I paid more than expected but that's now long forgotten and they are more than worth it anyway. At least as important as vanity the prescription is the best I've ever had and the consultation itself was informative - I actually have a good insight (excuse the pun) in to what's going on with my eyes. I enjoyed good friendly conversation with the staff and I'm modest enough to admit she chose my frames not me!

I dropped by because of reviews on Yelp, wasn't going to buy anything necessarily but came out with a really nice pair of Oliver Peoples/ Garrett Leight sunglasses. They were no means cheap but they fitted them just perfectly. Unfortunately I lost them in Austin Texas and didn't know whether I'd be able to get another pair. They ordered them back in and gave me a discount on the original price for me since I was basically buying them twice. I also ordered a pair of lenses for my old Ray Bans, they're so helpful and quick to respond to emails. Very chatty, know about your face shape and what suits, but don't do the hard sell. If you're looking for cheap then go to your average high street store but if you've saved a few bob it's a good investment.

I spent two hours in this opticians today. I have perfect vision, but ended up in here on an…read moreelongated mission to help my friend choose some new glasses. It took so long! Firstly, we obviously went through all the comical and inappropriate glasses he could wear and that made him look ridiculous. You know how some glasses work for some people and on others people just make them look silly? Well, loads of those. And then once we'd finally chosen some that looked half-decent the whole myriad of options of lens thickness came into play. Seriously, if you've got bad eyes, need strong glasses but don't want them to be Dexter thick then you need to pay hundreds and hundreds of pounds to get thin lenses. Buying glasses is a seriously costly business. Bad times indeed. The assistants in D&A were very helpful if a bit out of touch with what would actually look good on my mate. The man we spoke to had great things to say about face size and proportion and lines and stuff which was great, but then totally undermined himself by suggesting some awful glasses that were totally inappropriate for my friend and made him look twenty years older than he was. And then he had to choose whether to get a free second pair, or get over a hundred quid off the price by moving his contacts prescription to D&A which would be more than he already paid at his other opticians but did he want the discount? At this point I reached the end of my tether boredom wise and went and got a cup of tea. Glasses equals mega stress!

They have artifacts from Egypt, Africa, and many locations. They have quite a bit of wild animal exhibits representing the different species in the UK. They have a nice cafe to sit and rest also. You plunder flora and fauna, antiquities, important cultural objects from other peoples. You compete with other rich, white dudes to create the biggest collection of the most random things someone could think of. "I have one of every butterfly on each of the inhabited continents!" "Oh yeah, my stuffed 2-toed sloth is bigger than yours!" Fast forward to the present, and the current caretakers of this hodgepodge of objects of dubious provenance are tasked with creating cohesive exhibits for the public. There are some really interesting pieces in the museum. I was able to hold a 2,000 year-old carved stone perfum vial. See the cross section of a turtle skeleton (so cool how the spines follow the inner curve of the shell), admire a stuffed porcupine. It was fascinating to think about what caught the fancy of people in the past. I would have loved to have seen more discussion of how these objects came to be, and what that tells us about classism, racism, and the history of imperialism. Be that as it may, I'm glad to see that someone's past light fingeredness is at least entertaining and educating the public today, instead of collecting dust in a storage facility somewhere.
