Full disclosure; I may or may not be a petty man (I am).
At the moment, I am livid about the way I was just treated. So, this definitely would be a case of firing off a pissy missive (a pissive?) in the heat of anger. Righteous anger. Petty, righteous anger.
Now, I realize that people don't check out Yelp reviews before they pull into a gas station, but maybe they should (they shouldn't).
Here's the story...
I popped into the Circle K on Harbor Boulevard in West Sacramento this morning to cash in some of my investments. It turns out that I had inadvertently neglected to scratch the barcode on one of the crossword investments. The attendant just gave it back to me as if there was no solution to this dilemma. Upon request he begrudgingly slid me a penny (which he demanded to have back, by the way) so that I could do it myself. The barcode was slightly marred by my aggressive scraping so the scanner wouldn't read it, requiring him to enter the numbers manually, which he refused to do. I actually wanted to purchase more investments but, like my frustration, the queue behind me was growing and there is nothing I hate more than people who hold up the line fussing with their lotto... I mean investment strategies.
The logical thing to have done at this point would've been to cut my losses and scoot. However, it was snack time and they had two for $5 lunchables. A deal, by the way. So, I composed myself and calmly said "take the $5 from my dividends and give me the rest in cash, please".
This is when things went from ridiculous to infuriating.
He tried to charge me six bucks for my lunchables! The sign clearly said "2 for $5" so fhut the wuck?!?
I kindly informed him that he was an idiot.
At that point a slight Indian on Indian kerfuffle ensued. He actually had the stones to blame it on me! He said the sign was old, and that if I had read the small print, I would have known this.
I then reminded him that he was an idiot. He did not agree.
I told him to forget about the delicious snack and just give me my wampum.
He testily fished out the proper change for a five dollar purchase, slammed it down on the counter and then curtly waved me toward the door.
Impassioned by the injustice of this violation of cashier etiquette, I stormed out of the store. Then, a few minutes later, I stormed back into the store to give him an earful of my insightful and clever commentary on his behavior.
He told me to f*%k off.
I stormed out for a second time and got right to work on a scathing Yelp review.
Seriously though, this guy was a real jerk. I'm not sure if he is the owner or franchisee or just an employee but he's always there.
Totally unprofessional and totally unworthy of your business.
I honestly believe that the only way to improve the dire state of customer service in California is to make it hurt.
So make it hurt! read more
