The Spindle mattress is a build it yourself mattress. It has 3 layers of latex and the mattress…read morecover, shipped in separate boxes. It's pretty easy to put together. The hardest part is getting each layer properly positioned on top of each other, but it's pretty straightforward to do this; it just may take some time to get right. The latex layers, each 3" thick, can be different densities, and one can fine tune support by adjusting which layer is where in the "sandwich", and each layer also has different support depending on which side is up, so in other words, quite a large range of adjustment. All the layers zip up easily into the cover. We also bought their foundation, and all this is on a separately purchased steel bed frame. We had been sleeping on a local brand queen size latex mattress and upgraded to a king size bed, so needed a new mattress. We filled out Spindle's comfort quiz and it said "medium", so that's what we ordered. Slept on it for a while, but it was not supportive enough, giving a hammock feel and a sore back. The layer layout recommended was Medium/Firm/Medium, and we tried M/M/F (firm as top layer) and this improved things a bit, but not enough. We sent off some email to their support, and they replied saying that we should call them because the nuances of comfort are best discussed person to person. We did this, and described our situation, including that our prior Queen was only a 6" mattress on slats, and after some discussion, the conclusion was that we should get another layer of Firm to replace one of our Mediums, to make a M/F/F sandwich. This modification was free. With this modification, we are completely happy with our Spindle. Cost is less than if we had bought a comparable mattress from the local place who produced our Queen, and Spindle support was great. [Note to Spindle: my handle is a pseudonym, in case you've tried to look me up, but if you have records of the order I described, you'll find me]

At the very least this makes the mattress lumpy, non-supportive and extremely uncomfortable. After 2 months of back and forth communication where we requested they send the correct length spring coils, (I sent measurements and took photos of everything and had to send them more than once) the Spindle rep either requested more information or said the "team" needed to review. So after two months of Spindle no commitment we requested a refund. To get a refund we had to document via receipt that we had disposed of the mattress at the dump. Refund was finally given. I do not recommend this company.

It was so easy, we bought a Purple mattress with an adjustable base in under an hour. He and his wife started this business after their own experience with a toxic mattress. While these beds are not cheap, the fact that they are not toxic was worth it to us. We purchased a King size Naturepedic Eos Pillowtop which allowed us to have both latex and springs, and different choices for layers for myself and my husband. I like a softer mattress and my husband likes his side very firm. No problem and no compromise needed. We each created the mattress we wanted that worked for us. In terms of sleeping with someone who is an active sleeper we don't feel that like we did on our old mattress. We have had the bed now over six months so now I feel I can genuinely write this review and attest to the fact this was the best purchase for us. Having different layers has meant that we don't feel it when the other person moves or rolls over. It also means that I can have my side the way I like it with the layers that create the best sleeping experience for me and my husband can have his side super firm the way he prefers. It also means we can just swap out a component later on, many years from now, by just unzipping the mattress cover, and not have to replace or have to choose a mattress all over again which is so awesome. John was great about answering my many questions and they all were so wonderful with the number of times we tried different beds, how long we stayed in the store to really see what worked, and how many questions I had. I also like this store because they have a lot of different makers in addition to Naturepedic so we could really make sure this was the right brand for us. Delivery was perfect. And they even moved our mattress and headboard into the guest room and set it up there. We watched the set up of our new bed in amazement. It was quick and easy. No Off-gassing! Yup, no yucky smell! Not At All! Not from the first moment we had the bed. They also called to check on us after having the bed. I sleep 1000% better now... and while we didn't have to change layers, if we had needed to change layers it would have been free so none of this extra $250 a layer swap that we saw with other stores. So awesome for me because I was concerned I'd need that. Fitbit data has helped me confirm that I've had much better quality sleep, and more sleep in a night, but of course I knew that. I get better sleep, and my Fitbit shows that I get more REM sleep and more deep sleep and sleep sounder, more restful, and it's healthier option-- not full of those chemicals other makers often use. FYI, adjusting to latex and springs wasn't challenging. Also, they will come to your house to turn or rotate/flip the layers although with different sides it's a snap to do it if you aren't doing that alone. Again just piece of mind. And no I haven't been paid or anything-- I don't work for them or anything. I'm just super happy that this really was a purchase I'm so grateful for as sleep is a beautiful thing! I've recommended them to friends who also want a new bed and one that's not with those awful chemicals. I would 1000 percent buy from them again.

They showed us types of washers we weren't even considering, and we ended up with an awesome Bosch unit. 6 months later, I accidentally screwed something up on it, and Hudson Appliance was out within a week to fix it, for free. Recently went back to get a new refrigerator as ours was going. They have reworked their salesfloor and practices to be COVID safe, and take it very seriously. It is very much appreciated. And while fridges were extremely back ordered due to the pandemic, Hudson Appliance was really communicative about what was going on, how long we would probably have to wait, and gave us the option to get a refund at any point. New fridge came in, team again was great, and safe during their delivery.
