I was impressed enough that I texted three friends photos, told my wife to start planning our son's birthday party here, and was actively asking managers about upgrading to full access because I had just discovered the larger "Adrenaline" area. For context: it's Indiana winter, it was cold, and I had a hooded sweatshirt on with the hood up because I was freezing. During my 2 1/2-hour stay, I spoke with two managers about memberships--neither said a word about my hood. While walking around trying to keep up my child, I heard someone off to the side say, "Take your hood off." I approached the man, who asked me politely. I politely asked why it was a rule. His response was shocking: "So I can see your entire face on my 50 cameras." This was 11:30 a.m. on a Friday, not a packed weekend night. I turned away to continue looking for my child, removed the hood, and muttered "whatever dude" under my breath. That's when the situation escalated wildly. He charged toward me, yelling: "I'm the owner--if you don't like it, leave!" I had already complied. That wasn't enough. He then shouted: "I'll give you your money back!" And finally said something that truly crossed a line: "If there are off-colored people with hoods up and we ask them to take it down, what would that look like?" I'm still trying to understand why race was brought into this at all. Let me be clear: * The facility is great for kids * The staff and managers were wonderful * We were not leaving anytime soon until this happened But the owner's behavior was aggressive, unnecessary, and completely inappropriate. A simple rule explanation would've sufficed. Instead, it turned into a power trip with racial commentary that had no place in the conversation. Rules are rules--but how you enforce them matters. I'll take the refund. And I'll take my business elsewhere.

They were super friendly and patient. One guy even anticipated my needs had had the next size up in skates ready for me when I came back to get ta bigger size of my kid. We brought our own skates and were bummed to find out you had to pay to skate, even if you didn't need to rent skates! We paid $10 for each of us, which isn't bad. The night we went, they had "cosmic skate", where all the house lights are turned off and there are dim colored lights cast on the ice. It was a cool concept and something I never experienced before. The Arctic Zone has Sirius XM for their radio and the staff had the "coffee house" music station on. We were finally exhausted of the less than energetic music and asked if they could change it to something more upbeat. They did and things got more exciting! We will probably return sometime in the future, but will try out other rinks first.

The Monon Community Center is amazing in so many ways. I love the variety of the gym equipment available, even though I mostly only use the ellipticals. I love the knowledgeable instructors who teach the yoga classes; some of these people have had such an impact in my life. I love the friendly people behind the counter who are supremely helpful and kind every day. This is a peaceful and clean and welcoming gym for everyone. It's a play to get healthy and stay healthy physically and mentally.

The roads are a little confusing if some of them are one way or not. The waterfall area is quiet and pretty. They had some picnic tables. There was a staircase to view it closer and the stairs were a little sketchy. The beach area was pretty wide and we found space. They have a little snack area and a dive center. They also have an inflatable obstacle course for purchase. The restrooms were messy and smelled. The beach was clean and they had trash cans. The quarry water was clear and the water was nice. They have primitive camp sites and electrical sites. We saw that most of the electrical sites seem to have full time residents there. Overall it's a great spot to check out and relax at.

The staff were friendly and took safety very seriously. They do a step by step instruction class to properly put on the safety harness and helmet and make sure you know how everything should be tightened. There is a brief practice course with additional safety guidelines. My niece and I went to celebrate her 16th birthday, and she had an amazing time. We worked up a good sweat with the varying obstacles. I would highly recommend it to be able to spend some time outdoors. You can take your backpack to the starting point they have benches set up where you can leave your gear , I noticed the family had purchased and they had brought lunch which I thought was a great idea. There were probably 2 other parties going on starting at the same time, so it took several minutes to figure out what we were supposed to be doing. We were told to load our coats/shoes/gifts/party favors/cake on a big cart, which someone then took upstairs to the party room. When you do an open complex party, you can roam around the entire place: Main-floor gym - mostly gymnastics equipment, plus a climbing structure with a foam pit you can jump in. Upstairs play area - has two zip lines (not too high or too fast - the 6-year-olds in our group were fine on them), an inflatable bounce house, and some smaller climbing toys for toddlers. There's also a basketball court area, but our group didn't venture over there. The party area was clean. Tablecloths, plates and napkins were included in our package. We had pizza (decent - sort of reminded me of grade school cafeteria pizza, but the kids ate it anyway), and the kids could go and pick out a bag of chips and a drink. The favor bags included a plastic cup, pencil, a couple of pieces of candy, and a coupon for an open gym visit. The birthday girl or boy gets a tie-dye "party at the plex" t-shirt. So I'd recommend bringing your own favors! You supply your own cake. Birthday balloon bouquets can be added for $25. Tip: have your guests print/sign their waivers at home so the kids can get in and start playing more quickly.

Great resource for students. Not for staff…read more Staff can pay for memberships to the CoRec, but I no longer recommend it for staff. In the fall of 2025, something changed. The corec used to have a family locker room. The name of the family locker room has been changed. It is a small change, but indicative of the overall policies changing. In addition, the pool hours changed to be completely unusable for families. I used to give my son swim lessons at the co-rec, pools, but now, he cannot go because the pools are open at such weird times. Moreover, the pool workers are no longer friendly to families. When my son was 4, they let me take him in the hot tub for up to 5 minutes. It was a nice treat for my son after he did swim lessons. At 5 years old, they said he could stay for up to 15 minutes. I never let him go above 8 or 9 minutes out of caution. I was always with him. The last time I went to the co-rec, my son was 5 this fall, we got in the hot tub like normal. We were told to leave the hot tub because kids under 15 are not allowed. I pointed to THEIR SIGN hanging up that says 5 and up. They said, "I'm sorry that policy is changing. We are no longer allowing kids in the hot tubs." I said that we would stop going in the hot tub out when the sign and the website changed. Then I had 10 lifeguards escort us out of the pool area. My son was not loud or splashing or rambunctious in the hot tub. He was chilling and calm. Yet they insisted the new policy was no children at all. Shortly thereafter, they changed the pool schedule so families cannot use any of the pools. By changing the pool schedule to be unfriendly to families, they also make it significantly harder for students to use it as well. I stopped paying for the corec and take my son elsewhere to swim--places that are family friendly.

Excellent pool and lots of big gym rooms, well maintained and clean, the co-rec is the only decent athletics option on campus. This building was renovated from a tiny box to a decent size yet already bursting from record numbers of freshman past years. But the main problem is for us alumni! Why are we being charged for having already spent, in my case, fifty four thousand dollars on Purdue tuition? I would definitely make this my gym in the whole area but the hours are too short and this place gets way too busy during the semester. It is the worst of all worlds.
