I responded to a promotion. Deposit this much and get $1,500. I thought that sounded good. After three attempts on the web site, I kept getting a completion error. I called. It took more than an hour on the phone. I was told I could not deposit money until my debit card was received. That makes no sense as I was sending a check. I got the debit card and a deposit slip. I sent the money in. It took nine days before it was deposited. I received a letter showing the deposit. That was sent 23 days after my application. Then 30 days after my app, I called and was told that my account was "blocked" and referred to the fraud department. I had made an error and forgot to sign the deposit check. I guess that is fraudulent and not just a mistake. I asked why no one contacted me, considering it was such as large deposit check. The agent said " On blocked accounts we wait for the customer to call us. We don't call them. "
To compound things further, to get this figured out, I had to talk to at least 4 agents. Some in fraud department, some in customer service. They kept transferring me around. When I asked them to look at the letter they sent me, they said their systems don't allow that. Further I had difficulty getting authorized to their system. What happened is that they sent me a letter saying that my application had been accepted. It was addressed to my spouse and me, but when they actually set up the account, they only put her on the account.
To conclude, I was aggravated and asked them to close the account, at which point they said I owed them $12 for the bounced check. I asked for that to be refunded and they agreed. Bottom line, their customer service needs a total revamp. Their systems need to be interconnected and they need to be more customer focused. Yes, I made a mistake, but why would they not make a simple phone call and suggest I send another check? Don't they want customers? read more
