If you're looking for a funky hidden gem of a literal underground Jazz club in Paris, this is it. It looks like an unassuming enough place when you walk up, a big hotel-y building in Le Marais. But once you walk in, pay for the cover/drink voucher, and start walking down the stairs, the mood shifts and the magic starts. The walls narrow and turn to old stone bricks, the lights dim, the hallways turn, and soon enough you're facing a small stage with a curved ceiling. There's a reason they call it a cave. It's super intimate and tight, but that's what's so special about it. The night I went was an open mic, so musicians took turns switching out spots and playing their hearts out. I was never a big jazz guy before this, but I am now absolutely hooked and sold. Every single performer was incredible and the energy was electric. After I claimed my seat, I went to the bar room in the back to claim my drink. I went for a glass of wine which I can't complain about. There's another small room too for some extra seating. But why sit there when you can be a few feet from the performers. It's a heck of an experience and I can't recommend this spot enough. It's a must do when in Paris.

Wow! What a find! Friends told us about this small underground jazz club and we booked a Sunday 9:30 show with an incredible accordion/ piano duo. The place only holds maybe 40 people and you're all scrunched together on tiny chairs but you feel like you've been invited to a private jam session (which they also have after the main show). There's a bar to order drinks and the crowd was reverent with their glass of wine as we all watched virtuosos performing live. Amazing.

Great late night place in an intimate setting. Excellent music and cocktails, along with beer and wine.

Easy to drive by the tiny sign. We caught the end of a jazz show. Intimate spot in the basement. Music was wonderful. Excellent liquor selection.

My French friends like this place for superb jazz music, good drinks and laissez-faire atmosphere. It has that authentic jazz club feel.

Love being up close and personal to the music

Wow. What a treat! The space is intimate and the "jam" we saw was fantastic. This is just how you imagine a speakeasy.

So the little red door has a cute red door but the bouncer lets you in through another door (novelty observed haha). The man takes your jacket and umbrella (what a gentleman!) and sat us on the second floor. While the space between the couch and the seats were rather small, we were able to manage. I got the permaculture and resilience. The resilience is a club favorite and my favorite too! The way the sorghum, pineapple sage (syrup), pasquet cognac, and savanna rum all tied together was a blessing. I was going to get a third but I was tipsy by my second drink. My first drink was the permaculture and while I was considered it would be strong, it didn't seem strong to me. I love clarified dairy in alcohol so this was a win in my book. It consists of chestnut, butter, wakaze umeshu, avallen Calvados. The bar let's you stay for an hour but if you sit elsewhere, you can stay as long as you want. 5 stars and I hope to come back someday!

I fell in love with it a couple of weeks ago during my first trip to Paris, where I ended up visiting it not once but twice. It's a dive wine bar, but with so much character, in every nook and cranny. I had read reviews on both TripAdvisor and Yelp, albeit dated. There is no name listed on doorway so could be hard to miss, but something about the red lighting and energy just drew me in. (That and some trusty reviews online...) The first night was a little intimidating at first. A group of older gentlemen, all friends and all seemed to know the owner, were deep into conversation at the bar. However, as soon as I walked in, solo, that very owner, Jean-Loup (he made sure I captured the correct spelling, vs. some renditions in other reviews ;)) warmly greeted and welcomed me. From there on, it was bliss. For me personally it was a pivotal moment because just a few days prior to that, I was still a bit fearful about exploring the city solo with very little grasp of French, but that night, I felt brave and wandered by Bubar. So glad I did. Jean-Loup not only nailed a few wines for me that were all sheer perfection (there's a daunting list but disregard that and just tell him what you're in the mood for because he'll find something spot-on), but offered a small plate of nibbles, after asking if I preferred 'fruits or vegetables'...a sweet, personal touch. I enjoyed a wonderful night just respectfully observing his interactions with his buddies (clearly he is very adored here, and a local staple,) while he checked in on me regularly to ensure I was doing fine. Such an amazing evening. The following night I had to stop by again just to say goodbye. I simply won't be forgetting Jean-Loup and Bubar anytime soon. For anyone reading this who will be venturing into the bar, he mentioned he is not the most tech-savvy but was happy to hear he has so many positive reviews, and that I wanted to write a review (as the last one was from a year ago)...please let him know "Jennifer from Los Angeles" said hello, and mention this review. :) He's the absolute best.

The drinks with names like Corn, Apple, etc are given to elaborate cocktails that are crafted with multiple layers of ingredients. Seems weird but everyone loved theirs and we all shared sips. I highly recommend that here if you are familiar with your companions. Call your banker first as $30 per drink is average! But the girl I raised bought it so whatever? Wish I photographed that menu!! Service is bright with ample and thoughtful olive and nuts assortments and water backs for all without asking. For a splurge I could not urge enough of you to try!! Seeing this hotel property alone is worth it right down to the gilded bathrooms excellently attended. We did not try the food as they were just about to convert to first dinner service and we had Xmas Eve dinner for the family booked at a different Michelin star restaurant later.
