Made the pilgrimage here with the specific goal of visiting French gypsy jazz legend Django Reinhardt's Selmer guitar. After spending decades listening to the music made on it, call it a religious experience for this life-long musician. The museum itself I only saw bits and pieces of but it's impressive, said to have over 7,000 musical instruments. I was only interested in one, but if this kind of collection is your thing, you could hardly go wrong.
Easy access on the #5 Metro from central Paris. Fairly clean, easily accessible area and the museum is but a couple hundred yards from the Metro and sits aside a large piazza with fountains and other attractions. Several nice cafes and bistros nearby that tempted. read more
