Super professional and friendly people. I was done setting up an account in less than 10 minutes. Even with a understaffed crew.

Given that we just survived the hottest 2 weeks in Missouri history and it appears as if we're entering another heat wave, I thought I'd check for a review and apparently I am the first. Many of my friends just got their bill from the Mid-June to Mid-July billing period and have reported numbers as high as $450 without budget billing. I was bracing for a shock because I talked to a guy on Saturday who said that even though he is on "Budget Billing" he still got socked for over $450 on his bill. Well, I went online and checked my bill and sure enough, it had gone from it's average $152 per month up to $290. Whoah! How crazy is that? The power company socks it to me during the hottest months of the year? That's a low blow, right? Well, I called customer support yesterday and talked to a very nice lady who explained that the reason my bill (and most likely that other guy I talked to) was high because I had reached the "anniversary" of going on Budget Billing so whenever that happens each year you have to "catch up" and pay whatever the difference is between your monthly average and your actual usage. Turns out that I had used $140 more worth of kilowatt hours than the previous year so I just had to settle up. No problem. Then, I asked if I could spread the payment out over time so as not to cough up the entire $140 in one lump. Yes, I can spread it out up to 12 months if I'd like, thank you very much! So, I went from frothing and ready to scream to highly placated and appreciative. Granted, Ameren is a corporation and they're not giving anything away for free, but we have all seen them spring to life in the wake of a storm in the local area or afar and they are very responsive when the need arises. I guess maybe I won't be singing their praises as much when the upcoming 14% rate hike takes effect. Ugh!

RUN...run fast away from AmeriGas. *****Then see below*****…read more They hung our family out to freeze despite multiple attempts to get our tank filled well before winter storms a few years ago. All calls went overseas, no help arrived, and we had to take emergency measures. They lied all the way through an extremely challenging winter. It got worse. A year after switching companies we suddenly found an AmeriGas sticker on the tank and a new valve of some sort, quickly removed by our new propane company. They then began harassing us saying that they own the tank (yet couldn't provide a contract and never charged a rental fee...the prior owner had bought it) and were coming to get it. I informed them they already trespassed once, never again without consequences, and that they would end up spending a lot more with a lawsuit. Since then, they have continued to try to collect a conjured up rental fee through a collector but haven't reported to the credit agencies, which is actually the only smart thing I have seen out of them to date. This is an evil corrupt company that is too big for its britches. The lawsuits they have faced for overcharging, under filling, and attempting to corner the market are a good read, SEE BELOW. Apparently, they are not learning that good customer service brings good business. Run...run fast! *****Key Litigation and Legal Issues***** Breach of Contract Lawsuit (2022-2024): As of late 2023/2024, AmeriGas faced a lawsuit (Ezzat v. AmeriGas Propane, L.P.) regarding breach of contract, with a judge dismissing other claims like unjust enrichment in April 2023. Colorado AG Investigation (2023): The Colorado Attorney General investigated allegations that AmeriGas violated consumer protection laws due to late deliveries and poor service. Propane Tank Class Action (2021): A class action settlement was finalized in March 2021 regarding claims that AmeriGas and Blue Rhino underfilled propane tanks. Antitrust Litigation: AmeriGas was involved in multi-district litigation (MDL) regarding alleged collusion to lower the amount of propane in pre-filled tanks. While some class actions have reached settlements, the company continues to face legal challenges related to its business practices.

At 11:30 still nothing, so already highly irritated that a large company can't get better than a 4 hour window on an appt. Call wait was 20 min, so when they finally spoke with me only to find out that I was actually scheduled for an all day appointment. ALL DAY, Meaning they can come whenever they feel like it and I am stranded in a house that doesn't even have a chair to sit on. This is the highly advance and innovative company called Laclede Gas Company. (now that was funny) Is there another business outside of utility company's and government that can pull this pathetic service off in 2015? No! We miss an appointment by 2 min and we are getting an ear full. Why do they not have any competition in the market that will force company's like Laclede Gas Company to actually consider that not everyone can just burn a vacation day waiting around with a smile on their face for them to do business with them?

After reviewing the experiences described here by other customers, the familiar pattern is readily apparent: Erroneous billing, errors in the application of payments, miscommunication and a lack of follow up, and an eagerness to shut off gas service with no preamble whatsoever...all of the same nonsense I tolerated with Laclede. Always, there will be a litany if excuses, and the vendor will place the blame onto the customer even when written documentation - including dated mail and email - is demonstrated. You may very well play these games with your helpless victims, Laclede, but I have absolutely no intention of allowing such asinine and improprietous conduct from those WHOM I PAY TO SERVE ME. Did you understand that, Laclede? You exist to serve your customers...not the other way around. After my final round of arguments with Laclede, I contacted the State Attorney General's office and also advised my contractor that I would be preparing to replace my home furnace, water heater, and kitchen oven/range top with new electric models. Because my spouse is a dedicated cook who remains forever in love with gas cooking appliances, she agreed to assume responsibility for managing the gas service and for all interaction with Laclede. I have since learned of no issues...although she likely would not dare to tell me unless a truly serious issue arose, as she is aware my intent to remove gas service was in earnest, despite the costs.
