The best part about this pub though is the beer garden / dining garden. This has to be the best beer garden I have seen, with a lovely brook running through middle and water/marginal planting which looks amazing. The staff are very efficient at carrying out your meals from the main building, across the bridge, to your outdoor table. Inside there are plenty of windows to look out onto the garden. We had a dog with us and the waiter immediately brought out a bowl of water (silver service style), so they were very dog friendly. The menu was really good featuring local produce and a variety of cuisines. The restaurant is a little pricey but this does reflect the amazing setting and garden. Make sure you sit int he garden or grab a window seat inside.

We definitely look forward to each time we go and have been going here for 10+ years. In winter the fireplace is going and keeps it nice and warm. With two dining areas and outside seating (with a heated area too), there is a bit of room for groups and recommend booking for any special event. The food is always good and prepared using fresh, local ingredients. Recommend the Pork Medallions and any fish dish available. The cook is humble but gifted. You can also reserve a room as well. We do so when we have friends or family in. This is the only place we go to for the all year round. We rate this pub very highly for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, the staff are always friendly and understand customer service very well. I don't think the prices are any more expensive than any other Chinese restaurant - but even if they are, the quality of the food at the Jade would certainly justify it. The peking and thai feast is particularly popular and great value if there's a group of you - three courses including an excellent selection of hors d'oeuvres, crispy duck, and a selection of main courses for under 20 quid a head - and believe me, there's plenty of food for your money! Special occasions such as christmas and new year are brilliant fun at the Jade as Frankie, the owner, will put on the karaoke system (although as everywhere the price goes up a little on those nights). I don't have a bad word to say really - it's the best chinese restaurant i've ever been to, anywhere. The food at the Szechuan Inn is a blend of Chinese and Thai influences…read more I called in with a friend one early Sunday evening and ordered starters of Smoked Chicken, garlic prawns sate and salt and pepper squid. The garlic prawns were changed at the staff's suggestion to some jumbo ones which were skewered and filled with garlic - very tasty. The smoked chicken was very tasty too, but the star amongst the starters was the salt and pepper squid which was the nicest squid I have ever had anywhere not overcooked and rubbery, and with a subtle flavour which was complimented by the spring onions, garlic and chillies in the sauce. This was followed but a quarter of crispy duck, which too was very good. At this point we had had enough, so we didn't have a main course. I have only been once, but if my first visit is anything to go by I will return Great food and a helpful staff are waiting for you at the Szechuan Inn. The food was reasonable value, but if you want a bargain I suggest you try their Sunday fixed-price buffet.
