Traveling from Denver to SEMO and decided to visit Ciao based on reviews. Unfortunately the waiters recommendation of the Sea Bass was a very bad decision! The description is amazing the reality is: French fried onion straws over a bland expensive fish, over what appears to be an instant Risotto with chives and corn! Seriously, the chef could have added a little cream and herbs to make this Risotto a little more exciting! Here in Cape G another week and may try one more time as the ambience and music is delightful! read more

My husband gifted me with a wonderful birthday dinner at Ciao! We are new to SE Missouri - drive up from East Prairie, and had never been to Ciao! It was FABULOUS! The drinks were ice cold (I recommend a raspberry cosmo!), and the crab cake appetizers were deee-lish (Wish an order had 4 cakes vs 2!). I had the sea bass and lobster corn risotto - which was out of this world! And my husband loved his braised short ribs, too! The service is impeccable! And as a crème brûlée connoisseur, I can honestly say Ciao's is one of the best I've ever had! It's pricey! And some of its patrons are a little too impressed with themselves. Ciao is a quaint restaurant and wine bar in Cape. The staff and management do an amazing job of making sure you feel well taken care of. The chef serves wonderfully tasting courses that look as beautiful as they taste. We started the meal this trip with Brussel Sprouts appetizer that was cooked perfectly. The Halibut entrée was just amazing with a nice cream sauce that was not too heavy to offset the taste of the fish. Dessert was Crème Brule!!! It was so good you should start with that to make sure you have room for it at the end of the meal. read more

Great Italian food in Cape Girardeau. Food is fantastic. We had Bruschetta starter followed by a nice house salad with blue cheese and locally sourced tomatoes. Main course was a lamb chop special which was the best tasting chops I have had in quite sometime. They have a huge wine list. read more

Came here for Easter Sunday. The place was packed. They served brunch for the special occasion ( Easter ), the food was so good, Pappardelle braised beef was very delicious and my husband had Cornish hen which was very tasty and tender. The antipasto station was well executed with plenty of delicious food and the desserts station was a wide variety of Italian dessert, we were in love with lemon cello ( house made ) as well as tiramisu. Service was wonderful! Scott was very sweet and attentive. Kitchen Staff & Chefs were very professional and look neat & clean in their uniforms. Solid dining choice for Cape Girardeau. Better than average service with friendly servers and a hostess who makes the rounds ensuring everything about our meal is just right. A fairly large menu is available to please almost any palate. Our food was well prepared and very enjoyable. Two things keep this restaurant at 4 star level for me. One, although everything was good, nothing out of the kitchen really wowed me. Valentine's Day Surprise ....a service flop!! So disappointing! Reservations for a table of four that arrived on time(7:00 PM), walking in with an empty waiting area and seats available for a restaurant that came highly recommended and very desired by one of our party. It took 1 1/2 hours to receive our meal and when the member of my party who had been looking forward to this evening at Ciao's got up and went to seek an explanation, the implied response from the employee, " It's Valentine's Day, what did you expect?" We expected a more a concerned, caring response that better aligned with the service standards Ciao restaurant advertises they represent. As a result of this costly disappointment, both financially and in our memories of this special occasion, our expectation forward, we will never again look to the Ciao restaurant as an acceptable choice for dining or entertainment. A customer expectation of respectable and responsive service can never be too high of a standard for any occasion or service provider. We had a wonderful dining experience here last night. I had the seafood ravioli and my husband had a pork chop. We had stuffed mushrooms and split a wedge salad with dill dressing as our appetizers. Everything was absolutely delicious. There was live music and the seating was intimate. Our server, Scott, was very attentive and shared great recommendations with us. I love good food and give props where deserved. Our service was horrible by Scott, "did I get you those drinks yet?" And "did I ask you if you wanted more drinks yet? (To which the answer was, yes, he already had). Two tables next to us arrived after us and were served appetizers and entrees before we finally asked where our appetizer was. And then the food arrived. We got the most expensive entrees on the menu which were cold and poorly prepared. I would have rather thrown $170 out of the car window. Delicious, authentic Italian restaurant. The meatballs, which are the chef's mothers recipe, are delicious as a starter. The pastry is also very good. For an entree the fettuccine is my favorite. However I've samples the lasagna and Cornish hen, both of which are very good. Their tiramisu is the best I've ever had! All in all, a great experience. I come here fairly often with a group of 6-10 colleagues and it's always a good time. We like to split a bunch of appetizers first - the appetizers are definitely the best parts of the menu. The beef carpaccio, flatbreads (especially when they have the pear special), burrata (not even up there with some others I've had but burrata is by definition amazing), and salumi e fromaggi are all great to share. The entrees don't usually wow me but are all pretty good. I like the lamb in particular. The only one I didn't like is the seafood linguini. Great, friendly service. What a fantastic dining experience. I came here with my family, four of us total. We enjoy trying different foods so we order several items and planned to share. Everything was outstanding. My favorite, the squid ink pasta. Beautifully al dente noodles, with a nice garlic butter sauce. Just a squeeze of lemon and perfectly tender seafood. Shrimp, scallops, mussels, and crab meat, all precisely how they should be prepared. Best restaurant in Cape Girardeau, hands down. Two friends and I had dinner at Ciao at about 7:00 on a Friday night. The place wasn't crowded and we were seated quickly. The decor is nice and everything appeared to be very clean. The service was outstanding and our waiter, Tyler, was very knowledgeable about the menu and had wine recommendations for us. We started with a bruschetta appetizer. The bread was crisp and topped with small balls of fresh mozzarella, halved grape tomatoes, and arugula. The order came with three pieces and was served over an arugula salad dressed with olive oil and shaved Parmesan cheese. Delicious. I ordered one of the specials, seafood ravioli, and it was great. The ravioli was light, the white sauce was divine, and the pasta with topped with tomatoes, asparagus, scallops and shrimp. Unbelievably good. One friend had the pappardelle with sliced chicken and mushrooms in a light garlic sauce. The pasta was fantastic and whole dish was wonderful. My other friend ordered the salmon special and then had to fight us off because we tasted it and it was so amazing. The salmon was roasted and served with beautiful roasted vegetables and a light herb vinaigrette. I would recommend this place to anyone and I cannot wait to go back. Mangia! read more

Where do I start? Tables are so tiny and right on top of each other. If you don't drink alcohol, don't come. Only thing you can drink is water. Their bread was so bland and gross. Ordered 2 steaks. I had the Cesar salad that was very good and the Mussels which tasted as good as my favorite place in San Francisco.
