This is really a long time coming…read more We started construction on a cabin near Snowshoe over three years ago and in the planning stages, we began looking for building suppliers. Lowe's was several hours away and the next closest building supply warehouse was an hour and half. We expected for the family owned Glades to be astronomical in prices. We couldn't have been more wrong. We shopped prices for all things required to build a cabin, from the foundation, to the roofing, and nearly every item was either cheaper or the same price as the big box stores. Lumber, cinderblock, metal roofing, cedar siding--all cheaper or close to the competitors. They worked with us on many occassions and through in free shipping on large orders (which where we were located was a huge savings). The service is great and provide their best honest opinion, even if it isn't in their interest. They carry a wide variety of products and can special order the majority of what they don't stock. Even through we are nearing completion of the cabin, we will be spending countless trips over the coming years picking up needed home goods, tools, and hardware.

The store itself is also large, which is jam-packed with offerings in hardware, lawn and garden, paint, plumbing/cleaning supplies, electrical items, hand and power tools, housewares, nursery, sporting goods, and even a Hallmark and a gift shop! It seems like it's a favorite spot of the locals, as the place was busy and the patrons seem to be taking advantage of their great deals and competitive prices. The people at the Co-op I've found to be very helpful when you engage with them. The hardware is spread out in different sections that sometime require the assistance of someone who knows the store and again, every time I have ask, someone has taken the time to walk me to the item I'm searching for. I had a big wood shop tool delivered to the Co-op on an 18 wheeler that could not access my mountain property and one of the wear house guys used a fork truck to transfer the machine to my vehicle no questions asked. I doubt you would get that kind of help at a big box store.

They claimed they did not have an equivalent unit, but would not even give me my purchase price back to put towards a new unit. To make a long story short, I went to a different Lowe's in Beckley and they gave me a new unit without me even having to ask. I will no longer patronize the Lewisburg Lowes.

This Lowe's is a stone's throw away from Lewisburg and White Sulphur Springs and a bit over an hour from Snowshoe. It's extremely well organized and clean as a whistle. I bought one of the largest professional grills they had in stock. The bad part was that it weighed about 400 lbs. No problem. I had three workers put it in my Jeep. Incredible service. Impressive.
