Well, it was a good thing we did, since we didn't get to go back for afternoon tea... Just as the name suggests, it is located right by the canal. It was very picturesque, peaceful and relaxing. They also have seating upstairs, and had histories on the canal, with photos posted all around the wall. Their cakes looked amazing, but I decided not to order any dessert on this day. Yes I know, a big mistake! Our friend ordered Heavenly Hot Chocolate, and it looked so pretty! We went with Teashop House Blend Tea, and Earl Grey. The young boy who brought the teas (I hear this is a family-run business) was trying to very careful not to mix them up. But the funny thing was, he totally mixed the tea up! LOL. We didn't realize until half way through... I thought the House Blend tea tasted so much like Earl Grey. For lunch, we had Ham, Cheese & Chutney Sandwich and Eggs Benedict. They were both tasty, nice portion, and filling. Our friend went with something healthier, and ordered one of their vegan sandwiches. It is nice to have that option if you want or need vegan dish. We had a nice quick lunch here. It was adorable and cozy. The food was good, not amazing, but good. I think the sweets might be better than the actual food...I will never know, unless I go back! Lesson learned: don't never expect your plan to go just the way you planned them...and have your dessert first!

After our local 'date night' restaurant closed, my partner and I, were seeking a new place that…read morecould provide me with delicious gluten free meals and him with the same but in 'normal' style. I have to say we were both disappointed by our meals. As we were new customers we decided to only order gluten free, this in itself is a wonderful option that I am very excited to see becoming standard norm across a lot of these chain restaurants. But in their pursuit to cater this option have forgotten the basics, flavour and taste. I have to confess that I find it a little insulting to have a couple of slices of Genius bread given as a substitute for, as we could see on other tables, a gorgeous baked baguette that is beautifully warmed. This does not constitute an acceptable replacement for the glutenous part of the 'normal' dishes. Stale cardboard bread aside, the French onion soup was nice. I wasn't over balled by its flavour at first but a touch more seasoning and it was more suited to my palette, if not just a little bitter. My dining adventure finished with the Bouillabaisse. What a mistake on my part, I would usually take a little more care and attention in how I describe something I have eaten but on this occasion I believe I could summarise in a few exacting words; over cooked, under seasoned and broken shell shards. I would like to say that I will be back and would love to give them a second chance, after all everyone has an off night and perhaps this was just one of those nights. But in reality I have to confess this is unlikely to happen, a disappointing meal, for two, for around £60 is one that I would prefer not to have to experience again in the future.

We were comfortably seated in the back room and quickly served by the wait staff. Baby Girl M decided on fried Brie (Jesus take the wheel!) and progressed to the standard ham and cheese sandwich - the Brie far out stripped the sandwich. Glammom went traditional with fish and chips - standard. Momma K - Prawn and crab salad / wonderfully prepared and tasty! I decided to try the lamb pie - talk about comfort food! Although really set up to give tourists the old "English pub field", it was a good time and good food. Frankly, I love the fact that restaurants and businesses in England are also dog friendly. So, OK this was a tad touristy but definitely worth a go!

Our room consisted of a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and an interconnecting kitchenette. It also had a shower room. Beds were very comfortable, rooms were spacious and the shared kitchen (in addition to the kitchenette in the room) contained breakfast foodstuffs. To top it off you wake up overlooking Watership down. What more could you ask for? Great value accommodation, would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to visit this area.
