Now, Rockwall County Veterinary Clinic requires you to purchase from their pharmacy or obtain a paper prescription for any medication. If I ordered from their online pharmacy the cost is $37.04 plus shipping. However, with the 4th of July coming and all the fireworks, I wanted to obtain the medication immediately. I went to the clinic and purchased it for $56.95! What a scam! I did email the pharmacy at the address in the email on Saturday regarding picking the medication up at the clinic. NEVER received a response. Good thing it wasn't an emergency. I did request a paper prescription and was told it would take 24 to 48 hours to get it. The Vet I use was not in today and I was told only the Vet that sees your pet is able to issue a paper prescription. I was never overwhelmed by the office anyway, so this is just another reason to change veterinary clinics.

During my last few visits, it was painful to watch how the senior, more established staff treated the newer, younger employees.Instead of guiding and supporting new team members, the older staff members are openly dismissive, cold, and borderline toxic to them. They act like highschool bullies. I have personally witnessed uncomfortable tension in the clinic, including senior staff speaking down to newer employees right in front of clients. It creates an incredibly unprofessional, stressful atmosphere not just for the staff, but for the pets and owners visiting. A clinic's culture trickles down into everything they do. If management doesn't address how the older staff treats newcomers, they are going to lose great talent and clients who don't want to support a toxic workplace. I hope leadership takes a hard look at their internal culture, and the front desk staff.

After much tears, we decided we needed to give him peace. The team was so great with us and our pup. They made a hard day a little easier with how patient they were with us and let us take as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes. He was our baby and a huge part of our lives. With that being said, the service we received when putting our dog down at Premier Vet was 10/10. First off, after calling 4-5 different places, no one would take us in last minute on a Saturday. Premier Vet knew our urgency as I was clearly upset and made it a point to get us in immediately, even though they had ZERO openings. The staff was the most caring staff ever. When we got there, they had a spot set up for my dog with blankets, etc. The doctor did an amazing job dealing with not only my pet but me as well. I have taken my other two dogs here for a couple of years but recently stopped due to the drive. That will no longer be the case. Premier Vet will be the only place I will ever take my dogs from here on out. They are amazing, and I honestly can't say enough about them. I've been to a handful of vets, and you will not beat the staff, the doctors, or the care at Premier Vet. I HIGHLY recommend them. She got hurt this week and her paw was incredibly red & swollen. I texted Dr. Desiree Friday night. She gave me great advice for overnight (putting a sock on my dog's foot to prevent licking....what an easy solution I would have NEVER thought of!) and then squeezed us in for Saturday afternoon. She texted an ETA when we were next & she was right on time. ESPECIALLY in this time of avoiding crowds & public places, the value that Dr. Des provides by coming to your home is invaluable. (For about the same price as it would have cost to go in to a vet office!) Our dog was so much more relaxed & responded better than I expected. The doctor was able to treat our furbaby & provide a "cone of shame" and antiobiotics....and showed us the magic treat that eliminated the battle of trying to get our dog to take a pill. MAGIC! Her bedside manner both with animals & people is an absolute gift. She reads both incredibly well & knows how to meet each one exactly at their need. Her followup the next few days was also a blessing. Yes, she was doing a great job of followup, but you can tell how much she really cares about her patients. The appointments have always been quick, easy, and affordable, which is why I felt comfortable bringing my cat here when she developed a cough that I had never heard before. I'm a very protective pet owner, so I wanted to have her checked out just to be safe. Unfortunately, yesterday's experience left me extremely frustrated and with more questions than answers. When the veterinarian first came in, he immediately began handling my cat and feeling around her body rather roughly. She immediately started hissing at him. My cat is normally extremely friendly--she literally kisses me on the nose--so seeing her react that way was very concerning to me. I understand that animals can become nervous at the vet, but I feel that allowing her a moment to get comfortable and sniff the veterinarian before immediately handling her would have made a big difference. I was told that her cough was likely related to fragrances being used in my home. I explained that I have used these fragrances for around 2 1/2 years and that I have actually been using them less frequently recently rather than having them running constantly. I understand that fragrances can potentially affect pets, and I'm absolutely willing to make changes if necessary, but I felt like that conclusion was made without much investigation into other possible causes. They recommended bloodwork, and I agreed. I specifically asked if it could be done there because she was already nervous and I knew she didn't feel comfortable. She was taken to the back, and they attempted to restrain her with a muzzle and hold her legs while preparing to draw blood. While they were attempting to take her blood, they eventually brought her back to me. She had alcohol all over her body, and I was told that she had started drooling and was having a hard time breathing. They then told me they stopped because they were concerned about injuring her neck or potentially breaking her neck. I was honestly shocked and extremely uncomfortable hearing all of this. I was then told that she would need to be sedated in order to have bloodwork done. What confused me even more is that she has had bloodwork done previously without being sedated, so I was left wondering why sedation was suddenly necessary now. They also recommended an X-ray, but I left feeling like my original concern hadn't really been resolved. I spent around $90 and walked away with essentially the same concern I came in with, except now I was even more worried because of how the visit was handled. I want to be clear that I understand veterinary care can be difficult, especially when an animal is scared. I'm not upset that my cat was nervous or that they had difficulty getting blood. My frustration is with how the situation was handled and the lack of clear communication throughout the process. I also wish they had taken more time to build trust with my cat before immediately grabbing and restraining her. I have recommended this clinic in the past because of my previous positive experiences and the affordability of their services. That's why yesterday was especially disappointing. I left feeling like I didn't have a clear explanation for what was happening with my cat, and I didn't feel completely comfortable with how the situation was handled. I truly hope this feedback is taken seriously because I do appreciate having access to affordable veterinary care. I just want to feel confident that my pets are being handled gently, that concerns are being thoroughly investigated, and that I'm being given clear and transparent explanations about their care.

I told her I rather have a topical, so she had to go ask the vet again. This went on for a while and I ask her why can't the vet come in here to talk to me. She said she had an emergency. I said well you took my dog out to see her and you keep leaving to go ask her questions & I would like to have a conversation so I think she might have 2 min. Again she said i will have to go ask her. I said forget it. I was still charged but never saw the vet, never got medicine, NOTHING! I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE!
