So the Ski Barn is right off of the T intersection when making your way to Winterplace. It is to the right of the gas station and apparently does a lot of business renting and selling ski equipment... Especially since the resort is about a 5 min drive away. I had a buddy renting skis from here and it took a while only because this lady at the cash register had to go line by line on her receipt for her and her 3 boys going skiing... Literally 20min, but the charges ended up totaling up correctly for her. The poor girl manning the register still smiled and explained everything. Aside from the wait, looks like a standard operation here... Form to fill out if you are renting and there is a deposit (on your credit card) that won't be charged if you bring back every item as agreed upon. There is gear for purchase here too.. Not a huge selection, but decent along with stickers and some west va souvenirs. read more

We have had nothing but good experiences with Ski Barn for several years. My family likes to go skiing at Winterplace at least once each winter, and every trip starts with the stop at Ski Barn to rent skis. The staff there is very knowledgeable and always gives us great advice and does a great job with our skis. The customer service there is top notch and working with Ski Barn always ensure that we will have a great day of skiing. They have good apparel selections too. Dear Rhonda and Wayne, Thank you so very much for the amazing shopping experience. The night before my son's ski trip his zipper broke on his favorite ski jacket. Not only did y'all outfit him with a new jacket and goggles specifically picked out by Wayne, but the items were also on sale. At check out, Rhonda was sweet enough to remind me that I could have an extra 10% off group rate on my already sale items. I can't say enough about the friendly, courteous, professional, and speedy service I received...to say staff members went above and beyond is an understatement! Never ask for directions they don't know what there talking about. It's also overpriced.

I rented a snowboard from ski barn. As soon as I got to the mountain I found that the bindings were not securely mounted to the board and one of the binding straps wouldn't tighten properly. Their equipment looked pretty ragged and I should have known there would be some problem. Having compromised gear can be pretty dangerous, but when I came back and told them about the problems the person at the rental counter shrugged it off and told me "It happens. We can't predict the future." I told him that they should have checked to make sure the equipment was working before they rented it out to someone, and that they should think about replacing the parts. He very sarcastically told me "We'll certainly take that under consideration." No apology, no sympathy, no attempt to seem like it remotely mattered to them. My advice: rent from the resort directly. If something is wrong, it's easier to get repaired right there, and they may have more incentive to keep you happy read more
