Shopping for preteens, so it was nice to find a great assortment of classic English-language books en Français as well as many French children's books. I should clarify I was not looking for anything in English, so try the big Gibert-Joseph or WH Smith for English-language children's books. There were some lovely bande-desinées (aka graphic novels) and a nice selection of recent fiction and non-fiction. Not a large bookshop, but a lovingly curated one, and that's what matters most to me.

I dropped in with my friends, one of whom wanted to buy French books for her children. I was just happy to browse. The store was attractive and welcoming, with a definite European bookstore charm. It was packed dense with books, on numerous display tables and climbing high on every wall. There was a cute dedicated room for children's books. I browsed the section of translated English language literature, and it was quite compact, a reminder that the world is large and not everyone cares what we Americans are doing at all times. (They did not carry my book, which has been translated into French. One of my friends very sweetly embarrassed me by asking. I found her with a polite lady who worked at the bookstore, the two of them looking at my face on a screen.) There were tons of cool coffee table books, which I enjoyed looking at in the absence of any French ability. I saw tons of art books, including one for the Rothko exhibition we were about to visit, and a great book about French drag. I was also amused by a Wes Anderson book tagged with a shelf talker that read, in French, "Perfect for fans of Wes Anderson!!" Anyway, I appreciated Librairie Delamain and would recommend it to anyone in search of books in this part of Paris. It's a beautiful store with a nice assortment of French books.

It's a DVD and book store with a small cafe in the back. They also screen movies on some nights. Tea is really yummy and a good selection. Employees are very kind. So glad we stumbled upon this gem.

We were inching along, and then suddenly the line moved really fast, they were letting people enter faster. We spent over 10 minutes and we were in. This museum is smaller than the Louvre, and has many floors and seems harder to navigate, so I just let my son take the lead and I followed. We took our time admiring the paintings: Monet, Lautrec, Van Gogh, Degas....some people are going with the flow, but some took too much time posing with the paintings, maybe thinking it's their personal studio .... We really like this museum. The time we went, there is a special exhibit dedicated to Renoir.

The space itself pulls you in, and it's easy to spend hours here without realizing it. I got lost in the beauty of the paintings here many times. Although the Louvre Museum is #1 and the most iconic, Musée d'Orsay is absolutely worth seeing and holds its own. It's in my opinion the #2 must see museum in Paris. Le Restaurant du Musée d'Orsay inside is also worth a stop on it's own, beautiful setting with high quality desserts and coffee.
