She was also willing to work with me and my visual impairment even though it seemed to be her first time having a visually impaired person in her class. She seemed nervous about it, but she was willing to put that aside, and we negotiated the parts of the class that would be safe for me to participate in (I didn't really want to try the soldering anyway lol). I think that was the thing that most impressed me, she was willing to step outside her comfort zone, and for someone who is teaching a new art form to a bunch of people who are probably stepping outside their own comfort zones I think this is a great quality to have! But no, everything has remained the same excellence! "I just want someone up the line to know that I am overflowing with happiness this week! I have watched [my child] in the app and my heart is filled with warm fuzzies. Ms. Helen and Ms. Wei are rocking the classroom! The children are so engaged! And they are doing so many things! What I am seeing in the app, without even exchanging words, is evidence that [my child] is receiving exactly the care and learning opportunities and adventures that I anticipated when I toured with Ms. Sabrina and opted to switch to this school! The main factors that drew me to Karter was the opportunity for [my child] to move around, not be stuck in one classroom all day and the varying enrichments to keep engaged. Aimee who is the director at this location will allow her son to assault your child and do absolutely nothing about it because she refuses to address unacceptable behavior coming from her own child. How can we trust our children in someone's care who operates like this? The family and I will be requesting a video of the assault that occurred on 7/22/24 at approximately 4pm. In-addition, I have email correspondence between Aimee and I regarding the incident where she stated "After viewing the video footage, I was able to get the context of the situation and I too was appalled at how long the situation went for without adult intervention." So much so, my son doesn't want to leave by the end of the day. We are considering the drop in program so he can continue his fun throughout the year. There are some stand out teachers here that really care about the kids and try their best. *My advice would be if you have a special needs child to call ahead of time and talk things out with Mike( owner and manger). I did have a negative experience with one teacher. I don't really know what she was thinking! It was her fault that the bully knew my child struggled with (dyslexia) reading. I had informed the front desk that he would need assistance and was reassured this would not be a problem at camp. The young woman had the audacity to walk up to my child Point to her shirt and ask him to read it. Why the hell she thought that was a good idea, I don't know! Even when I tried to talk to her about it, all she could do was dodge the questions repeat I'm sorry with a tremendous amount of anxiety. She explained "I did it just to see if he could and it was not in front of the class". Yet the boy across from my child heard everything and immediately took advantage of this knowledge along with this buddy. This disruptive child seemed to have control over most of their peers due to the fact that they feared his bullying would intern be turned on them. Upon pick up, three days in a row I observed how disrespectful the child was to the teachers. This young boy created a very dysfunctional classroom environment! I believe the teachers and the owner did their best to correct the situation as it was brought to their attention. As my child attempted to defend himself his reactions became noted by the staff as engaging. My son is a black belt. I'm not worried for his physical well-being! I was concerned for his mental well-being. My son explained to me that he had to ask the teachers to move the child to a new location After he needed to scream at for the child to leave him alone. Thankfully they listened, and this seems to help some. The ignorance of the young woman choosing to test my child rather than take my word for it caused a lot of issues and unneeded distress! She is to blame, and unfortunately I don't feel she actually comprehend what transpired due to her choice. Even after talking to her and apologizing she still lacks comprehension. Some additional staff training would be helpful in this scenario. I do want to note this is a new business. They are going to need to keep working out the kinks as they deal with children from all different backgrounds and the parents with different levels of involvement. *My advice to the owner is to never say that a mother should not be concerned and should let their child work it out on their own because they are Old enough in his perception. He insinuated that I was doing some form of helicopter parenting, enabling my child from developing independence. I'm sure if my child had a roundhouse kicked the child in the chest he would've been singing a different tune. I know for a fact that this was a concerning situation! Thankfully the dysfunctional child was not there this week, so we could and have had an authentic experience without his disruption. If he returned and the situation continued, I was going to addressed the parents my self!

They were also able to accommodate a start date several days earlier then anticipated. My kids have been here for almost 6 months! And my how they've grown! My daughter has blossomed into a beautiful toddler, helping take care of the other babies, saying good morning and good bye each day to all the teachers and Ms. Maria and Ms. Lena! We can't start the day without a hug. She loved her infant teachers, and her toddler teachers are amazing!!! And my son, he hates when I pick him up early. He enjoys Tiny City and is happy that his class has grown from only a few to many. He's "the man" in the preschool classroom in the evening when they are combined, which he loves. He enjoys helping the other kids.

The teachers are so loving and clearly care deeply for the kids. My baby bursts into a big smile each morning when we drop him off with his teachers. We get daily updates on bottles/food and diaper changes, plus photos of him solo and him interacting with the other babies in the classroom. The facility is clean, and the admins are welcoming and also know the kids by name. We've loved TCA so far and would certainly recommend to other parents!

Pros for Winwood are 1) their flexibility with variations of 2-5 half/full day schedules and 2-week payment vs inflexible options of other places 2) Ms Tish is super welcoming and understanding while giving the right level of authority that even my Monkey listens to 3) All the validation to show that my child is cared for, socializing, and having fun (there are daily reports, photos, a video camera access). 4) Covid-conscious - the staff does all necessary protocol and teachers are properly masked. 5) My kiddo is super happy between learning about volcanos and chasing around his besties trio as dinosaurs 6) While we have moved away since but Ms Katie and Ms Nimisha still are at the tip of my kiddo's tongue for being such caring educators. In summary, Ashburn truthfully has a lot of great and affordable child care options (in comparison to where we are now), but we made the best choice with Winwood.
