just don't have any opinions about what you want, ACCH might be OK, but otherwise you're likely to be disappointed.

I wrote on the electronic form they sent a day before my appointment that I was pregnant. Disclaimer, that if you speak with your OB GYN and even most spas, they are willing to give hydrafacials to pregnant women because it is not harmful to the baby. Just Google it if you don't believe me. However, it is at the discretion of the salon as to whether they will do the facial or not. For this particular salon, the owner did not tell me she had an issue with performing the facial until I arrived! And as I'm about to walk into the room, she says "I will do another facial on you but not the hydra facial because you are pregnant." Listen, if you don't want to perform the facial because of liability or whatever your reasons are that makes sense, but please be professional and call me ahead of time. Don't try to give me a different facial I don't want and make me drive 20 minutes in the middle of a week day to then deliver the news so you can at least get some money out of me. I thought that was unprofessional. Especially since I had filled out an electronic form stating I was pregnant the day before coming in. The women working there seemed really nice and the establishment was clean but you can't waste customers time like this. It is a colossal disappointment and very unprofessional.
