We hired Donna Easterday, whose family owns the venue, to be our day of coordinator. She was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. I'm so impressed by her professionalism and organizational skills... add this to the fact she has such a kind and helpful heart she made for the perfect person to support us during our day. Without her, our day wouldn't have been the same. She made sure everything ran smoothly and it was the magical day we had dreamed of. She made sure all of the decorations were completed. She also made sure that during the wedding our guest book was signed, pictures were taken, favors were passed and so much more. There was so much more that Donna did to make our day flow smoothly and perfectly. We have absolutely no regrets in picking this location - it was everything we could have hoped for. It was affordable, beautiful, and we felt completely supported and cared for. I learned after the reception that she doesn't miss a wedding at her venue. She was quietly everywhere. The owners are extremely detailed oriented and it's evident they have put thought and love into every single piece of this venue. You can feel the magic the second you step onto the property. On the day of my wedding, Carol was there to greet us and help with anything we needed. Leading up to my wedding, Bailey was a fast communicator and extremely accommodating. Working with bluebird felt like working with family. In addition, the venue is so versatile. I love that my guests could choose to be dancing inside, playing corn hole in the back, hanging on the balcony or watching the sunset. It was so important to us to have an indoor outdoor feel, and so many people commented on how unique and special it felt. Additionally, they have a gorgeous bridal suite with everything you need to feel comfortable and excited while getting ready on your big day. I really can't recommend the bluebird enough. After you see it in person, you'll never want to leave!

Here's our experience. 1) Parking: Located up a long driveaway, there was enough parking for guests without it feeling cramped. 2) Space: For the Indian ceremony, we were outside in their garden. It was beautiful, but also very cold on a windy April evening. Luckily, there were blankets for guests, but it was COLD. The cocktail hour was below the barn with powerful heaters. Upstairs in the old barn was the reception. It felt a little tight for 150 guests, but not bad. 3) History: The property is on an old farm with a brick Colonial era house. The house is where the wedding party got ready for the ceremony. I couldn't find record of this easily online, but it's safe to assume the former owners of the house enslaved people pre-Civil War. It's important to note so we don't take that lightly.

We were actually quite jealous of all of the fun things they had- the bridal suite had nothing! My biggest complaint would be that the bridal suite was overrun by bugs- wasps, stink bugs, and lady bugs. The staff was friendly and did their best to remove the wasps (the only bug we cared too much about), but it was still a bit gross.

There is a beautiful pond with a small house next to it, and the wedding was held right in front of this house with the backdrop of the pond that had a large spraying fountain at it's center. A large weeping willow tree stands at the edge of the pond which the happy couple was united under. I think one of the things that really helped make this experience seamless was their staff who were really clear about where the ceremony was happening and gave us super clear instructions about how to get back to the reception hall after. But yes, the reception hall was really incredible. The cocktail hour took place in the downstairs which is a really nice room that goes out to a stunning patio, screened in porch, and did I mention that the patio has a giant cauldron that they made a fire in while we were having dinner. The cocktail hour basement transforms into the dance floor and they had stuff to make smores out by the cauldron fire during this time as well. The staff at the bar was incredibly friendly as well. They have a REALLY good staff on their hands there and it really enhanced the whole experience. The large reception hall where dinner takes place is like the coziest most lovely log cabin style area with large couches, a fireplace, and windows that surround a good portion of the room. It really was just such a perfect spot for around, I wanna say, about 100 or so people. SO so happy for my friends who were married there. I'm definitely gonna recommend this spot in the future. People definitely sometimes tap me for venues of this style- and it's good to have an excellent one in my pocket ;).

I've been to two events here in the last few months and I hope the owner extends this space beyond July as their website states. What started as a burned-down building in need of repair was turned into an amazing outdoor space that feels natural, intimate and inviting for small events. From comedy to poetry readings, yoga, to art - this space is really special and if you're in the Frederick area it's worth checking out. There's plenty of free or low-cost parking nearby and it's also around the corner from great restaurants and Carroll Creek so the location couldn't be better.

The space allows for so many interesting events to take place. They host salsa dancing, drum circles, yoga, and many many other things. The living trellis inside is amazing!! The only reason I didn't give it five stars, because I did truly love it, was the lack of a bathroom. There are signs pointing to the "restrooms" but it was simply your average Porta potty. I think having the nicer mobile bathrooms that a lot of outdoor wedding venues use would add so much functionality to the space.
