The building again is amazing. Bill has a way of choosing places with real character and this old house is the perfect setting. Upstairs there are two private dining rooms one with an enormous farmhouse table perfect for sitting large parties all together. The food is again, wonderful. I feel that the desserts didn't look quite as amazing as they do in Brighton. They were a bit mean on the fruit front, they also charge you per portion of bread, even though the portions are tiny. My final whinge will be that the didn't let us book as we wanted to eat at 6.30 but when we got there made quite a bit of a fuss about the fact the hadn't booked. The staff were all very confused. They had a lovely selection of drinks and I enjoyed a very modest Hedgerow Fizz which was a mere £3.501 In this area, you will not find better food, ethically sourced anywhere else. It really is quite wonderful. They also have a food store here and do hampers for gifts with goodies like Berkshire honey and Bill's homemade chilli jelly. I wasn't over balled by its flavour at first but a touch more seasoning and it was more suited to my palette, if not just a little bitter. My dining adventure finished with the Bouillabaisse. What a mistake on my part, I would usually take a little more care and attention in how I describe something I have eaten but on this occasion I believe I could summarise in a few exacting words; over cooked, under seasoned and broken shell shards. I would like to say that I will be back and would love to give them a second chance, after all everyone has an off night and perhaps this was just one of those nights. But in reality I have to confess this is unlikely to happen, a disappointing meal, for two, for around £60 is one that I would prefer not to have to experience again in the future.

The wine menu showed a broad range of excellent choices from all over the world, which was refreshing compared to the almost all-California wine menu (as you would expect) in San Francisco. Our appetisers and main courses were things of beauty - almost too well presented to want to spoil. But spoil we did, and the fantastic range of flavours left us sated... but still with some room for dessert. A "happy birthday" message was kindly written on to my wife's dessert plate, and we were given after dinner treats along with an extremely reasonable bill.
