So the food comes out, two orders one with flour and the other with corn - tacos great, missing the Barria consommé for one order, I asked the server who dropped off the food for another Barria consommé thinking he would just bring it he didn't say a word about the up charge. I'm back with another one!! Let me just say I feel this place may be a bit underrated or in the wrong place because the way EVERYTHING was GOOD!! It sits on a hill in a plaza. So parking definitely was convenient. We actually parked right in from of the entrance. It's at the end of the plaza so it has outdoor seating as well. THE SERVICE...was exceptional from the moment we walked in. We were greeted and taken right to our booth (without reservations). Our server was Italo. He was AWESOME! Y'all know I don't dine alone, I need my peoples opinion so y'all know I ain't biased. So my husband had a mango drink, I had a mango/passion fruit drink (you have to ask to get it mixed. And that was at the recommendation of Italo), and our daughter had a sprite. Italo was very attentive and gave the BEST recommendations. Let me tell you the glass that our drinks came in were HUGE! I posted a pic next to my arm so you can see how big it was. MONEY WORTH IT! THE FOOD...my daughter isn't a huge meat eater, so she got the cheese quesadillas with rice. As well as cheese nachos. The cheese used for the nachos was queso. SO GOOD. My husband got the shrimp fajitas that came with rice, beans, salad, and tortillas of his choice. He's not a big tortilla eater, so he opted out. Now for my food! OMG! It was so simplistic BUT SOOOO GOOD! I got the mango salad with grilled salmon. (Yes, I love mangos if you haven't noticed). Italo recommended adding the salmon and man...WAS HE RIGHT!!! At its first appearance it looked like it was not seasoned and just a grilled piece of salmon, but listen...this is definitely a case of 'don't judge a book by its cover!' It came with a side of mango dressing and ranch dressing. I used the mango. That first bite and every bite after felt like an explosion of flavor!! MAN! I thought I was tripping so I asked my husband to try it and his eyes shut...haha! I call that pure bliss!!! THE AMBIANCE... So nice! The decor definitely made me feel like I was in an authentic place, it set my expectations for just that. Very clean. Because it wasn't a lot of people in there, I felt that I may have been a bit too loud or needed to watch my tone. They have TVs around. I would say that it's a good spot for families. This place is great until about 8pm. They will start closing and make you feel so uncomfortable until you leave. During the week their hours are open until 9:30, but anytime we've been there past 8:30, they are pretty much kicking you out and wiping down bar stools next to you. It's terrible! This is one of our new favorite places. We came here years ago. It was terrible. New owners took over. We tried it again . The food is great . Everything is fresh and made to order. The staff is outstanding. Last time we had the Coctel De Cameron and Steak Chimicherri. We had them add shrimp to the Chimichirri. The pieces of steak are cooked perfect. Very tender! Went here with wife for a date night. We had been here several years ago and really enjoyed it. This time around not so much. Food was good. We shared an appetizer of avocado rolls, delicious and very filling, a little greasy but dang good. We also shared an entree of mango habanero chicken, which was also good, very tasty. The mango mixed with habanero on a just properly cooked piece of chicken mashed into a pico de gallo sauce, yummy. The appetizer was pretty big for 2 medium sized adults, we couldn't finish it , maybe because it came at the same time as the entree, which was a little small with side of rice. Service was slooooow. We sat outside, this was about 9pm, no lights. They had lights, they didn't work. We didn't want to move inside as the guy providing live music was very good but LOUD unless you sat far away, so we just asked to be moved close to door so we could see food. Of course, this took many minutes and several different waiters we asked because ours kept disappearing and not coming back. Terrible..... There are 2 other Mexican restaurants within 5 miles in either direction. Los Magueys or LA Parilla... We visited this location for the first time on Cinco De Mayo.. We expected a wait due to the holidays, but that wasn't the case. As a party of 3., we were sat immediately. We ordered drinks then waited for a while to order food... again this was expected. We ordered shredded chicken nachos, fajitas nachos and the fried Chipotle burrito... after 20 minutes, they brought out the shredded chicken nachos and the fajitas nachos.. They also brought out a chicken fajita that we did not order.. I advised the waitress, and she was super apologetic. She the reodered ordered my fried burrito and it came out about 10 minutes later.... it looked amazing but unfortunately it was beef and I ordered chicken.. I told the waitress not to worry about replacing it.. As you can see, both chicken and fajitas nachos are not appetizing. Have been coming here for awhile now at least once a week and enjoy the food however the service here is hit or miss, mostly a miss. Today when we ate here for lunch we had 2 seperate parties at our table both of which had a coupon. They allowed one couple to use the coupon at our table and not us even though the checks where seperate. When we first arrived it took 20 min just to get waters. The waiter had to come back to our table multiple times to ask about our order after taking it the first time. We had to ask multiple times for plates, refill of water etc. I had to walk in and track down someone to get me a Togo box I had already asked for, then my husband had to go in and find someone to pay for our meal since the waiter still hadn't returned. When I went in they were just standing there talking with the manager that was sitting at a table eating. The chips in my nacho supreme were burnt, as if they had been sitting under a broiler for too long and the taco shell on my wife's steak fajita was stale. But that wasn't the worst thing. I was really surprised at the rating of this place! I've started coming here about once a week because the food is always delicious. Probably one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. They have a nice variety of food to choose from. The chips and salsa are really good and have a little spice to them which me and my boyfriend love. I highly recommend the fried chipotle burrito it is absolutely delicious, as well as one of their appetizers called the chorizo cheese fries. The staff are very engaging and always attentive. The food is just your average fare found in almost every Mexican restaurant. Went tonight for trivia Tuesday. On arriving told the hostess we wanted to participate in the trivia as well as eating. Replied that that wouldn't be a problem. We were seated in another room apart from where trivia was done. At 7 o'clock we asked the waitress if they were doing trivia and she replied that they would bring the slips needed around. We got done eating about 7:20 whereupon I got up and went to the other room. Trivia was underway. No one ever brought anything to our room (4 rooms in the restaurant). The cheese dip with puréed pickled jalapeños was awesome to start. I had the Grilled Chicken Bambasa (chicken, rice and cheese dip) the rice is so fluffy and full of flavor.
