I am disappointed in the payment/insurance billing process. I was told today that the annual vision…read moreexam would not be charged to my vision insurance plan because it was a "medical" exam - not a vision exam. The purpose of the exam was an annual check-up. I wear contacts. The first contact trial made my vision worse. The second testing was on target. I thought I had paid the bill in full last week but today was told of another $94.00 charge. The front office handled things poorly, when I asked questions. The explanation given was that I was older, and this was the way it was done for older patients. I am 72. I don't have glaucoma. I don't have cataracts. I do have some neurological problems. I declined to speak with Dr. Jacobs at the time because I felt the need to remove myself from the situation. I respect his expertise. However, I will not be returning to this practice because of the billing methods. My husband recently had a good experience. He had his annual vision exam and purchased glasses a for a quarter of my cost using the same vision insurance. His visit was not labeled "medical". He is seven years older than I am. For Hokie fans and followers, Rally House appears to be the most complete fan store in the area…read more Rally House took over what used to be the Tech Bookstore - it's located on Main St in the downtown portion of Blacksburg. Rally House will definitely be busy during football gamedays, so it was a relief to visit them on a chill Saturday evening (and Sunday morning). They have a big (but not too big) showroom, and they offer anything and everything you could imagine. If you can think of it (and you if you want it to display Virginia Tech), they have it. Being a huge basketball and football fan, I came in looking for clothes. When I came across their website a few weeks ago, I noticed they offered Nike gear that the other local Hokie-centric stores simply don't have. I kept a mental note of the items I was interested in and picked them up during my recent Blacksburg visit. Rally House's main entrance is actually on the second floor. This building was built on an incline (i.e., hill), so their showroom is technically downstairs. Once you've gone down the stairs, you will find a clean and organized showroom full of Virginia Tech clothing and various other items. They also offer gear for the Washington professional sports teams - Commanders, Capitals, Nationals (hmm, now that I'm thinking about it, I don't think I saw any Wizards gear). There is one wall that offers Blacksburg tourist-type clothing, which I thought was pretty cool. The staff is made up of mostly college students. They were all friendly and helpful. My purchase transaction was quick and easy. I obviously spent way more time looking, but I was comfortable throughout my visit and wasn't pressured to buy anything. Finally, their price points matched (relatively) with other local Hokie shops. Some items were a bit more expensive, but from what I could tell, the more expensive items were the items that weren't available anywhere else. Thank you, Rally House! JV

I used to love this pharmacy so much , especially for their friendly free delivery. There are still…read morea lot of friendly staff there as they've grown. Sadly, most everything has gotten much worse in the past couple of years. I don't know why. Now there seems to be a problem every time I need a refill. The staff doesn't seem to communicate well with each other; I'll be texted something is out of stock and then be told it was filled the previous day. On one occasion I tried to refill my contact lens solution. It took two months of confusing back-and-forth of texts! They haven't been sending out meds when promised or send the wrong thing. They have been EXTRAORDINARILY patient with me and my AR balance; I'm low income and appreciated that. However they didn't give me an early warning about how high it had gotten, and then they confronted me about it in front of my mother with no regard to privacy. The man there (manager ?) has offered several times to go back through the charges and see if any can be reduced, but he hasn't yet. I would have changed pharmacies by now, except I'm moving soon so it's not worth it. I don't doubt that the staff and mgmt here cares about their patients and want to do right by them. I imagine things are falling apart on a communications level. No one has the time to follow up multiple times on every prescription , though, and their best intentions are clearly being drowned out by serious communication fails.
