Great food! The best Indian food in the Hudson River Valley. Been going there for years and send many of my guests there. Best lamb korma!

We loved the food at Cinnamon. It was great to know the origin of the various dishes, some new to us. We have eaten Lasuni Gobi before and we're not disappointed. The Kodi Veppudu was new to us and didn't disappoint. The big surprises were the dosas, which are not standard selections in most Indian restaurants. The Masala Dosa was a treat. All the portions were generous. Next time we are in the area we will definitely stop by. read more

Very unhappy with this restaurant tonight. While the food was good, the service was terrible. First, they didn't have our reservation. ( I sat by my husband while he called to make sure they were going to be opened and confirmed for 6:30pm.) We were seated after at least a 10 minute wait, but by 7:25, we still didn't have any food. We didn't order appetizers, they didn't have what we wanted, papadum, just drinks and two main courses. And a bread. We have gone to this restaurant many times before over the years but never experienced anything like tonight. We won't be going back. I don't know if the kitchen was off or the waitstaff, but something was terribly wrong. BTW, our waiter never came by to let us know what was going on. What a delicious meal. The smells upon entering were delightful. The seating is family style in the main room with smaller tables in a second room. Our lamb bit appetizer was amazing!! We could have ordered plates of it for dinner. We had two different lamb dinner plates and a prawn dish. Everything was delightful. The apps didn't come out at the same time or both before the dinner but the flavor was so good we forgave the mistake in timing. We were so satisfied with the amount of food, we didn't have room for dessert. We can't wait to come back and try more menu items. read more

I have been waiting to try this place for a while now and finally got to experience it on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. The ambiance & service was good; servers are attentive & polite. The quality of the food is low & overall didn't leave me satisfied. This is good for those who can't handle the real spice or aroma of indian food (by spice I don't just mean that the food wasn't spicy) or are new to indian food. As a native of India, their food doesn't have aroma or the spices in authentic indian food, it was rather bland. So, whether you're indian or not, if you're used to of good indian food, you may not be pleased with their food. We ordered the masala dosa & were close to being just boiled potatoes. Murgh makhni is supposed to be creamy and full of flavor unfortunately that was missing as well. I did enjoy the saag paneer, andhra chicken & garlic naan. read more

Come here if you'd like an extra CRUNCH in your meal. Good food other than the fact I bit into a big piece of SHARP broken glass in my lamb entree. ALSO my girlfriend found a chunk of wood in her chicken masala... NO REFUND or any apology from the manager or staff. Slow service and the servers had no idea whether we ordered, ate appetizers, or were ready for dessert... all while waiting to ORDER. It wasn't even that busy. Next time I am going back it will be for a full refund. Couldn't even enjoy leftovers without thinking there might be glass or wood in the next bite. The chef should consider checking the food before extra things that are apparently flying around the kitchen end up in the next persons meal. read more

On the way over to Germantown, we were looking to pick up some food. It was getting late and our hopes of getting good was low. We were definitely up for a surprise though. If you want to make a reservation for 7:30, show up at 7:25, be put on a list with others in front of you who had no reservation, get seated 20 minutes later next to a freezing window, wait 15 minutes for a server, order a drink, and apps with food, then abouut 45 minutes later with no further waiter interaction, receive your app, then have the wait staff return and ask what you ordered for dinner...and get your dinner about two hours AFTER arriving, this is your place. The food was ok...certainly not bad...but I would say ok. Oh...and the 2 beers I ordered were $3/bottle MORE than listed on the menu. read more

I went to cinnamon for their buffet since their big move to downtown Rhinebeck. I feel like the taste of the food shifted dramatically. As in got less seasoned and more Rhinebeck less Indian. The soup was so bland, and the buffet fish lacked seasoning at all. The one redemptive dish was the malai kofta which was tasty. The saag, lamb, and chicken tikka were all tastier at the other location before the move. The bartender was kind and nice. The Service was Meh and the food. I really didn't like the food and how under seasoned it was. I was the only poc in the establishment aside from the servers and staff and perhaps they cater to a different palate. Not an Indian one. They were loving up that food, I on the other hand would not recommend it to friends or family. Sadly, beforehand, it was some of the best Indian food I had had, and especially In the Hudson Valley. Side note, they open the doors and there's an abundance of flies on the Buffet items from Condiments, salads, and such. I didn't touch any of it because flies were flying in and out of the food and all around. That alone made me want to leave, but was was so hungry. Then the flies buzzed around the table. First, the good news: It is a pleasant space. I know it very well because I knew the owner of the previous restaurant there, and the owners of Cinnamon have appointed it very tastefully. The decor and the menus are lovely. This was my second try at Cinnamon, and, like the first time, I found the experience mostly pleasant, but stupidly expensive. For the price point I expected much better service, but I had to go in search of our waiter more than once. That's unacceptable in any restaurant, but certainly it's unacceptable in a restaurant which charges a premium cost. Indian food, by the way, is not really expensive food to make. I grew up cooking Indian food in several styles, and I make it a point to try Indian restaurants when I travel. Lunch for my daughter and me, with only a mango lassi to drink, was $76 without tip. For Indian food, that's an expensive lunch. I have had superb Indian dishes in other restaurants for less than half the cost. Do I recommend Cinnamon? Depends on how much money you have and whether you are aware of the cost factor of cooking Indian food. One good point, they really do offer some nice spice in the spicy dishes. That's a good thing. But for marginal service and a very high price point, I think I'm done with this place. read more

My gf and I reserved for 7.30pm and arrived on time. There was a short wait for the table, we were seated at 7.40pm. We ordered one beer, one glass of wine, two mains and a naan bread. The food did not arrive until 9pm - a 1hr 20min wait to eat. We ordered a second drink to pass the time and the server admittedly completely forgot the order - he was on a different planet. There was no proactive apology for the delay, no offer to reduce the bill etc. The reason I am giving this two stars is the food was great. I don't get it. I saw reviews claiming this was the best Indian food they've ever eaten. Maybe these people are eating at a middle school cafeteria or something. I'm used to Indian food from many places in NJ, Philly area and even time in Mumbai. All great stuff. Here? I'm not exaggerating when I say I think the chicken tikka masala was in cambell's tomato soup as the sauce. It wasn't good at all. The other plates weren't nearly as good as random strip mall Indian food in NJ, PA either. It was also VERY expensive for no apparent reason. The ambience was meh. Great food, wonderful atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff, creative drinks. EXCELLENT FOR PEOPLE WITH DIETARY RESTRICTIONS OR ALLERGIES! The menu is clearly marked and the staff is very knowledgeable about the ingredients and can accommodate pretty much any food restriction. My mother has severe celiac (can't eat gluten) and they've perfectly accommodated us for years. As a vegan, I'd personally suggest the Bagara Bai Gan, a spicy yet creamy eggplant dish. Their Goat Cheese Naan is orgasmic! They use a ton of local and organic ingredients too. Their cocktails all look so good, it's hard to choose just one! read more

We've been eating here for a couple years now and the food is hit or miss. Sometimes great but not consistent by any means. If you place an order online, don't expect it to actually be ready when they say. I placed my order and they called me when it was supposed to be ready and told me that they were just getting to it and that it was sold out. Why does it take 25 minutes to call me and tell me the order is sold out ? I was already outside the restaurant, about to pick up the food when they called. They had no problem charging my card immediately after placing the order. There is such good potential for this place. They just can't seem to pull it together. Had visited Cinnamon before when they were on Route 9 with a group and was satisfied with the experience. When I heard they moved into Rhinebeck, I was ecstatic as it was slim pickings of ethnic cuisine to choose from. I was there for lunch around 12:30pm. We were seated and catered to right away. The waiters were personable and knowledgeable about the menu. I decided to have the Bombay burger which came out great! Overall, lunch was pleasant and I loved the decor! Prices remind me of Manhattan. The lunch menu portions could be bigger though. read more

This was really freaking good. My husband and I came for my birthday and we were not disappointed. I had saag paneer because it's my favorite thing in the world and they did a fantastic job. And my husband had chicken something or other with rose water something or other and good lord it was good. We were very happy with everything. The only thing I could critique is the atmosphere. Was excited to try this restaurant given the decor and me wanting non- new American / Italian. The entree ended up taking close to an hour to arrive... and it was just eggplant and naan. I was surprised by the aloofness of the hostess and the waiter (who did later on apologize for the delay). Did nothing to make me want to come back. This is the third time we've dined here. We travel over an hour each way to come to this special place and I'll admit upfront that it breaks my heart to have to write a three star review. My original review three years ago was five star. I'll begin by saying we dined on a Saturday night (we usually come for lunch) and maybe that's where things fell apart. We dined early (5pm) and had a reservation. I highly recommend reservations, because they filled up quickly and we watched several people walk away because tables were full. We were seated quickly (if you make reservations request by the window, we were seated in the back of the side dining room where it's kind of dark and drab), and the waiter brought sparkling water and took our drink orders quickly. I highly recommend the mango margarita! The first disappointment of the evening came when we were told they weren't making dosas that night. Their dosa are phenomenal and we talked about having them the whole time we were driving up so that was a major let down. We settled on the samosas, naan and both kebab for appetizers. Here was the second HUGE issue of the night, our appetizers and dinners all came at the same time!! The tables are small and there was not enough room for everything!! The server looked annoyed as he stood there while we tried to figure out how to get everything on the table. Instead of offering to bring a tray on a stand he continued to stand there looking peeved while I finally put the basket of naan on my lap and we overlapped dishes. It really put a crimp in our anniversary celebration. I watched as the same issue happened to the table across from us as the two women put their basket of naan on their lap and drinks and rice bowls on the window ledge to fit everything. It was absolutely ridiculous to be expected to dine that way. The evening continued on a downhill slide when the multiple waitstaff walked around aimlessly with water bottles in their hand, but never lifted a finger to clear empty dishes off the table. I watched as a waiter stood next to the table across from us (also still filled with empty dishes) and witnessed the poor diner trying to sign the credit slip while balancing it on top of their take out containers and dirty dishes!!! The waiter stood there looking impatient instead of removing the dishes so there was room to sign the bill on the table!! Inexcusable in a restaurant of this caliber. I will say the food is the real star here and may be some of the best in the valley. The poor service overshadowed the what could have been an exceptional meal. read more
