I too have to agree that the City West Hotel is pretty damn good. I was at a ball here late last year and if I'm being honest, was kind of dreading the thing. For some reason I expected the hotel to be a bit crap (don't ask me why) but I was completely surprised. The conference room was done up to the nines and looked fantastic, the staff and service for the entire night was great and the food was some of the best food I've ever eaten in a hotel. The grounds of the hotel are really nice too. Except maybe for the completely unnecessary helicopter landing pad in the middle of the main garden....

I stayed here for the Food and Hospitality Ireland conference in September 2014. I was surprised by how lovely this hotel was from the entrance - set in a huge golf course, it's very "Kellermans" from Dirty Dancing. Shame there was no Johnny to teach us to dance. Staff were friendly from the outset, especially the front desk and concierge. My hotel room was on the ground floor and whilst it was rather glam (see photos) it smelt quite strongly of smoke, which was a shame. Perhaps it used to be a smoking room. I guess retrospectively I should have asked to move rooms, so I can't complain too much on that front. Besides the smoke issue, the bathrooms here are fantastic - great showers, jacuzzi baths, old school high cistern loos. The bed was huge and comfortable, and overall it was a good stay. One thing that drives me bananas about this hotel is the lack of wifi. There is no wifi in the bedrooms (but it's a conference hotel?!, HELLO, business people??!). There is a wired connection, but since I have a mac computer, I couldn't use the plug without the correct adaptor (which I didn't have with me). Get the wifi sorted, febreeze the rooms, and you're onto a winner, Citywest, because I actually like this hotel.

Great price. Nicely decorated.  Big bed.  Very clean.  Looks classy.  Convention at the hotel, so everything was really busy / congested. Closet: Way too small - only hangars for shirts. Wow...hard to believe I could get less bathroom counter space than the last hotel, but I guess I am storing my toiletries on the desk! Got a whirl pool tub in my room - nice! Hot water in shower fluctuated to luke warm/cold frequently while in the shower. The hotel housekeeping forgot to clean my room.  At 9pm, once discovered, they offered to clean my room. Pub is friendly.  Lots of nice people. Golf looks fun.  Great looking course. Walking the halls back to one's room at night feels like 'the shining'.  The lights even click on and off as you move through segments on the hall.  Great for power saving - great for creepy atmosphere. Breakfast is good.  Lots of options and the pastries are fresh.

This place is HUGE! It literally takes 7 minutes to get to our room from the entrance. Too many people here for my taste. If you like ritzy, busy places, you might like it here. It's got a huge (packed) gym & pool. Everything is clean though. The room is pretty & clean besides a few big stains on the carpet. The bed is big, but not very comfortable. The pillows are flat. We couldn't get the shower head to work, so we had to bathe using the tub & sprayer. Breakfast has a big selection, but it seems like breakfast is exactly the same everywhere we go. Something different would be nice. The food is ok. Some staff are helpful & friendly, others are not. I don't golf, but the golf course was pretty & a nice walk. When traveling to the city center (Dublin), the Luas station is about a 5 minute walk if you park at the lot close to the main gate. The LUAS ride is about 40 minutes into the city. I'll post more pics later as they're on my husband's phone.

I'm quite disappointed that I was treated like this customer service and a small budget compassion needs to be addressed by Management. I am in the hospitality business myself and if any of my staff treat any customer with such coldness and lack of concern, I would be deeply upset. the first that people see on arrival and departure and I really feel that this gentleman has left down my overall experience shall I say is not the best.

I booked myself on the hotels own website. It charges a small fee, like 2 EURO to hold the room. Then they charged the balance when you check out. Irish hotels, esp in season can be very high and I was very very pleased with the rates I got. I booked early. Those that wait to the last moment were paying double what I paid. If you are driving, look for a small sign on a post directing you to the hotel once you exit Hwy 50. There is plenty of free parking out front. My rate included breakfast, which incl a choice of Irish Breakfast, or other items. The hotel is a bit dated, feels like something from the 60's to me, but that doesnt mean its bad at all. There is a bit of a step down out of the tub, so be careful! I had one room the first stay facing the back, which is nothing but an incline. Its nothinig to look at but it is quieter than the front view where you get a bit of street noise. Street noise isnt really bad and there is a view of some housing, etc and you can watch the buses go by. You can get downtown on buses too. Driving in downtown is not recomended, as parking is tight, and most streets are one way. They dont make it easy to get from one place to another as your constantly forced to go one way or another and its often not your choie of ways. So maybe take the bus! I ate in the bar/pub twice and food was ok, Typical Irish fare. Prices were reasonable. For me the location was ideal to start and end an Irish itinerary and for me the prices were great. I would gladly stay again.

The only supervising we did was rating the girls' dresses as they danced with their fellas' ties loosely wrapped around them. In fact, the supervisors' table was the one with the most empty vodka bottles beneath it. The bathrooms in the Keadeen Hotel are beautiful. I love peeing here. While we enjoyed the food at Hermione's, the day we stayed there was a group event closing the main restaurant so we had to eat in the bar area.
