I called to inquire about a military discount and the owner answered and provided me with a discount code. They give you about 2-2.5 hours to decorate your lamp. Our instructor Kayla gave us step by step instructions and was available for help as needed. You choose your size lamp you want when booking online, however if you decide when you arrive to choose a different style/size they can easily change it and you pay the difference on the spot. You have a choice of a variety of colored tiles and they have a template of various designs to choose from or you can design your own. You also get to choose the colors for your filler beads. Once your lamp is completed, the instructor attached the bulb and the base and she lines up everyone's lamps lit up. It was a cool experience to do for my birthday, someone else was celebrating theirs as well. Although make sure you bring your patience, focus and best fine motor skills! Although, i'm not local - we drove up 3.5 hours, they do have some other pretty neat workshops to try.

The state of the world and motherhood has heightened my anxiety over the past few months so I was feeling completely frazzled and fried when I walked into my block printing class. Two hours later ... I felt like an actual person again! The experience was a lot cheaper than a therapy session and to be honest, a whole lot more fun. There is something about learning something new, making art (good or bad!), and connecting with neighbors of all walks of life that really fills your cup. The comfy little cabin, green pastures, and little menagerie of horses, baby goats, and llamas helped as well. The Grounds of Livev just opened with plans to expand into an event space, gardening center, and more over the next few years. I am so excited to have found such a wonderful little space that is not too far from home to relax, learn, and grow. We got to meet the owner and several of her family members, and they are very passionate about creating a space for the community. They offer classes for children and adults, so there truly is something for everyone here.

A huge fan of Luckett's Community Center!…read more The center is housed in an original 1914 schoolhouse, overseen by Loudoun County's PRC, and they are the home for the long-running Lucketts Bluegrass Concert Series! A favorite musician and band of mine was visiting, so we were ecstatic for the evening! The venue holds about 150-200 seats, and concerts do get sold out; they do offer a waitlist. And, like one of the attendee stated, 'there is no bad seat in the house' - it is small enough where there's no obstructed view! The sound system was great! The staff are all volunteers, and they are pretty friendly and helpful! If you got the munchies, there's a kitchen onsite that sells hot dogs, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, homemade treats (such as brownies, pies, and cakes), packaged candies/chocolates, and canned soda and bottled water. We tried their all-beef hot dog and a honey bun cake, and both just hit the spot and were super tasty! Prices are extremely reasonable! They also have licensed preschool classes, afterschool care, childcare, and pavilion rentals available. There is an adjacent parking lot, but the entrance is off the main road, so you just have to walk around.
