Had some delicious empanadas from Pedro's at this year's Bay View Bash. I have an "always get…read moreempanadas" rule and it almost never lets me down - this was no exception. The cart had tamales & tostones which looked great (and based on Rick's review I probably should have grabbed a tamale) but my "empanadas 4ever" rule was in effect so I got 3 tasty pockets of goodness for $10. There were probably 6 flavors to pick from but I ended up with spinach/artichoke (sounded interesting), beef picadillo and meat/potato. I loved them all - each was good sized, well filled and full of fresh things. The standout for me was the picadillo one but honestly, I just wanted to get right back in line and eat empanadas until someone called the rescue squad. The folks working were really hustling to keep the line moving and were super nice. If you see this cart and pass it by, you're not living your best life.

Mazorca Tacos is a food truck located at the Zocalo Food Truck Park. I've been here a few times,…read moreand each time I come I eat tacos, despite the fact there are other food trucks with food I will eventually try. : ) Each time I've been, there was a small line. The tacos here are full of flavor and fresh-tasting, each time I've visited. They are served on small corn tortillas. They are only about $3 each, with a vegetarian option also. I usually eat 2 or 3 but others would need more. I've tried the Al Pastor, Bistec, and the Chicken. You can grab a beer at the tavern or try one of Zocalo's offerings, such as Topo Chico or Coke in a glass bottle. Once you get your food, you grab a picnic table to eat. When I was there a few days ago, they had covered picnic tables, which can be reserved in advance. Otherwise, the tables are first come, first served. There are other food places at Zocalo to try. This is one of my go-tos for tacos. A friend was coming to visit Milwaukee form Chicago and asked me for some reasonably-priced places to eat. Guess what I recommended? This place. : )

LOVE! It was Sunday…read moreevening, I needed dinner, and did not feel like cooking. For maximum choices (because I literally couldn't figure out what sounded good), I went down to Zocalo. While perusing the many food truck menus, I decided a chicken arepa sounded like just the thing. They have a QR code on their truck that makes ordering easy. I ordered a chicken arepa with jack cheese, garlic sauce, and sweet plantains. My gosh what a delight. The garlic sauce added the perfect punch to the shredded chicken and the sweet plantains offered a nice sweetness that gave it a balanced flavor that was just off the charts. The prices are reasonable (12ish dollars for an arepa) and the service was great. My arepa came out piping hot and delicious. Get to it!
