My roommate and I checked out chuy's last night and it was legitimately the best Tex-mex I have had in a long time! The queso was amazing, and the churros were literally like a mariachi band dancing in my mouth! Joe was our server. He was so funny and friendly and attentive, we gave him a 40% tip and wish we could have done more! We loved the atmosphere too. Being a car girl, I loved the hub caps on the ceiling! Food was solid, chips and salsa were okay but like that's bare minimum. The inside decor made me want to run away- so we sat outside. Our server was nice but somehow we were brought the wrong food, might not have been her fault but someone messed up. I would recommend eating somewhere else if you have literally any other option. Tex-Mex is all about fun, and that is the overall feel of Chuy's. The moment you step into the place, you are surrounded in Technicolor. There is a little bit of Americana and Mexicana culture right there in the décor, from the Cadillac car bumpers to the alebrije coloring to the beautiful black-and-white family photos from way back. Let's also talk about the service. There's a personable feel and we've had the same waiter twice, and have experienced first-rate friendliness each time. Then there's the food. My favorite? The chicken flautas! My husband and I also agree, the queso is the best we'vre tasted in any establishment that serves Mexican or Tex-Mex in the Char-Meck area. The refried beans are creamy and flavorful, something I normally don't associate with refried beans, but Chuy's sides dishes are just as amazing as the entrées. First time trying Chuys today (3/14/21) and can only review my curbside pick up experience. Really easy ordering on their site, parked in the curbside parking spot and from there I had my food within 10 minutes. Ordered a taco plate with refried beans and rice. Because this is a chain restaurant wasn't expecting much as far as the taste of the taco shell but was pleasantly surprised that it tasted like it was made from scratch.....I could actually taste the corn! Not sure what the white sauce was that came with it but I could taste cilantro and it had a little spicy kick....whatever it was it was delicious. I always thought this place was a pretty cool spot to grab a bite with the family. I'm a sucker for the pictures of the dogs all over the bar area. The food was good, overall. I have the stuffed Avocado which was stuffed with a cheese and supposedly chicken. I couldn't tell there was any chicken however, the cheese was plentiful. The avocado was breaded and fried which I could have done without. Anyone that knows me knows I am an avocado feen and I prefer mine old school - no frills, no sauces, no distractions. I'm not complaining about it because I clearly knew what I was ordering. I liked the sauces and the margarita was well made. The margarita tasted like it was scratch made. I didn't see if it was or not by DJ Toots or T Crush or whatever the bartender calls himself did a good job. He was a little mouthy and dropped a few vulgar bombs while telling a coworker a story but I was in the bar section so I didn't think much of it. The Chuychanga was nicely fried and stuffed with a decent offering of shredded chicken and cheese, then topped with crema and plated with a side of super-smoky charro beans and a classically seasoned pile of Mexican rice. Sadly, the Shrimp & Cheese Rellenos were so overstuffed with chopped cilantro, you couldn't taste any of the interior ingredients. The fried crust on the exterior of the massive Anaheim peppers was freakishly crunchy - almost like Corn Flakes - and peeled off in one giant sleeve of shell-like goodness. Still, the cilantro -packed into the peppers like grass clippings in a lawnmower bag- completely spoiled the dish. The Elvis Green Chili Fried Chicken saved the day with its quirky deep-fried chicken breast breaded with Lay's Potato Chips and smothered in green chili sauce and a sprinkling of cheddar cheese - certainly a dish worthy of "The Kang"! The boozy margaritas help wash down the bagged tortillas and watery pico de gallo-style salsa - we were unimpressed with the rather flavorless guacamole. read more

I've been to this franchise before & thought it was an OK experience. I went for a Sunday lunch & had very mixed experience. Our waitress, Brandon was very nice & explained the menu options. We both decided on the chicken tacos. When I got mine, there was 4 tiny pieces of chicken. When we told our waitress, she was very apologetic & said she would fix it. The Manger came over with added grilled chicken & apologized. The topper was when she brought my check, but it was someone else's credit card. Then we had to go on a search to find my credit card. We've been big fans of Chuys for over 25 years, but it's definitely gone downhill. We stopped going for a while because the service was just awful. We went again about a month ago and it showed promise of improving... until we got our doordash order today and everything tasted stale, the flautas had some pinkish ground chicken mix in them instead of the roasted chicken we've always had, etc. Just disappointing. read more

The first impression when we walked in was, questionable. The food rating was 90.5. I personally believe that it should have been 80.5. 4/7 of us didn't quite enjoy our food. The chips were average. The setting was ok. I saw plenty of dust everywhere. They weren't sanitary at all. The waiter we had was Jess, it was an bad job. The waiter didn't even listen to our specific adjustments we had added to our order. The waiter also seemed like they were ignoring us. Took our drink and food order. 35 min for our food to get to us. It was a Saturday night, so not really complaining there. Once our food got out, we realized we didn't have any cutlery. Waited and waited before our waitress came back around. Finally asked for some. About 5 min later, another waiter came by and said Sorry, we are out of silverware. But you can just use these. And set down plastic cutlery in bags with a napkin and I think salt/pepper. I was like I'm NOT going to eat a $15 per person meal with plastic. I want silverware. So we sat for 35 min (no exaggeration) before I saw someone in the back bagging up silverware. I figured our waitress would bring it out. Nope. I had to track her down again and ask for some. By this time our food had cooled down a good bit. I would have figured someone would have just hand washed 2 sets and brought them out instead of what did happen. Sheesh. Like I said, food was pretty darn good. Wasn't impressed with the portion size I received either. Guess this place is just a one visit show for me. Update: The store manager made contact with me and offered us a free meal to let us give them a second chance. The second visit was MUCH more pleasant and the service was great. Hmmm... ordered through website and drove up to pick up. Ordered three Chicken Quesadillas, but no chicken. Called to tell them, they said they would refund the price difference. I waited over 2 weeks called again two days ago and they did finally refund me 3.42 for the chicken. Nothing else. My sister love this place so she brought me here since I just relocated to the area. I noticed Tex Mex which I haven't seen in a while. I've traveled around the world especially to Texas and fell in love with Tex Mex back 20 years ago. First the salsa was definitely fresh, she also asked for the jalepeno dip and I ate that more than the salsa. We ordered frozen margaritas which were not too strong but that was expected at $5 for the special. I ordered a drink and a half and didn't even have a buzz. My sister got the chicken quesadilla and added jalapeños and it was so good. We also ordered dessert which was awesome. We noticed there was a free nacho bar and lots of pictures of dogs on the wall. Retro, energetic and fun. Chuy's is a blast from the past. Kara, our server, was very good and patient with us newbies. The Chips and salsa starter is pretty tasty. The chips were warm and very light. And the salsa has a nice little kick. I was hungry so I went with the chicken burrito. With burritos, you can pick your sauce. I'd sugguest taking the sauce your online ahead of time so you don't hold others in your party up. There are several, maybe five or six to choose from. Kara had to help me. I went with the deluxe tomatillo sauce. Excellent choice. It was a creamy white sauce; I wasn't in the mood for a red sauce after salsa. Burritos are HUGE! They come with a choice of rice. I selected Mexican rice. The dish was very tasty. It was just too large even for my hunger status. I probably finished about 3/4 of it before waving the white flag. read more

I've been to Chuy's before but just not at this location. We came here on a friday night and there was a 45 min to an hour wait. Eh, ok we will wait. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks. They have a nacho bar from 4-7 and it was fantastic. That definitely made time go by fast. We probably waited about 45 mins and got sat at a booth. Our server was very nice and gave good ideas on food. Burritos are huge and fantastic. I got the appetizer sampler. It was good. Came with an assortment of food. I noticed I had 1 quesadilla but I saw a picture on yelp for this location that someone got 2. No biggie. Salsa is very fresh. Jalapeno sauce is also good. I already have in mind of what I wanna try. I love this place. I was first introduced to Chuy's at it's origin - Austin, TX. My sister moved there and every time I come to visit, she makes sure we at least eat here once. My favorite dish there is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Pulled chicken in tortilla smothered in green sauce (boom boom sauce), rice, beans, tomatillos and jalapenos. Drink of choice: Tito's Cherry Limeade..........Tito's Vodka another Austin staple. (if you like Sonic's Cherry Limeade, this is your adult version) Always get the queso with the chips. I do like the salsa the chips come with. I often mix queso with the salsa. Atmosphere: It's eclectic, it's loud, it's Elvis - in true Chuy fashion. I still don't know what Elvis has to do with all this, but there was a shrine in the back where we sat. Service: We got seated quickly on a saturday night. Seems like it's a go-to place for family dinners. Lot's of families / groups there. Staff is quick and friendly. Parking: Again, we went there on a Saturday night, parking was packed. Encountered a jerk that was racing to find the next available parking spot going 90 mph. So maybe try to avoid the "rush" hours? I can't believe I didn't know this place opened right near my house sooner! I came on a Tuesday night and sat at the bar with a girlfriend. We had a great time chatting with the bartenders and owner, even though they were crazy busy. I had a frozen margarita and it was delicious and CHEAP. We ordered queso and it was to die for. For entrees, we both had the enchiladas with the boom boom sauce, it was so tasty!!! We had a great time and I was excited to come back which leads to a tale of great triumph. I dragged my husband here on a Saturday night and since I had seen it crazy on a Tuesday I was expecting the worse. It had a crazy wait at 6:45 and we just went in to see the wait time. We were right behind a disgruntled middle aged man who dramatically hands the buzzer back to the young hostess and tells her "I give up". She politely asked if he wanted her to check his party's spot on the list. He says sure and she come back from looking at the list and I saw the most awesome thing I've ever witnessed at a hostess stand. She says so politely with a smile on her face "sir, you got here 5 minutes ago and I told you the wait was an hour and 55 minutes". He just looks at her and embarrassing leaves. You go girl! Went to go get some margs & food and the bartender looked at me and my friends IDs and told us that the star on my friends ID didn't look "real"??? So she said she didn't feel comfortable serving us.... I asked her if she could scan the IDs and she didn't say anything.... Won't be back! The area first of all let me say is everything where it's located.The bright colors on the outside draws you to want to come in and try it out so i did. Im giving up on eating out at Mexican restaurants that aren't authentic, i wanted to give it another try. Staff was more than friendly but i don't feel like this is a place i would frequent again. I have been here before but not dined in. Amanda was our server this evening. We came for the celebration for May 5. She was unpleasant from the start until she took our plates. She was however - kind once she handed us the bills. Let me give you a few examples - we would ask for napkins or small plates for what we needed and she would mumble "sure" under her breath. Other time (s) she came and laid a dip on the edge of the table and the person who requested it almost knocked it off of the table, because they had no idea it was there! She made no attempt to be friendly or welcoming to us. We understood that tonight was probably busier than most due to the celebration - however we paid just like everyone else. The gentlemen who brought our salsa refills was much kinder. We wanted another round of drinks, but didn't want to be made feel as if we were bothering her. We went on a Sat afternoon around 3:00, and it wasn't really crowded at all. Walking through the restaurant, my husband thought that the floor could stand to be cleaned again and the sides of several tabletops needed to be wiped down more thoroughly. Once seated at the table, the server was quick to greet us. We both enjoyed our meal, and their chips are my favorite type: thin and crispy! The salsa that came with the chips was really, REALLY good. I had 2 chili rellenos: roasted chicken and ground sirloin, that came with the usual refried beans and rice. Normally I don't care for rice but decided I would give it a try. It was seriously good and I'll get it again. We will be back, for sure. read more
