My issues were not with Cincy Rent, but the owners they represent, KLH Properties. I cannot recommend renting from them in the Prospect Hill area. I had a bathroom shelf falling off the wall due to being hung incorrectly. I reinstalled the shelf and patched the old location. Lesa had the nerve to charge me $700 to fix a couple of holes! Also, Lesa recommended the cleaning company to prep for my departure. After the move out she actually complained about the job they did to me. If you do rent from them, do not expect to see your deposit returned. read more

They charged us $100 because the air filter was "sucked up into the furnace" even though we replaced it the day before we moved out and charged us $400 for cleaning some spots off of a base board. Do not rent any property from this company. I had seen an apartment for rent sign and I went to get a walk-through of the place. They showed up late and finally about 20 minutes later I was walked through for an inspection of the building. The apartment was on the bottom floor in the facility looked a little bit dilapidated in the appliances were all old.. I was told that the application fee would be an Enormous $40 which seemed a bit Absurd to me as most companies will waive the application fee or at least just be at about 25. I paid the money upfront and didn't hear back from them for about two weeks. Finally I checked up with them myself and they told me they had thrown my application out and we're keeping my money because of they didn't trust that I would pay them on time. The lady that I talked to was very rude to me and extremely abrupt. If they were just going to steal my $40 they should've had a better reason for that as I am a hard-working person and money is very hard to come by. The fee should not have been that high and I should've at least been reimbursed for a portion as most places will waive the fee. Do not rent from this company as they are very condescending and don't care about the person as they are just a conglomerate. read more

I would rate this business as a zero star business if I could. I became a new tenant of this rental agency in November 2020. I've had issues with the air window units upon my move in here. I made Cincy Rents, Misty Sanders, aware of the issue upon my move in and this past June 2021. Trying to get the issue resolved with the property manager has been a hassle which it SHOULD NOT be. After sending a certified letter in July 2021 to the office in regards to the issue, the problem has finally been resolved. I do not feel valued as an occupant/tenant of Cincy Rents because of how long/tedious the process was. Management comes off as if they only care about money, not the tenant and wants to hold the tenant responsible for everything. Unfortunately, due to this experience, I will NOT do business with Cincy Rents in the future. I would highly, highly NOT RECOMMEND renting from this agency. read more

Found a house we wanted to rent. After reviewing the lease it did not align with us. We decided not to sign the lease and wanted our security deposit back. Turns out cincy rents has a hidden rule in their application process that says you forfeit your security deposit when you apply for a house. There goes our $1995. The owner of the house said he would give it back if we were charged $250. The agent, Misty Sanders, was very condescending over the phone before any of this happened when we were just asking questions about the place. read more

Wish I had seen all of these reviews before. I agree with the majority of people who say their customer service is lackluster. Not only was I yelled at on the phone, I was also lied to. My wife called for a work order on Monday morning, they didn't file it until the following day or so they said. If you are looking for very vague responses (asap) on when they think someone will come out to help you this is the place. If They don't have enough people on staff to fix these problems then they should look into hiring another maintenance person. read more

CincyRents listed a Oakley/Hyde Park property on Craigslist on a Thursday evening. I called Friday morning to schedule an appointment. CincyRents decided to hold an open house on Monday with Craig, so I setup an appointment for Monday afternoon. Misty told me that this wasn't a "first come, first serve" situation and that they do not do sight-unseen rentals, even though I was prepared to do so. I was told to wait to see the property and to then apply. Misty ensured me that applications would be reviewed by CincyRents and the owner after the open house. I knew I would be considered highly qualified and would not have a problem beating out the competition regardless of the situation, so I played along with their rules. I took Monday afternoon off to see the house. I viewed it with Craig and loved it, so he told me to submit the application because they would be deciding that night. I told Craig I would apply and send my pay stubs over immediately. The application is $40 PER person and they want to collect an excessive amount of sensitive data as well as your entire life story. After I left the property I noticed the property was no longer listed on their website. I called Misty and she informed me someone from an earlier showing already submitted their application and it was approved hours before it was even shown to me. She said she told Craig to stop the showings well over an hour before I was scheduled to show up, but I was never contacted. There were 4 other people coming and going while I was there - I guess they didn't get the memo either. Personally I think CincyRents was trying to collect more absurd application fees. I also think it was a partial bait-and-switch considering they didn't bother reviewing all qualified applicants after promising to do so. Regardless, I wasted my afternoon driving far out of my way when I should have been at work. I'm glad we saved $80 and learned a valuable lesson - don't rent through CincyRents. Renting in Hyde Park is stressful enough, they certainly didn't make it any easier. read more

DO NOT rent from this company. My husband and I rented an apartment from them for a year before buying our house and they were awful. Our washer broke and it took a WEEK for maintenance to fix it, so it was just sitting with standing water for a week. We were told when we moved in they would be replacing the original windows in "a couple months", which didn't happen until we moved out a year later. We took great care of the apartment, yet they still took $75 off of our deposit when we moved out- $25 for sweeping the entry floor and $50 for cleaning the oven, which was dirty when we moved in. Overall, this company does not care about customer service and I would never recommend them to anyone. I'm giving them one star because Yelp is making me. read more

The property I rented was on Stettinius Ave in Hyde Park. Its a very well maintained apartment building on a quiet street with a lot of nice private residences. There is parking behind the building and street parking is plentiful. Its also a quick walk to the square and easy to access i-71. The staff at CincyRents is very nice, attentive and prompt. There's peace of mind knowing that if you have a question or an issue that they will quickly get back to you with an answer or resolution. I would highly recommend renting from CincyRent, especially in the Hyde Park area. They're one of the few very trustworthy rental agencies. read more

Rude people. I broke my lease because they refused to fix my air conditioner, which was obviously broken. They told me it was not broken, and acted like I was dumb. It was the end of the world for them when I broke my lease. They are just money hungry and will get every last dime of yours. I forfeited my security deposit, paid for two weeks rent while the place was vacated, had to pay a cleaning fee, and paid for the carpets to be professionally cleaned. This place is a joke. They'll take your first born child if they really want it. read more

I was a renter of a Cincy Rents property for 2.5 years. Thoughout the duration of this period I had a major issue with the quality of the facilities. I had to log complaints about cockroaches at least once every six months and that issue was not resolved in my time as a resident. The fixtures and quality of appliances were well overdue for an upgrade and extremely difficult to both upkeep and utilize. I was very patient with the facilities and how they chose to deal with these issues, and on many occasions was told how pleasantly surprised they were with my upkeep of the unit I was renting. This is why I was very disappointed to see that upon leaving the apartment on good terms with the leasing company, Cincy Rents, that a third of my security deposit was withheld from me for various excessive cleaning expenses. I left the unit in far better condition than the condition I found it in (there was cat litter on the floors when I moved in for reference), and kept the until in good condition in my 2.5 years living there. I called the company to try to resolve this based on my patience with the company throughout my rental period with Cincy Rents, and they have not contacted me to come to a compromise. Unfortunately, based on all of my experiences with Cincy Rents and what culminated in very disappointing expenses incurred, I feel it is only right to make sure no other renters have to go through such a frustrating customer service experience. Anyone else who has had a similar experience with Cincy Rents should lodge a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Cincinnati. They do all the leg work and paperwork. Once tenants are moved in, we do the maintenance and interaction with the tenants ourselves. I live 1800 miles away and the the staff is very prompt in communication, the accounting is spot on, and they were quick to address any of my tenants needs. Will not be renting through Cincy Rents. We had a tour on Saturday of the place and sent in our applications on that same day, but come Tuesday the place was already given to another person. On Monday they requested all of our information including social security card and said that there were no other applications for this apartment that day. I find out on Tuesday afternoon that the place is off the market and we did not get the place that we applied for. So we were lied to by Misty of Cincy Rents and any of my other friends are making sure that they never work with Cincy Rents because the reviews of this company are accurate. I am appreciative that they took the $40 nonrefundable application fee, per person, from my friends and I and denied us the place because if we lived there, we probably would have gotten a horrible experience like everyone else. I'm grateful that I didn't send them a copy of my social security card because something about that request did not seem right. My friends were wanting to live in a place more central for our work places, but I think I'll just continue living in my apartment on the banks that is way better than any place this terrible company can offer. read more

I truly wish there were an option lower than one star. Where to start... 1. My apartment was broken in to, or should I say opened with a key while I was not at home. All of my jewelry (most of which was cheap, but important to me for sentimental reasons) was stolen. When I called them about this, they assured me that none of their employees would do such a thing, and no one also would have a key unless I gave it too them (implying that I was at fault for the theft). I insisted that they change the locks even though they claimed to have done that right before I moved in. After seeing the shiny new locks, I can say with almost 100% certainty that they were not changed before I moved in. So the CincyRents employees may not have been the ones to steal my beloved great great aunt's necklace (though they are still high on my list of suspects), but they are definitely responsible for dropping the ball when it came to changing the locks therefore giving someone access to my apartment who shouldn't have had it. 2. I called to have maintenance replace a window screen with one that was a proper size. Instead of replacing it, the maintenance guy simply screwed the overly large screen over the hole making it impossible the shut the storm window without unscrewing the screen when winter came. When I got home the maintenance man had also left me a note saying he had fixed some other windows in my apartment. NOTE: I had not asked for this to be done, and they were not broken. I had pulled the upper sashes of the windows down so that I could still get some airflow in the apartment without having to worry about rain while I was at work, and he closed them and, you guessed it, SCREWED THEM SHUT. Not how you fix something, in my opinion at least. 3. The washer shared between two units broke one winter. I called maintenance and they said it might be a while before they could fix it due to frozen pipes in other buildings. I tried to be understanding, but after 3 WEEKS of the washer sitting full of dirty smelly water, I called to check on when it would be fixed. I was very rudely reminded that compared to busted pipes, this was a minor issue and that there was a laundromat nearby in Oakley (I lived in Mt. Lookout). There was no offer to compensate me for the laundromat or even apologize for the day. Don't get me wrong, I can afford a laundromat, but I did look specifically for an apartment with a washer and dryer so I didn't have to go to the laundromat. Side note: the law for renters in Ohio requires them to keep all appliances in working condition, and be repaired in a timely manner. One month is not timely. The apartment was beautiful, and the location was great, but every interaction with CincyRents was unpleasant. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. As another reviewer stated, now that I have part of my deposit check back, I can hopefully prevent other renters from making the same mistake I did two years ago. My roommate and I had over half of our security deposit deducted for a cleaning fee after my family and I had cleaned the apartment and had the carpets shampooed. Additionally we had a fee deducted for a broken microwave door that was fully functional at the time of move out and never had any issues. They claimed the door didn't line up properly and deducted hundreds of dollars for what was probably a $35 microwave at best.They refused to show me receipts of the prices and companies used to "fix" these non existent issues. In the two year I lived there, we experienced an issue with the hot water, broken heater, broken dishwasher (which when installing the new one took a chunk out of the side of our wall), and broken air conditioning this past summer. The apartment was on the third floor and got to be over 90 degrees to which I had to go stay with a friend, because it was unbearable. For the two weeks I had to stay elsewhere, I was not compensated in rent reimbursement, and they claimed the window units they installed weeks later were compensation. During all this time without repair, they continued to ask to show my apartment, showed up without warning, and turned my fan on while I wasn't home, adding to my utility bill. After dealing with all of these issues, their rude and inattentive attitudes every phone call, days on end of not being in touch about maintenance, and finally, their false accusations about damage to the apartment, I hope that no one makes the same mistake I did. The intelligence, integrity, and empathy of this staff are evidently lacking. read more

Careful when renting from these unprofessionals. The agent that showed us a place, never got off the phone the whole time, avoided answering questions and was very disrespectful to the current tenants, not even thanking them for allowing us to see it or to ask if it was a bad time to stop by. They have one maintenance man, so it takes at least a week to get anything fixed. Then when you prepare to leave, they will nickle and dime you, requiring you to pay $10 if the stove top does not meet their satisfaction. And additional money for each side that is dirty, same going for the base boards in each room, each wall, each shelf they find dirty, and etc. They have a prepared list, broken down by each room with an absurd amount of money for any item that does not meet their expectation. And REQUIRE you to get a full service treatment of the carpet and mandate that you show a receipt before leaving. Funny because when we moved in the carpet was filthy and they refused to replace it. The fact that they are so picky and bent on getting every cent, makes me raise my eyebrows as to what they are doing. Glad we bought out our lease after six months and moved. I have never been so nervous of being cheated by a company. read more

Cincinnati Apartments Plus or Cincyrents is a property management company that I am going to stay away from as a renter. I have been renting apartments for about 10 years and move about every year to two years and have never had any issues getting a deposit back. A month after moving out I didn't receive my deposit but instead received a letter that they are assessing the cleaning charges; a month later a check for 1/2 of my deposit. When I called to complain and ask to see my move in checklist Cincyrents "didn't have one on file." They will not return phone calls or emails. The deposit was only one of the issues. Cincyrents' maintenance would not promptly meet maintenance requests. My heat didn't work 4 times last winter and I had to stay with friends because it was not promptly fixed. They refused to fix raising tiles in the kitchen floor, stating that it was because the building was shifting and by leaking kitchen sink had been "fixed" a handful of times and was still leaking when I moved out. Think twice before choosing a sketchy property management company like Cincinnati Apartments Plus. read more
