We've been to almost every vet in this city but this is by far the best. We love windcrest for their boarding but because they are a big corporate vet, we felt they were often pushing meds that might not have been necessary. Circle does not do that, and they try and help you make wise financial choices (like when I couldn't decide on flea/tick/heart worm meds). Also, my dog is scared of other dogs and Circle's waiting room is big enough to hide your 70 lb trembling pit bull. Another vet (well the receptionist) in town sneared at me when a lady had her dog off leash in the office and I asked her nicely to keep her dog away from mine. At Circle, the gals went out and made sure my pup could get to the door without other dogs getting near her. (This may seem like I'm "one of those people" but really, if my dog bit someone's dog, even if they were at fault, my dog would be in trouble bc of her breed.) so, I found it really assuring that the office staff took my concern seriously and kindly. read more

The worst. Used to be the best. They use boarding to charge 4 times more for shots that aren't necessary. Cost $90 just to make a evaluation appt. And then the costs go up. Even though the animal is current on the required shots. They will find more just to make more money. Complete scam. Avoid this vet at all costs. You'll be sorry if you use them. read more

I was a loyal customer at Circle Vet (now Care Vet) for the last 13 years. My husband and I both had a terrible experience with their front desk staff. I called and made a wellness appointment for my new puppy, scheduled at 11:30 am. I was given the choices of 0900 or 1130. I wrote 1130 down at my desk and texted this time to my husband. I repeated the time scheduled back to the receptionist. I was told that I would need to put down a $79.00 deposit in case of a "no show" fee. The day of the appointment, I received a call from the front desk staff at 11:29 (I have a screenshot picture of the time she called) who immediately told me I was late for the appointment and my dog would not be seen. I explained that the appointment was scheduled for 11:30. She said "no, it was at 11:20." I looked at my records and saw that I had written down 11:30. While she was being argumentative with me, my husband walked in your door with our puppy. He was shocked at the combative tone he encountered from the front desk staff. He asked to be refunded the $79.00 deposit. He was told they would ask, but the money would be applied to the next appointment. The staff member's tone of voice was dismissive, rude, accusatory and completely unprofessional. I have read many Google reviews regarding Circle Vet. Unfortunately, I see a clear pattern of unprofessional behavior by their front desk staff. I also see responses which offer poor excuses for their behavior. Through an email, I asked that Circle Vet refund the "deposit", as no services were rendered due to their scheduling mistake, as my husband walked in before the appointed time. They did not return my calls as requested. Instead, the "Hospital Manager" sent a letter (clearly backdated) accusing us of yelling, threatening, being entitled, harassing and using harsh language. All of which were NOT true. Yes, we were rightly upset - for good reason. They took my money and ran with it. Fortunately, my credit card company sided with me and eventually my money was returned. We have been coming to Dr. Wilkins for years but in the last year with his only working part time, the quality of service has plummeted. Today, i stopped by to pick up a prescription for my dog. I waited at the counter while a receptionist completed her Facebook posts on her cell phone (I watched), then the first thing she said after I said "can you help me?" was "do you have a mask?" While she was looking up my dog and not getting the job done, another tech came into the reception area, grabbed my prescription and said here you go. The girl at reception was still staring at her computer as I walked out. Dr. Wilkins, please get some front desk staff who better represent you. read more

My Mom and I have gone to Circle Vet from when it was on Lancaster Avenue with Dr, John Wilkins. I would not trust my pets with anyone else. Dr. Wilkins is the best! I recently referred a colleague of mine there and he called me today to say how extremely pleased he was. His pet was seen by Dr. Weiss who has also seen my Katie before. we have used them for 30 years and have zero complaints. They have given our dogs and cats excellent care. When our animals quality of life has deteriorated due to serious illness or aging they have been kind in delivering the diagnosis and, when the time came, euthanizing the animal. On the one occasion one of the vets could nit find an effective treatment for one of our dogs, they sent us to the University of Pennsylvania. It turned out there was no effective treatment as the poor girl had been severely neglected, to the point of cruelty, by her previous owner. We highly recommend them. read more

I've been taking my baby girl Sadie here for about 2 years. We needed somewhere closer (previously at Lums Pond) and that had more appointment times. Sadie struggles with ongoing UTIs and we're able to get appointments pretty quickly when I start seeing signs of another infection. We've seen Dr. Wilkins and Dr. Weiss and both were lovely, caring and efficient. They also helped create a care plan when she had an IVDD flare up. On top of that, I've found the costs to be very reasonable compared to other practices we've tried. read more

I have used this vet for a bit over a year, when I moved to the area, and have always had great experiences, both in terms of their pricing, scheduling and treatment and management of my large dog. I have mostly seen Dr. Wilkens, and sometimes Dr. Weiss (I'm pretty sure, but I could be wrong) and had no complaints. I've referred my mother here for her dogs, and several friends for their animals, who have all had the same experiences. My complaint is (mostly) with Dr. Rife. I found a lump on my dog's back foot. Obviously, this was a very expensive appointment, almost $500 but a lot was done - office visit, sedation/reversal, nail trim, blood work, and $241 for the outside lab biopsy of what they took from his foot. While my dog was basically an unconscious sack on the floor, she seemed alarmed at his heart rate and pale gums and said that it could be due to internal bleeding (??!!) which rightfully freaked me out, so in the moment she did some blood work to compare to his previous labs from a month ago and said everything looked fine, he probably just had low BP from the sedation (thanks for the heart attack, doc). In hindsight I now realize her statement about internal bleeding and freaking me out like that cost an extra $48 for bloodwork that otherwise wouldn't have been done, but again, whatever, it happens. I am told that it can take 3-7 days for the lab work to come back with results. My appointment was Wednesday, April 5. I of course spent the weekend stressed about my dog possibly having cancer. I called the office on Thursday, April 13, since at that point it had been over a week and I figured it's now acceptable to call and ask at this point. The lab tech that answered the phone said she could see that the results were received the day before (Wednesday April 12), but that Dr. Rife wasn't working that day, so she would call me on Friday (April 14). Okay fine, at least the results are in. Friday afternoon, no call, so I call the office again close to closing time, and am told by the front desk that she is busy with appointments but will be making calls when she is done, before the end of the day. Nothing, no call on Friday. Now it's Saturday, April 15, I call at 9am when they open and am told by the front desk that Dr. Rife isn't back in the office until WEDNESDAY, and she will call me then. Now I have a problem. Not only has this doctor had the biopsy results for at least one full working day (NOT counting the Wednesday the results were received), but now I am told I have to wait more days to get results that the office has now had for 3 days? And I am also told that the other vet in the office, since she has never seen my dog, won't read the results or call me. Now my opinion of this vet, Dr. Rife, has tanked, and my experience with this office is terrible, which is a shame because that's never been the case, and I know offices are incredibly short-staffed and take a lot of flack, and I certainly don't want to contribute to it more, but I don't think I'm being unreasonable since now I've been told multiple times that I will receive a call, and then don't, and I know the results are in the office. So I go into the office to get my dog's records, since obviously at this point if my dog has cancer, Dr. Rife sure as hell isn't going to be the person treating him. I am told that I can't even get the lab results, because they haven't been interpreted yet, the part that Dr. Rife only is apparently able to do. So now I can't even get a printed copy of whatever they do have, and again, that I've paid $241 for? And honestly now the attitude of the vet techs is that I am a nuisance, so they aren't inclined to be very helpful now either - I sat in the front lobby and heard them talking to each other about my case ("I don't know what she wants"), and I know when I've been made the bad guy in the situation. You can't come back from that. So now I'm out of a vet's office, and $496 dollars, and still don't even know if my dog has cancer - the only information I've ever wanted is a phone call that I was told multiple times I would receive, but didn't. The only information I was ever told was told I would get a call "that day". Maybe I'll find out Wednesday, but honestly, at this point, I doubt it. This sucks. read more

About five or six years ago, I left a large Veterinary Practice in Wilmington (and many other places) and I found Circle Vet. I am so glad I did. Dave Wilkins, the owner, is a nice, compassionate, knowledgeable individual, and it shows with the people he has working there. Every experience there has been wonderful, and I am very picky who sees my golden, Isabelle. Never a rush, prices are very reasonable, and I am so glad I found this place. Clean facility, professional and friendly staff. I have taken my cats here ever since they opened several years ago. Lisa, my cat, does not like going to the vet for her annual check up and for any needed shots. When she see's the pet carrier, she runs and hides, so it is chase the kitty. I have been taking all my animals(~10 cats + 2 dogs) last 20 years(yes,20 years!) and I have nothing but good to say about this veterinary clinic. Dr. Wilkins is always compassionate, very very kind and gentle to your animals, and super thorough when it comes to checking your pet/diagnose, and take his time to explain in simple term what's going on, what is the possibilities, and what is the prognosis. The front staff is very friendly and helpful as well. The office is nice and spacious and clean. The prices are very comparable and I love the fact that they don't over sell you the "additional treatments" but rather refuses to give any unnecessary treatments even thought they would have made more money if they do. I have been involved with animal shelter for the last ~+10 years but I still take my own to Circle Vet. read more

Misdiagnosed our dog. I spent well over $1800. I spoke to the owner and asked for a partial refund. He refused so we no longer go there.

I switched to this vet after I felt my current vet was a bit expensive. I selected this vet because of good reviews and the fact that it was in a working class neighborhood. Figured it could not be overpriced. It was a great decision. The doctors are caring and friendly and it was much more reasonable. They do not gouge you for every little thing like my vet in the Bear Delaware area did. My cat had a serious neck injury and the follow up bandage change appointments were extremely reasonable. At the final one he also received another dose of antibiotics. My bill that day was $23! read more

So I took my step sister/Dad's dog there because her eye was infected. We sat and waited in the lobby for like 25min when their was hardly anyone in there. We finally got taken back to the Veterinarian and she didn't know what was wrong!! She just made a couple of guesses prescribed some meds and that was it. She suggested that we have are dog x-rayed for $450. Then go from there at addition cost. I would not recommend this veterinarian. read more

The staff is rude and unhelpful. The office manager and doctor treated my daughter and her cat so unkindly. She brought the cat to the office twice to euthanize and was treated like an animal abuser. She has spent 2 years and much money treating this cat and trying to figure out what is wrong with it. It has had tests, it has had medications.The cat can't breath. It is in distress. It is suffering. My daughter is once again at home crying with a cat that is suffering. My daughter was in the office crying and the office manager could care less. Very unprofessional. read more

My brother picked up medication for his dogs yesterday here and watched them turn away a woman with a sick dog crying because she didn't have $53 to give them. Even though she said she would pay for it and was holding her dog in her arms. My brother ended up going back in to pay for it so the woman could get help for her dog. Shame on them. I understand we all need to make money, but where is your compassion? I would never go to a vet that had staff that can be so cold and callus. read more

Took the dog since it stopped eating, saw dr. Jin. $450 and multiple tests later her diagnosis was that "the dog is getting old". Completely clueless, incompetent and unsympathetic. Took her for a second opinion elsewhere and right off the bat they found a volleyball sized mass in her stomach. How do you miss a volleyball? No, really, how? Completely unacceptable. read more
