Absolutely a breath of fresh air to Newbury centre. I can't believe this is a chain store & restaurant. It's rustic inside and reminds me of another super place in Sydney - Jamie's - which is cosy and a bit shabby chic at the same time. Food was great. Kids meals were proper decent food and the wine was also excellent for a change. Highly recommended.

Got a veggie dish! It was so delicious!

Great food and great service. This is a staple place when I visit Newbury because I expect the same quality of food and friendly service.

I got the last space, but I couldn't see if overflow parking was available. The appetisers were very good and beautifully presented. The duck that my friend had looked wonderful. Our main courses were very good. The cod was lovely and the steaks were nice. My steak was a little fatty and I found the gristle very chewy on the end piece. I also like my triple cooked chips a little more crispy, but that's just my taste. The desserts were lovely and again beautifully presented. The ginger cake with chocolate mousse and the ganache plate were particularly good. The table next to us has the beef wellington and I would definitely order that if I went again. It looked phenomenal! Overall a lovely experience.

This restaurant excels at everything it seems..what a delight!…read more - Beautiful indoor and outdoor seating - Perfect service, attentive but not too much - Small thoughtful extras - Excellent food - Very well priced Came in for lunch. Had the 3 course lunch menu for £38 (what a steal!). Lamb belly for starter was delicious, well seasoned and put together dish. Mains I tried the pork collar which was very good but the house made black pudding was phenomenal, best I have ever had..inventively spiced, wish I could buy a kilo to take home. Dessert was fig leaf panna cotta, light and flavoursome. Had a coffee with dessert which was also excellent. Its very clear that they try to do everything to the best standard possible. Wish I lived closer.

We were comfortably seated in the back room and quickly served by the wait staff. Baby Girl M decided on fried Brie (Jesus take the wheel!) and progressed to the standard ham and cheese sandwich - the Brie far out stripped the sandwich. Glammom went traditional with fish and chips - standard. Momma K - Prawn and crab salad / wonderfully prepared and tasty! I decided to try the lamb pie - talk about comfort food! Although really set up to give tourists the old "English pub field", it was a good time and good food. Frankly, I love the fact that restaurants and businesses in England are also dog friendly. So, OK this was a tad touristy but definitely worth a go!

Our room consisted of a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and an interconnecting kitchenette. It also had a shower room. Beds were very comfortable, rooms were spacious and the shared kitchen (in addition to the kitchenette in the room) contained breakfast foodstuffs. To top it off you wake up overlooking Watership down. What more could you ask for? Great value accommodation, would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to visit this area.

Well, it was a good thing we did, since we didn't get to go back for afternoon tea... Just as the name suggests, it is located right by the canal. It was very picturesque, peaceful and relaxing. They also have seating upstairs, and had histories on the canal, with photos posted all around the wall. Their cakes looked amazing, but I decided not to order any dessert on this day. Yes I know, a big mistake! Our friend ordered Heavenly Hot Chocolate, and it looked so pretty! We went with Teashop House Blend Tea, and Earl Grey. The young boy who brought the teas (I hear this is a family-run business) was trying to very careful not to mix them up. But the funny thing was, he totally mixed the tea up! LOL. We didn't realize until half way through... I thought the House Blend tea tasted so much like Earl Grey. For lunch, we had Ham, Cheese & Chutney Sandwich and Eggs Benedict. They were both tasty, nice portion, and filling. Our friend went with something healthier, and ordered one of their vegan sandwiches. It is nice to have that option if you want or need vegan dish. We had a nice quick lunch here. It was adorable and cozy. The food was good, not amazing, but good. I think the sweets might be better than the actual food...I will never know, unless I go back! Lesson learned: don't never expect your plan to go just the way you planned them...and have your dessert first!
