I rarely leave reviews, but I feel strongly compelled to write this one so other customers don't walk into the same situation I did. My experience at Cindy's Alterations was frustrating, confusing, and left me feeling taken advantage of due to a complete lack of transparency and communication. From the moment I walked in, there was no clear discussion of pricing. I brought in an item expecting a straightforward alteration, but instead of explaining options and costs upfront, additional services were suggested in a casual way that made them sound minor and necessary. At no point was I given a clear breakdown of what those services would cost, nor was I asked to formally agree to a final price. As someone without experience in tailoring or alterations, I relied on the professional to explain what was being done and what it would cost. That didn't happen. There was no estimate, no written quote, and no verbal confirmation of price before the work was started. I wasn't told, "This will cost X," or even given a range. I was simply guided along as if everything being suggested was standard and reasonable. When I returned to pick up the item, I was shocked by the final bill. The price was far higher than expected, especially considering I was never informed of the cost beforehand. At that point, you're essentially stuck-- the work is already done, and you're pressured into paying a price you never knowingly agreed to. That is not how ethical customer service works. What made this experience worse was the attitude when I expressed confusion about the cost. Instead of acknowledging the lack of communication or explaining the charges clearly, I was made to feel as though I should have known better. That's not fair to customers, especially those who don't regularly use alteration services and trust the business to be honest and upfront. A reputable business should always explain pricing clearly before performing any work. Customers should not have to ask repeatedly or guess what something might cost. Transparency is basic customer service, and unfortunately, it was completely missing here. This review isn't about the quality of the stitching--it's about the experience. Even if the work itself is acceptable, that doesn't excuse unclear pricing practices or putting customers in uncomfortable positions where they feel pressured to pay unexpected charges. Fantastic work! I had 3 pairs of pants hemmed there and they did a great job. Very professional staff, decent pricing and the work was done 2 days later. While I was there, a gentleman had 2 bags of shirts to get altered. Apparently, he brings all of his new shirts there every year. I see why they have repeat customers! I will absolutely go back if I need any alterations done. read more

My experience with Cindy was excellent. She is so conscientious and goes out of her way to help. She educates you on how to dress and how to lace up your wedding gown. I would highly recommend her. She also took care of my bridesmaids, especially correcting mistakes made on one of my bridesmaids dresses by another seamstress at the last minute. Just amazing.... My experience at Cindy's Alterations was nothing but perfect. I had my bridal gown, as well as all my bridesmaids, flower girls and mother's dresses all done there. I would highly recommend this shop to everyone. My dress fit perfect, they had to take It in where there was beading and lace and they finished and re beaded it perfectly you couldn't tell it was touched. When I picked it up it was nicely steamed and all the wrinkles were all out, she taught us how to package it to travel with as well taught all my bridesmaids tricks and ways to properly get me in the dress and to lace it up nicely. I found a new place and will NEVER go elsewhere! They were friendly, quick, clean, reasonable and professional. I went in to fix my dress today for a wedding and they suggested to do something that made my dress look better on me and was cheeper which made me feel confident on their service and that I wasn't being taken advantage of. I came to Cindy a few years ago with my wedding coming around. Cindy led me to belive that she could order the exact dress I wanted in for me (so i wouldnt have to travel to Kitchener) and i trusted her. When it came in it was NOTHING like the wedding dress I wanted, and showed her pictures of (style, design, designer etc) She charged me more for the entire dress plus alterations than the dress cost in the boutique. She was rude and incompetent. Besides the dress being of cheap quality material , sewn all worng, missing key elements...etc she had ivory beads mixed in with white on my snow white dress...unevenly distributed...etc I had to repeatedly come in and all the way through the dress looked awful and wrong. the day before my wedding when i went to pick it up she still didnt get the beading right (there was more beadwork-very visibly! on one side as opposed to being evenly distributed). She didnt even extend the boning through the sides to hold the dress up (it was strapless). Toomuch awfulness to write here! Its 3 years later and i am still in tears over it! One of her associates was also very rude. Especially to my 87year old grandmother who came to get her dress fitted properly. SHe was rude and impatient (as my grandmother moves slowly at her age) Never will i go back. Wish I had never stepped foot in there!!!!! read more
