Wow! Classic western English pub (ok, high class) fare. Near Highclere castle, the carpenters arms offers a fantastic lunch and a wonderful view of the western English countryside.
We were comfortably seated in the back room and quickly served by the wait staff. Baby Girl M decided on fried Brie (Jesus take the wheel!) and progressed to the standard ham and cheese sandwich - the Brie far out stripped the sandwich. Glammom went traditional with fish and chips - standard. Momma K - Prawn and crab salad / wonderfully prepared and tasty! I decided to try the lamb pie - talk about comfort food!
Although really set up to give tourists the old "English pub field", it was a good time and good food. Frankly, I love the fact that restaurants and businesses in England are also dog friendly.
So, OK this was a tad touristy but definitely worth a go! read more
