Mango and Lemon Gelato
Sienna J.

Amazing Gelato!!! Me and my family were looking for a gelato place that didn't taste fake or was so sugary but this one was perfect and the best part was the price was not very expensive. I loved the sweet and sour taste of the mango and lemon. If you are ever need a sweet treat go there it is amazing!

The place was highly recommend by the locals. I was looking for pastries and found them here. It's a small store with really good stuff. I recomend to take your order to go. I think I tried one of each of the pastries. I would do it again. The pastries some of them are small enough not to make me feel to guilty for what I was doing. They have a big reputation for there Cannolis. I had to try one. I can see why. The shell is nice and crunchy. I had a cinnamon shell one. They freshly fill it up for you with a fresh sweet mixture of ricotta cheese and then you pick chocolate chips or pistachios to add. It was delicious. I am an officially a cannoli lover. When in Rome look this place up. The service is ok but pleasant. The pastries are good.

Stopped here before our tour and it was perfect! Greeted warmly, great selection of pastries, staff was super friendly and helpful. Definitely get a cannoli!! One of the best I've had.

With many different bakeries to choose from in Rome, I think Ciuri Ciuri gets a bad reputation for being a chain. However, I personally think this is one of the best cannolis I had while I was in Rome, and I tried quite a few! They have a few locations around the Rome Center and if you happen to find one open I highly recommend you stop in for a cannolo or two. The way to know wether a place has a good cannolo or not is wether or not they fill it in front of you. While the prefilled and decorated cannolo towers in front of pastry displays may look nice, I guarantee you they're soggy from the shell being in contact with the ricotta all day long. Ciuri Ciuri knows how to do them right! They'll get a freshly made shell and fill it right in front of you and proceed to ask you if you'd like it dipped in chocolate chips or pistachio. If you can't decide on one, get one of each on each end! The end result is a perfectly crispy outer shell with a creamy, not too sweet ricotta filling. Amazing! I dream of the day I can go back to Rome to enjoy some cannolis from here again. Add it to your list!

Cannoli! They fill it for you upon ordering. You get your choice of toppings, we went for chocolate chips all the way :P The shell is crisp and fresh. The filling was cool, creamy, flavorful, and not too sweet. They offer a lot of other goodies as well, including gelato. Their mini tarts are delicious too. Fresh fruits on top of a creamy and cool custard. Employees are friendly and helpful. Cute shop to drop by if you're looking to satisfy your sweet tooth.

This bakery isn't much at first glance however their pastries are superb. A local Rome resident recommended this bakery to me and I have to say that she was right. The bakery has very reasonable prices and offers a variety of gelato, cannolis, marzipans, and cookies. They have a lot of pistachio options. My particular favorite was the marzipan. For two large cannolis, one medium cannoli, one small cannoli, one marzipan and two cookies the total only came to €12. there are seating areas above the store and refrigerator full cakes for Takeaway. There is an ATM but it isn't currently working.

Solid gelato and ok Italian pastry. Add to the plus column that they have lots of seating upstairs and a bathroom!!! They might even have WiFi (didn't check)!

We found this place while walking back to our hotel, and stepped in on a whim. The cannoli was FABULOUS! It was filled right then, and we got to choose our filling as well as the topping. It was one of the best cannoli I've had in Rome. Would definitely go back again!

Ooooh my gosh the cannolis here are delicious!! You wouldn't expect it from it's simple exterior but this place houses the best cannolis I've ever eaten and the best I tried in Rome. We ordered two large cannolis and two cappuccinos. Everything was reasonably priced and the staff (owner?) was very friendly. If you find yourself in Rome please do yourself a favor and stop in for a treat. You have to. You won't regret it!

Came here by accident on my first visit to Rome after exiting the metro, the gelato was amazing then and it is just as I remember it. I decided to yelp it to see what others had to say, and was shocked at the low ratings. So after reading a couple of the low rated reviews it was clear that most of the reviewers that gave low ratings clearly have no idea what they are talking about and shouldn't even be writing reviews. On my first visit I ordered the melon gelato, and words could not describe how amazing it was. It was as if I was biting into a perfectly ripe, juicy piece of melon dripping down the side of my mouth. On this second visit, I decided to celebrate my last night in Rome by treating myself to a familiar treat. After making my way across Rome by foot, with only a vague knowledge that it was near a metro. I finally found it, and rushed in. Luckily there was no one there, just like the last time. The nice guy who works there promptly assisted me, and I ordered a large pistacchio and pistacchio with ricotta. I quickly payed and rushed to sit at the near by stairway (just like last time). After I took a quick snap of it, I started to devour it as it was already dripping on the side of the cup. This must be what Jesus's tears taste like, it was so good I wanted to bathe in it.

Was looking for somewhere to get cannolis while in Rome and found this place close to where we were staying! Cannolis were delicious, we got it with pistachio and chocolate chip (double sided). We also got cappuccinos and shared a tiramisu. It was all delicious and the employees were very nice! The cannolis had perfectly crunchy shells and the ricotta filling was just the right amount of sweetness. They only charge 3 euros for a cannoli and a cappuccino. Well worth coming out for! We didn't have any room for gelato but I bet it's delicious as well.

That means almost 50 years of driving thousands of people insane with pleasure from utterly amazing ice cream. That is a good way to spend 50 years. * * * Most Italian Gelato places are very consistent. If one flavor is good, they all are good. If one flavor is fake or artificial, they all are fake and artificial. That said - despite La Romana's full range, The establishment is known for one distinctive flavor that is very much their signature. Crema dal 1947. Crema dal 1947 is absolutely and utterly insane. It is an eggnog custard gelato subtly flavored with lemon zest. It is the most creamy dreamy lemon cloud dessert every made by any human being. Just to get an appropriate placement within the lemon family, I paired it with a plain lemon gelato. Rome has absolutely amazing lemons. Plain lemon gelato almost anywhere is die-and-go-to-heaven good. Putting eggnog custard creamy dream Crema dal 1947 With bracing in-your-face screaming lemon-lemon-lemon traditional gelato Was like pairing Margot Robbie as Barbie with Amy Winehouse singing her soul out. I want to have that ice cream cone tonight, tomorrow, the day after that, the day after that and every other consecutive day for the next consecutive 50 years. When La Romana becomes 100 years old, I can think about changing flavors. But it is hard to argue with perfect perfection.

What I liked most is how consistent it is--whether you go for classics like pistachio or something more indulgent, it always tastes rich and high quality. It's the kind of spot where you can tell they really care about what they're making. The vibe is simple and focused on the gelato itself, not anything flashy, which honestly fits perfectly for a place like this. Always worth stopping by if you're in Rome and want proper gelato.

Expecting it to be there one year, I walked over to Piazza Navona and Gelateria Navona had evidently closed. I would then get gelato here and there. I then learned that Giolitti is a long standing gelateria and it's also in the historic center. I filed the name away in my head. Then, one day, I happened to walk right in front of it without even looking for it, so I went in. Giolitti is popular and it can be crowded. I'm going to say that I waited about 10 to 15 minutes. You pay at a counter first, deciding on what you want and how much of it, such as scoops and whether it will be in a cup or a cone. Once up at the counter, they don't rush you, which surprised me. I don't take that much time since I don't experiment much, but I still appreciate the courtesy. The price is roughly what everyone else in the historic center is charging. I always opt for the gelato it in a cup so you can "control" the dripping. The gelato - a mix of dark chocolate and two citrus flavors - was "molto buono." That said, just because it's so popular, I'm not going to downgrade Giolitti for it and complain about the crowds. You downgrade gourmet donut places in the U.S. where their fame has gone to their heads. There is also a spacious salon with nicer decor in which you can eat inside. At this point, Giolitti is really the only gelateria in Rome whose name I remember. I would gladly go back and I recommend it.

But I stopped in my tracks because I saw a line wrapped up 50+ people deep, all waiting just to get inside and order. Now it's day two in Rome and I still hadn't had any gelato, even though I've walked past what feels like a hundred shops. So what would a fat man from Alabama do? Turn right back around, of course--because nothing says "this is probably good" like a crowd stacked up like cordwood waiting for ice cream. I finally make it up to the counter and the young guy looks at me and says in English, "What do you want?" Well... I can't pronounce half of what I'm looking at, so I just show him a picture of his own menu I had snapped a minute earlier. He smiles, reads it out loud, and then asks, "What size?" At that point my brain is a mess, so I mumble "medium" and point at the cup sitting by the register. One problem down. Then I move into the next line--about a dozen people ahead of me--and when it's finally my turn again, I just point at my receipt like, "It's on there somewhere, I think." I can't read Italian, so I'm fully operating on faith at this point. The guy looks up and says, louder this time: "What flavor?" Flavor? That was not the question I was prepared for. So I point back at the picture again and say, "Whatever that is... I want that one." He scoops it up, loads it into the cup, and sends me on my way. Now comes the real test--taste it--but there are people everywhere, so I grab a quick photo first, because priorities. First bite? Hallelujah. That was the moment. That gelato hit and I just kept walking down the sidewalk like a man who somehow figured out how to survive ordering ice cream in Italy. Seriously, it was excellent. And if I get turned around again like today, I already know where I'm going back.
