I was very motivated to work on diet and lifestyle changes as I wanted to prevent more serious health issues down the road. Also, my counselor had suggested nutrition counseling before looking at medication options for anxiety. Ellen and I set six-month goals together, and I immediately made some changes to my diet based on her recommendations while we waited for results of comprehensive lab work. Once those results came back, Ellen made additional diet, lifestyle and supplement recommendations to address the results, and I started on a 12-week healing protocol. The specific therapist matters--a lot. People sometimes hire me to help them find the right therapist. I've met so many at this point. I've met practitioners with licenses who cause more harm than good, good therapists who help their clients get to another/better level of functioning and feeling, and then Zana, who is the best therapist I've been honored to refer others to, and to be guided by. She is everything an outstanding therapist needs to be: compassionate, available, wise, reflective, well-versed in many methods, and able to help clients to heal and thrive. I do feel as though the reviews I left possibly was a factor in my appointment request finally being answered, and actually the fact that I had left reviews on yelp and google did come up during my evaluation process, but however it ended up getting done I suppose it doesn't really matter in the long run. I am glad we were able to finally connect, and I was able to get the help I was seeking. Our successful social interaction might have been due to my heightened social awareness at the time of the appointment, in addition to her creativity/ experience with psychiatric disorders. I advise you don't go into any first appointment with a psychiatrist in a confused or emotional state, or a weakened state at all, period, if at all possible.

Although this neurologist's understanding of his discipline seems acceptable, his bedside manner is…read moreso abysmal that it almost renders his medical proficiency irrelevant. He needs sensitivity training or training on how to conceal his contempt for his patients more effectively. He was rude, abrasive, and condescending. So he is only recommended if you don't mind being treated with utter contempt. He actually seems to understand neurology quite well, but doesn't convey respect for his patients. I would only go to him if there were no other neurologists on the continent because I don't enjoy being treated as subhuman (although masochists might enjoy him).
