In relationships, we've all heard it's the little things that count. Well, this also applies to home appliances. Granted, the significance of your relationship might pale in comparison to the importance of your dishwasher; but often the former is dependent on the latter. I found this place through a tangled web of events first starting with my dang blasted refrigerator and the fine (not!) folks of Authorized Refrigeration & Appliances. Read about it here: http://bit.ly/uNLGGp The handle of my dishwasher broke because it's cheap plastic and that's just how life goes sometimes. (insert rant about owning home versus renting) Well, through the power of http://www.partwizard.net/ I found the part number and called up to confirm it was in stock and then went and bought the part. Easy. *This business is only open M-F 8-5 and Sat 9-12. Having hours past most people's working hours would be convenient, but if it's important, you can make the time or have a friend get it for you. *Cash Check, MC or Visa. Sorry Amex and any other CC's. *The parking on the side is small so you might have to find a side street. *The nice worker actually called me sir and asked to see ID when I handed him my credit card. Double kudos! *This neighborhood is semi sketchy, don't leave valuables in your car. (but you should never do that even in a nice part of town, I know this from experience.) I will be back (unfortunately??) as things always break down eventually. Fortunately you now know about this place and can "save the day" and possibly hundred's of bucks by DIY-ing it.

Part cost was under $60 a service call to fix would have been north of $150.

I'm in this location a lot lately. I used to come here only if I couldn't find what I needed…read moreelsewhere. But I have to say, things have changed and for the better. And I now come here first. The store is well stocked, clean and organized. Staff are everywhere so it's not hard to find help. And if someone can't help, they find someone who can! Huge difference! One of the managers Minuette (sorry if I spelled it wrong) is so kind and always working her butt off! But not only her, I have had the pleasure of getting help from many of the employees. Nikki, Dan, Chris, Celeste, Tessa, Jay, Bruce, and one of the nicest and most helpful I call Credit Card Chris. Lol He will get you $20.00 in free merchandise just for applying for a credit card! (If you're approved it's more, I think $100.00) It's a win win he says! The staff are incredibly helpful and treat one another like family. There are a couple employees that I saw in the freezing cold working the parking lot, and every single time they see me or my hubby they make sure to say hello. Now I look for them so I can say hello. You might be greeted by one of their Home Service providers like water treatment, Heating and Cooling-We just had them come out to our house to make sure our furnace was running good after a long winter. He did a checkup for $29.99. We got a clean bill of health lol.

I went here last weekend because I needed lumber to build a outdoor table with my roomates. We had…read moreall of the measurements and knew what we needed, but we had never built anything like this before and I don't think I have ever been to a Home Depot without my parents. We walked in and found the lumber section, everything was very well organized with lots of options, and I was really glad the pricing was clear and visible. After searching for a bit a worker came over to help us grab some items. He told us that he had a lot of experience helping other people build this table before and was ready to answer any and all questions. He also helped us find the right measurements and cut the wood for us. He was so incredibly helpful and super nice, it was amazing! I wish I had gotten his name! Overall it was a great experience, especially for a very inexperienced and intimidated person like me who barely knew what she was doing haha!

I grew up going to my neighbourhood hardware store with my parents. It was small and smelled like…read morefertiliser, but my parents generally came away with what they needed. Nothing exciting to see here, kid. As if by some cosmic stroke of fortune, the advent of the super-sized hardware stores (you know the ones I'm talking about so I'm not going to name them) coincided with the purchase of my first home. I'm not exaggerating when I claim to have spent HOURS in those stores -- looking at hundreds of faucets, light fixtures, paint samples, etc. it was like Yuppie Candyland. At this point in my life, however, I've come full circle on the hardware front. I don't want to spend 20-30 minutes driving to the superstore, and I certainly don't want to spend hours looking at all the products (That's want the internet is for!). Above all, however, I want to be able to talk to someone who can give me sound, knowledgeable advice about my project. Meet Brian, the owner of Ace Hardware in Clifton. "I'm restoring X --- what do you recommend?" He and most of his well trained staff have RARELY failed me. "Use this type of primer, that type of paint (always Benjamin Moore because it's the best), this o-ring, that turnbuckle, this filter, that electric mower." I'm not saying that I never go to the superstores -- Ace can hold only so much--but this is always my first stop, and like my parents, I come away more often than not with exactly what I needed.
