We had Mark Evans out to replace one ring camera and to bring another back online. He was terrific…read more He showed us the receipt for the camera and told us what the installation would cost before he began so that there would be no surprises. He also tailored the field for each camera to avoid cars driving by triggering a ring alert. More importantly, he worked with us and Ring Customer support for an extended period to bring all three cameras online. Due to some Ring technical glitch, only 2 of the 3 cameras were showing in our Ring phone apps. His expertise saved the day. We would not have been nearly as successful navigating with Ring without Mark to guide the conversation. I might also add that he is exceedingly patient as it took 3 calls with Ring before the problem was fixed.

I needed my lock replaced on the security door…read more I called this company and they sent out a technician. The technician let us know that the lock would need to be replaced (this was a diagnostic call) and offered to put WD-40 into the lock as a temporary solution. He did so, and this visit costed $250. The solution only worked for about one week before the door stopped working again. Then later, they gave us an invoice with an estimate on it for what it would cost to change the lock. It's an old lock and a simple brand of lock (Marks- a very common brand). They offered to fix the door for over $1500. Now this immediately seemed extremely excessive to me. My partner and I hesitated. We actually just let the situation go, thinking maybe we'll just use the back door since this seems like a really costly repair. Fortunately, months later, I had decided to do a deep dive. I noticed a few things: the invoice they sent was extremely vague, not listing what brand of lock they were trying to replace it with how much labor costed how much the Lock would cost- none of that. It simply said labor plus parts equals $1500. I looked at other companies in the area and eventually came across TOP LOCKSMITH SERVICES. Can you tell me why TOP LOCKSMITH SERVICES offered to do the job for 520 something dollars? They were extremely kind, courteous, way, more honest and transparent, and on top of all that they were flexible. I don't know if you can answer the question posed at the beginning of this paragraph, but I have a question for you: WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU GO TO A COMPANY THAT'S GONNA CHARGE YOU THREE TIMES AS MUCH? Stop playing with me. Y'all need to call Top Locksmith Services if you need help with a lock.

It feels weird to post a review of a business I only used once three and half years ago (to rekey…read morelocks on our then new home). But then again, it's weird to receive a past due notice from a business three and half years after the one time you used them, for a bill that was paid at the time of service. I didn't really appreciate the out-of-the-blue messages demanding either payment or proof of prior payment. Seems like Keyed In has some issues in the accounting department.

For clarity, I want to respond to a few points…read more My feedback is based on my direct experience during this project. From the beginning, I communicated that this was a time-sensitive issue tied to a Department of Buildings notice and that we needed a straightforward repair. However, there was a disconnect in scope, which led to delays, an incorrect part being ordered, and additional costs beyond the original estimate. I did raise concerns during the process, particularly regarding scope and communication. My intention was always to resolve the issue efficiently, not create conflict. After the job was completed and I provided a rating, I was contacted and asked to remove it. At that time, I was still open to continuing to work together and even mentioned additional projects. However, the focus of that conversation was on removing the review rather than addressing the concerns raised. As a customer, that made me uncomfortable. Payment was completed, and my review reflects the overall experience--not a dispute over payment. I value strong vendor relationships and clear communication, which is why I provided feedback. This response is simply to clarify my experience for accuracy. For additional clarity, I want to address the follow-up communication after my rating. After I submitted my rating, I was contacted and asked to remove it. During that conversation, I was still open to continuing to work together and mentioned additional work. However, the focus remained on removing the review, and I was later informed that the company would not move forward with any future business. As a client, that approach was concerning. In my experience, feedback is typically addressed by resolving the issue or improving communication--not by requesting that a review be removed. My intention has always been to work collaboratively and maintain strong vendor relationships. This response is simply to provide accurate context for my experience.

Edit: a woman from the business called to ask about this, which is understandable. She was very upset and emotional and I was unable to get her to tell me what she was hoping to accomplish from the call. There were some accusations towards me as well, indicating that I'd done something to deserve the harassment- which is weird all around - so I'm not sure if she thinks customers ask for harassment and want to be called and texted consistently by employees, and if there are some instances in which they deserve it? This experience underlines that there are other businesses to patronize.

The locksmith from the Lock Doctor came and just bent a piece of metal in the mechanism that had become warped in the cold weather. Needless to say, the bill was nowhere near $895. BTW, the Lock Doctor locksmith told me there is a nationwide scam going on with locksmiths. I found an article at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19714358/ if you want to learn more. If the locksmith you are using wants to be paid upfront, jacks up the price after doing the work, or works out of a fake address, you should beware. The first locksmith I had called had an address at 14th and Park roads right around the corner from me, but I later went by there and there was no locksmith anywhere on the block. Postscript: someone noted that the locksmith I recommend doesn't have a specific address, which is kind of funny given my comments above. I believe he works only on-site and doesn't maintain a physical store front (as scammer locksmith I used first fraudulently advertised). He lives in Logan Circle, so that represents the area from which he works.
