Staff was nice and food was fine, except for one dish. We had a shrimp pasta come out cold with raw shrimp so one at our table just ended up sharing dinner with the rest of us.

Lets be honest, little honey Loves Ciao Bella so that's that and we've been in enough times deserving to bump up and rewrite the review. And while there's been a few not so good experiences here early on long ago, these last many, many times we've been in have all been really, really good and safe to say hospitality's been really, really Niceville. You can expect small misgivings and the food's not going to be spectacular, spectacular but we've enjoyed everything thoroughly in a casual sort of way. I know that's not going to make sense to everybody, but it's like going to eat at your sister's house. Comfortable and good enough to overlook the short comings. I like that there's never really been a wait, we always seem get a good table, and parking's easy ...but that's largely due to timing; I see they get busy driving by. Sort of late to the plate, but when someone gives you a prescription for happiness, you fill it.

14" Rústica. Very good and too much for two people.

One of the better local places we've found since moving to Niceville. Easy for Bluewater Bay community. Nice staff, good food, and reasonable prices.

Bruschetta is amazingly simple but fresh. Best ever had anywhere in US or Europe. Shrimp #80 is divine.

She was engaging and fun during our the entire dinner. If excellent food and wonderful service is what you are looking for? Don't waste any time. This year there was just a party of 6 of us so it was easier to give a food review. Everyone had wonderful meals that consisted of Linguine & Mussels, Tom's Pasta, Linguine $ Shrimp, and three of the bacon wrapped tenderloins with squash risotto which was a special for the night. A cannoli was ordered to go. Everyone reported that their meals were delicious. The three of us who had the tenderloin special were amazed and we agreed that it was just as good as what you get at a Ruth Chris Steakhouse but half the price. The steaks were topped with a screwer of 3 perfectly prepared steak and topped with an onion bourbon sauce. The squash risotto was perfectly prepared also. The cannoli was delicious, not too sweet. Our waiter was awesome and I wished we had gotten his name. He packed up all our leftovers and was knowledgeable about questions we had on the menu. He has great customer service skills. We look forward to visiting this restaurant again. They don't open until 5 pm Tuesday-Saturday. We visit the area 4-5 months a year so are limited to our visits. Wish they were open for lunches.

On arrival we found when we got there that one couple inside seated at our table were waving to us but the windows are tinted so we couldn't see them. We saw another table arrive doing the same thing which brought a chuckle because we knew their friends could not see inside. We entered the building and there was no hostess to greet or direct us but the place is not that big so we were able to find the room our table was set up in. We had heard that martinis were a special for $5. I was all set to get a chocolate martini or some other flavor but when we got the drinks menu there was one Expresso Martini on the menu and I don't like coffee so I decided on a Long Island Tea. Others in the group had wine or beer. Price wasn't bad and we got a happy hour discount. There was a red pepper soup served as part of a meal-or salad and 6 of us had the soup, which was delicious. Tasted like an elevated creamy tomato soup and made you wish you had a grilled cheese sandwich to dunk in it. After our soup/salad there was a little wait for our entree's. The following report on the entrees found the grilled chicken salad with avocado, sliced almonds and feta Cheese was delicious with the chicken tasting like it was grilled on an open flame (maybe it was as we could smell char grill when entering the restaurant). The 4 lasagna eaters all agreed that it was very cheesy and lacking substance. They said you had to really dig deep through all most too much cheese to get to two layers of noodle and a little meat and sauce but it tasted good. They felt the online photo was misleading. The meatball sub was huge - like a foot long toasted bun with two very large meatballs, not something you could fit into your mouth but had to eat with a fork and knife. It was tasty. The spaghetti and meatballs and French dip had their plates cleaned and enjoyed their meals. The Nonas meat loaf was ok. I like my own homemade betterThe mashed potatoes creamy and I appreciated the ala dente fresh broccoli served with it. There was a comment that usually when you go to an Italian restaurant they serve you some bread but none was served here. My husband told me after we left that the chandelier right above me was caked with dust. Hopefully they have a spring cleaning coming up. The restroom was clean.

The chicken was tough, the batter tasted like it was fresh from the bowl (goey consistency ), and the sauce looked and tasted like it was heated up. But as the saying goes: never judge a book by its cover. We were absolutely blown away by the experience. Despite the modest exterior, the food is nothing short of world-class. I ordered the ribeye, and it was cooked to absolute perfection--tender, flavorful, and easily one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. Since we were a large group, we ended up ordering a significant portion of the menu. Between us, we tried the fish, shrimp, and various pasta plates. It felt like we sampled almost everything they offer, and every single dish was an absolute hit. It's rare to find a place where the entire table is equally impressed with their meal, but Basil & Baxter's pulled it off effortlessly. Beyond the incredible kitchen, the service was outstanding. The staff was attentive, welcoming, and handled our group with the kind of professionalism that makes a night out feel special. If you're in Niceville, do not pass this place up. It might look humble from the street, but the flavors and hospitality inside are massive. We will definitely be back!

I'd heard great things about this spot being a local go-to several years ago, so I was looking forward to a solid meal with our large group. Unfortunately, the experience just didn't live up to the reputation. It was exceptionally quiet--perhaps because it's the off-season--but even with the lack of a crowd, the food and service were underwhelming across the board. A lot of us ordered the burgers, and they were just "okay" at best. I went for the one topped with pulled pork, thinking it would be a highlight, but it really didn't work. The flavors didn't mesh, and it was a structural mess--the whole thing just broke apart and became a struggle to eat. Across our entire large group, I don't think anyone was super impressed with their meal. The service didn't help matters, either. We ordered several cocktails, and they were consistently either late or just plain wrong. Since it wasn't a very busy night, there wasn't really a clear reason for the lapse in attention. It's a shame because the setting is beautiful, but between the hit-or-miss drinks and the lackluster food, the whole night felt like it missed the mark.
