At first I didn't like this 7/11 as it caters to mostly addicts and low income individuals that choose to harass me, as a woman that is a safety concern. But recently they've been forced to hire security which keeps loitering to a minimum and the pan handlers away. This 7/11 is conveniently located and open 24-7 incase of emergencies or late night munchies. The store isn't very clean. And most of the time the windows are broken into, but this visit the security stood right next to the register while I seen other patrons stealing food from the food section. Definitely normal for businesses downtown to deal with the unpleasant consumers. They accept EBT, cash and card. I only use tap pay to deter touching anything. All in all, the options are plentiful and they have everything you want or need, mostly at a premium price tag for the convenience.

Ok as far as convenience stores go, this place is clean! The attendant was nice, and very patient with the different guests that come in. The food though!!! This has got to be the only 7-11 I know that has fresh foods that look good. I actually wanted to eat here. He was preparing food as I was checking out and it looked good! There's also enough foot traffic, so the food is in rotation! If you need to stop for goods, come here !

Wow. New 7 eleven opened on J street. It's nice and clean inside. I hope they maintain it. They have 5 percent discount on the first day of the store opening. Unfortunately, with my bag of chips, they forgot to give me 5 percent discount. Haha. They sell the lottery tickets, coffee, donuts and etc. It's nice to have the store open on J street and working distance from my work place. The employees are funny and provide excellent customer service. If you need laugh for a day for free, go there. my coworkers and I came out giggling.

No big deal, just a perishable burger out on the shelf chillin next to the velveeta mac n cheese.

Good heavens, this place is a joke. Every single time I come here there are at least 3 sketchy individuals lurking out front either asking for money, cat-calling the ladies, trying to sell me headphones and a Billabong belt, or having one of those over the top mentally-unstable episodes. Every. Single. Time. It's like the Mecca for these types. A few days ago, I was in the store and some scraggly hobo woman is getting yelled at by a black lady because I guess the homeless called her the N word, and homegirl was livid and trying to step outside so they could squab. It had WORLDSTAAAARRR written all over it. This morning I stopped by at 3am for some snacks, and this older Indian worker yelled at me to leave because they were closing for an hour to mop the store, even though it's a 24-hour business, not a 23 hour! I mean, I get it, they have to deal with their duties, but it's possible to mop without yelling at customers in broken English to leave and temporarily closing. And after he yelled at me, he grabbed a stool and sat outside and started eating a banana while blaring some Bollywood music. Now, I must admit, I love me some Bollywood tunes, and was almost tempted to ask him for the artist/song name, but that man looked so grumpy and miserable that I decided to refrain. I would expect this type of customer service from any random convenience store on some corner, but certainly not from a 7-11. While I was getting rung up, some dude tried to come in the store and mr. Grumpy was all like NO! YOU NO COME IN WE CLOSED. And the dude was just like "Maaan, you trippin', I'm just tryina get some swishers real quick." and walks in anyway. It was hilarious. Anyway, I only come here because it's a few blocks away and always open. It's pretty janky and 3rd world, but they've got all the snacks. Even still, every time I come there's always some shit going on outside, and sometimes inside. I've certainly felt unsafe before, and that is no bueno. This place could use a security guard. One star for the WORLDSTAAAAAR 7-11.

And security was in the store using foul language in uniform prior to there shift. #81371

Once I entered, I could see why there were so many people trickling in, they had so many drinks I wanted to try! But I went with the banana matcha and vietnamese egg coffee. Both were delicious. I'm not in Sac much but if I were to come by this way more often, this would definitely be a place I'd pop into each time as part of the itinerary. Ambiance isn't anything crazy, its definitely spacious and a cool place to link up with friends or even do some work on your laptop. I would absolutely make my way back, especially to try other drinks!

The banana flavor paired surprisingly well with the matcha and made for a really refreshing drink. It was one of those drinks that I immediately knew I'd order again. But honestly, the highlight wasn't even the drink itself. It was the adorable little elephant vessel it came with. They put dry ice inside and then pour water into it, making it look like the elephant is blowing smoke out of its trunk. My daughter was completely mesmerized. Watching her reaction was worth the visit all by itself. What I loved most was that it wasn't just a gimmick. The drink was actually good, and the elephant made such a cute keepsake afterward. It felt like getting both a treat and a souvenir. The café itself had a fun atmosphere, and it was one of those places that felt a little different from your typical coffee or tea stop. Helpful tip: If it's your first visit, order one of the drinks served in the elephant. The presentation alone is worth it, especially if you're visiting with kids. Between the banana matcha and my daughter's excitement over the smoking elephant, this ended up being one of those unexpectedly memorable stops we'll be talking about for a while.

The Black Sesame French Toast was fantastic! We also got the Date-Orange Latte and the Salted Honey Lavender Latte, both tasted great! Our three drinks took less than 10 minutes, and I think the French Toast took exactly ten minutes. Not long at all, and it was busy when we were there(11am). My order was to-go, and they were all perfectly packaged! I so appreciate the front girl answering all my silly questions, the efficiency of the team, getting to watch the man in the kitchen do his work, and the clean and inviting presence of the place. My daughter brought in her baby milk and spilt some, only for one of the guys to clean it up quickly. I so appreciate you guys!! There was a challenge, as I also spoke with the front girl about, but parking is competitive. All the parking spots were taken. Some parking spots were reserved for the neighboring businesses, so I found parking on the roadside. Is it possible to expand the parking lot? It's tough to give patronage to this great business with this challenge. I suppose it's a good problem to have when many people want to come here ;)

My drink wasnt too sweet which I prefer. The hojicha latte was great as well! You don't see this often if at all so it was a pleasant surprise. The service was friendly and they were patient when I had questions on the standard vs the "twice" drinks. They have a shared parking lot which helps as they are off a busy stretch of road. The cons: They do not have size options for their beverages. Which for the most part isn't an issue except when I wanted a large drink. Which is why I bought 2. They partnered with Pastry Cat and unfortunately the common theme was they never had pastries even in 9am window. Not their fault but maybe partnering with a patisserie that offers consistent inventory might be worthwhile? The ambience is less "come and enjoy your drink" and more "we don't have enough seating"and use the space efficiently. I think if they update the layout of the tables and chairs, it would feel more inviting to sit for a bit or meet up with friends. The parking lot. It's terrible, crowded and people don't know how to park. I saw a couple of cars almost back into eachother while waiting and I was grateful I parked on the street and walked. Overall, the quality of the drinks and the friendliness are great and that receives 4 stars. If you want a quality matcha drink then give them a try. But I have access to other cafes that meet my needs; enough that Offbeat will be more of an off the beaten path option than a regular one.
