The social workers are spread very thin and not the best... There are staff that care trying to help. This hospital offers specially medical care that may not be available at other hospitals. My comments here are my personal opinion based on family member visits to this location. Be aware that hospitals are for profit. If you have good insurance they take note of that. The doctors will help if you can get a hold of one... You must visit you relative often and discuss care with the staff. You must discuss discharge paperwork in advance or it will not get done... The food on the floors for patients is just ok... Cafeteria food is a little better. Bring food for your relative if not on a special diet... The more you get involved the better the outcome here...

Grandmother went into the ER for a stroke. She got one single meal from the hospital over a stay of…read more5 days. We sat on the line for food for 45 minutes to no response, just to get told they changed the meal plan that day and nothing could be done. Even after that day she received no food from the hospital, we had to bring in food every time (just to get questioned). She passed her swallow test a half dozen times and still wasn't allowed solid food except for the first day when they gave her a full breakfast. Asked important questions many times (like if we can sit her up and feed her) to be told "we'll be back in a bit" and the nurse never came back. Multiple times my grandma herself, still recovering from a stroke, had to tell the nurses what the doctors said, which would clearly tell you nobody has any idea what's going on at this hospital. They botched her spinal tap and left her in agonizing pain for hours overnight and we had to call the nurses more than once to ask for painkillers. We got almost no updates about any step of her care and I had to ask her multiple times for basic information that should be provided to a family. A nurse also gave her a shot in the wrong place (her arm instead of her stomach) which left the specialist team appalled, and her arm almost unusable. On the last day, the nurse giving her a stroke exam literally threw her limbs around, violently tugging on the arm that she said was in pain repeatedly. At the same time she was nearly yelling at my grandmother to relax her arms which she was unable to do. This went on for 15 minutes. This is all not even mentioning the many times we were lied to or given otherwise incorrect information. If someone goes here and are not completely lucid and able to advocate for themselves firmly, the medical team will do what they want and leave them in pain without any assistance for hours. The nurses are usually pretty nice, but so understaffed that they repeatedly forget or omit basic care and comfort. As mentioned, we were told multiple times we'd get updates on what we can and cannot do, just for the nurses to not return. The only real compassion came from medical students. Lastly, visiting in the ER is hit or miss. Sometimes you'll be let back in 5 minutes if you have already entered, other times you'll wait upwards of 2 hours. Third day I was let in in under 10 minutes. I went out for coffee after a half hour and had my visitor badge still on. I went to get let back in and had to wait 2 hours just to "confirm with the nurse". All of that is not to mention the abusive and inhumane treatment of people begging for help in the ER lobby I saw. A man doubled over in pain sitting in a chair, unable to talk, had to be noticed by the police manning the metal detector and put in a wheelchair by them instead of the actual medical personnel. As expected, as soon as they got him over to help the nurse began interrogating him for his name rather than assessing his condition while he was nearly falling out of the chair and only able to grunt, while grasping his stomach tightly and struggling to breathe normally. All of this is specific to the ER, so you must keep that in mind. In all honesty if you have a serious medical emergency, you'd probably be better off staying home and booking an appointment for your regular doctor than going to UC health's "emergency" room.

1-Star Review Title: Corporate Dictators, Not Caregivers If…read moreyou want a healthcare provider that treats you like an individual human being, listens to your concerns, or collaborates on your care, stay far away from this office. I am a long-term patient who has successfully managed my blood pressure with Lisinopril for 30 years without issue. During my recent visit, I requested to temporarily delay elective, routine baseline labs because I am currently making major, successful lifestyle modifications and want my body to settle into its new baseline first. Instead of treating me like an adult or working with me on a reasonable timeline, the nurse practitioner became instantly militant, combative, and completely shut down the conversation. She refused to let me speak or explain my health timeline, and immediately resorted to coercion--threatening to completely withhold my critical maintenance blood pressure medication unless I complied with their demands right then and there. I had to demand a manager just to secure a basic 30-day refill so I wouldn't go cold turkey. When I escalated this to the practice manager, expecting professional oversight, he doubled down on the same rigid, "check-the-box" corporate bureaucracy. They made it completely clear: their mandatory quotas and insurance-driven protocols matter more to them than patient autonomy, dignity, or safety. This is not a patient-friendly clinic; it is a corporate medical factory in bed with the insurance companies to maximize lab fees. They don't listen, they don't collaborate, and they will gladly withhold your maintenance heart medication to force you into compliance. Save your time and your money, and find a real doctor who respects your rights as a patient.

The service is always good, and anytime, you have questions or need rescheduling your appointment, you can always call and solve your problem, which is very good. Compare with Shanghai, the hospital there is so busy, and you really won't be able to talk to your doctor or nurse on anything on the phone except you go to the hospital. What i don't like is every time i went there, it's a long waiting. Sometime i could wait for two hours for my appointment. I guess I'm an easy patient, never use more than 30 mins of the doc time. But i guess the nurse could schedule the appointment base on patient, some patient require more time, then give them more time. Just don't schedule everyone at 30 mins interval. My doctor has been disappear for almost a year now, i have been seeing the nurse practitioner two times this year, finally this time i get the new doctor! She seems nice. The next thing I know, I get a statement from a collection agency. I am going to keep sending my payment directly to TriHealth. I will keep my word and honor our agreement, even if they won't. Why? Because I gave my word. They went back on theirs. As I told TriHealth's CEO -- and the buck stops with her -- sending my account to a collection agency was unnecessary, and it was cruel. Is this really their idea of good patient relations? Do they really consider this "care?" Newsflash: it's ugly, it's hateful, and it's just plain wrong. She didn't even bother to reply. She didn't direct anyone to get in touch with me. She didn't try to make it right. She didn't do anything. I've never not paid my TriHealth bill -- in fact, I'd paid $100 a month on a previous bill until it was paid in full, and they didn't send me to a collection agency then. Why treat me like a deadbeat now when I'm not? Why don't they go after people who never pay a dime? Why treat honest, hardworking patients doing their best like dirt? They should be ashamed of themselves! I'd always considered Bethesda North the best hospital in the area. I made a point of going to TriHealth for all my health care needs because they felt like family. Now, it appears I'll have to find new health care providers. TriHealth doesn't seem to realize that patients do have choices. It's highly ironic that every time I'd call to make an appointment, the rep would say, "I promise to take good care of you." Those words are ringing very hollow now. The Board of Directors should do something about this before this CEO tarnishes their reputation even further!
