From hardware, appliances, furniture, sporting goods, and banjos, this store has it all. Nothing in the store has been updated, but has been gently maintained to keep it in its original state. I once asked for a pound of framing nails and 50 feet of rope. One of several older men working there went to a wood bin and picked up a large handful of nails and put them in the bag and asked if that would do. It was clearly over a pound but charged me for just the pound. Another man went to the back and started measuring rope using is outreached arms. I wanted some DAP plaster-of-Paris powder, and it was waiting for me the next time I went in--and at a good price. Steve and Jerry are professional, accommodating, and also very nice and friendly. I predict that Hometown Hardware will become as much a local institution as St. Paul Builders was. And I very much appreciate that I don't have to drive a long way just to pick up hardware and supplies. The location in downtown St. Paul is extremely convenient.
