My mom and I go to Chuy's about once a week. We love their appetizer the Chicken Ponchos' with everything. We split it. The best thing is not just the food, but the husband and wife team, LaDonna and Barry. We always ask for them. The next best thing is the creamy jalapeno dip. To Go service is excellent as well. I have always gotten home with everything I have ordered. A+++. The only draw back is that some of the servers wear daisy duke shorts and personally I do not mind if a server wears shorts, I know it gets hot in the restaurant but really, they should be longer and more decent This is a family restaurant not Hooters. read more

TL;DR Review: I had one REALLY GOOD experience here, but we've had a lot of bad ones too... The service is usually really pitiful. Ask multiple times for drinks, not get what you're supposed to get all at once, have to ask multiple times to get it (like the guac/salad/pico plate that comes with fajitas), get drinks spilled on your kid by waiter. You know, fun times at restaurants. THIS time was awesome though. Our server was Jasmine (or maybe a European Spy?), and she MURDERED it. She anticipated our every need. We asked for NOTHING except for more tortillas, which were in a closed container that she couldn't be expected to anticipate our being out of. She was courteous, thoughtful, funny, and fast. My Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken was AWESOME. Just spicy enough, crispy skin (is that a potato chip breading?), and so flavorful. The salsa/jalapeno ranch dip they gave us was good too. No need for cheese dip. My daughter had the burger from the Kids menu, and my son had tacos. They both ate everything for once. I can't wait to go back and see if their service can be consistently good now. The reduced star on this review reflects the previous bad experiences. So I go to Chuys about 2-3 times a week to grab lunch before heading to work. I always go at the same time and I always have the same person taking my order. Her name is Butter Cup or that's what people call her. She's amazing and I absolutely love her. She's always pleasant and always smiling. They will let you sample the sauces, allow you to mix and match sauces on your meal and make some suggestions about what combinations are good and which ones ... aren't. If you want to experience the magic of Chuy's, grab one of their huge burritos, cover it with the sauce of your choice and get ready to become a fan. This place serves Tex-Mex and NOT Mexican food, so don't review it and say it doesn't taste like authentic Mexican food. That being said, this chain does Tex-Mex well and it warrants a visit. I ordered the steak burrito and felt like a fatass after eating only half of it. I did go overboard on the unlimited cheese dip (cheese dip station is available between 4pm and 7pm, Mondays to Fridays), so it didn't take long for me to enter "fatass territory." The burrito has a nice spicy kick to it. It might be too spicy for most kids, but I wish they can make it spicier upon request. Honestly, even if I hadn't gorged on cheese dip, the burrito portion is huge and could've been shared. Since this place is new, the line is ridiculous. We arrived a few minutes before 5pm and it was already an hour wait. I've had this some places that just melts into a large pile of cheese and oil. This tasted fresher. And I love Hatch chili peppers! There were only two other tables with people. The waitress looked hurried and was not very personable. When you are coming through to check on my please stop and make eye contact. Don't just shout out "is everything ok?" as you cruise on by without stopping. If I wanted something I'd still have to flag you down. And for god sakes when its 75-80F out, or any temp for that matter, offer my dog a goddamn bowl of water. I don't ask for much. It's pretty standard to after to well behaved dogs. I also tried the steak burrito, which was huge and was seasoned nicely. I didn't get to try the flan, but my sister did and she loved it. The sopapilla was light and airy and tasted great, although I think it could've stayed in the fryer a bit longer. Waiter was very attentive, even when it was super busy. Overall, a great place for some tex-mex. They have happy hour from 4-7 on weekdays with free nacho bar (queso, meat, beans, etc) and discounted house margaritas.
