Amazing authentic Mexican tacos can be found here with an English speaking cashier and menu - it's…read morea "must try" spot!! This is one of those gems that only the locals usually know about. But it has grown in popularity and a favorite spot for NJ's Mexican population who travel here from all over the state for their tacos that remind them of home! You can watch the cooks shear the meat right before your eyes and load the meat into mini soft tortillas with onions and cilantro (and cheese if you ask for it). They stuff so much meat in these tacos that you can split each taco into two smaller tacos since they use 2 tortillas with each taco. Great for kids! You get 4 or 5 tacos per order which is less than $10. Incredible deal!! On your way out the English speaking cashier will take you to the refrigerator to pick out some sauce cups for you to take home. There are so many sauces to choose from. The orange one is really hot!!! You can ask her for help she choose a variety for me including mild. I would suggest getting between 1.5-2 sauce cups for EACH taco order. The dark red chipotle sauce was excellent too! I would suggest getting your tacos with cheese except the pork shoulder taco which comes with pineapple. I really enjoyed the tacos with steak or ribs the most. The chicken was great too! Highly recommend to try the food here. NOTE: This is NOT a restaurant. Yes there are a few casual tables here but seating but no waiters etc.

Holy forking shirtballs, everyone…read more Either El Molcajete has the best goshdang tacos I've ever had the pleasure of putting in my mouth or... actually, I've got nothing. They're sooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. I usually stick with 3 al pastor tacos (100% Mexican tacos in the menu) with some of the green sauce and some of the red sauce, plus a squeeze of lime on each. Perfectly prepared. Juicy and tangy with the right amount of pineapple and love, topped with some cilantro and some chopped onion. My wife orders the carnitas, which can sometimes be a little heavy on the fatty pieces, to her chagrin and my celebration. DE-LECTABLE. The tres leche cake is also BOMB in that they really do use a slightly dry/possibly day-old yet super flavorful cake for their recipe. Not sure if it's made in-house or not but kudos to that person, whomever they are. Because hotdamn, that tres leches gives me . The rice and beans is also a solid combo. I should note that the beans do come in an excess of sauce. More like a deliciously-spiced bean soup. I don't mind it, though it's not my preference. I enjoy the hoo-hah out of themthere beans, either way; you can bet your bottom dollar on that. One more time though, those tacos: I crave them several times a week, but I never get them more than once in a week. Not my choice. The love of my life doesn't care for tacos the way I care for tacos, so we have to meet in the middle. Unfortunately for me, the middle isn't always at el Molcajete, which is only a block from our home. I can't stress enough how good this place is. My only real issue is hablo español de mierda and I usually end up phoning in my orders. I just start off with an apology and ask for someone that speaks English, which, I know, guys: It's super shitty. If I love it so much, I should learn to at least be able to communicate my desires to the purveyor of my culinary joy. I'm bad, I know. I have some work to do. You're right. The only issue I have with this joint is an issue that I actually have with ME, so five forking stars, man! I hope you get to enjoy el M the way I get to, which is not nearly enough, but with so much gusto.

We were actually going to eat at a different place but we were dropping stuff off at Goodwill and we were close by and of the restaurants in the shopping plaza we decided to get Mexican. i It is clearly the choice of local people of Spanish descent perhaps for its authenticity. I must say that it's flawed in several areas. Although there's nothing wrong with the ambience or service the restaurant needs to be a lot cleaner, the floor was filthy. My wife had street tacos, she said the chicken was tasteless and dry. I had chicken enchiladas, and although not bad they were smothered in shredded lettuce for some reason which soaked up all the green sauce and I can't really eat lettuce right now, and I don't find that combination appealing with Mexican food. The black beans were very watery, so also not appealing. Sorry to say this is not a place we'll be visiting again.
