I was in town for a concert and swung by Chuy's afterwards. It was busy, but we were greeted immediately by the very friendly, smiling staff. We loved looking at the dozens and dozens of framed dog photos on the wall near the bar! Our food was ready fast, the order was accurate, and everything was delicious!! My only negative: the parking lot is a nightmare! Pack your patience and drive carefully.

I ordered takeout and the portion size was MASSIVE! I decided to do the appetizer sampler and it was delicious. I got soooo much food and it was fresh and well made! I definitely would come back, the service was great and the staff was very friendly and the restaurant itself wasn't massive but it was nice. Definitely and great vibe and good food, my platter was $15 which was a great deal for the portions. I definitely will be back

Everything i had here was very tasty. Was able to get a burrito which was plentiful. Chips and dip was free with my meal.

I've been coming to Chuy's since before Elvis was scrubbed from the menu and before covid ended the free queso bar. I'm a serious Mexican food lover and can say without a doubt.. if you're looking for authentic Mexican food you wont find it here. However, if you are looking for fun Tex-Mex then you'll love it. The first thing I fell in love with was the Elvis Fried Chicken (now named Green Chili Fried Chicken). I'm not sure if Chuy's got sued by the Elvis Estate but thankfully the name change didn't actually change the dish. It comes with a chicken breast breaded with Lay's potato chips & fried to a golden brown, served over green chile sauce, topped with cheese, served with Mexican rice + refried beans. Its bonkers delicious but the green chili sauce is a tad on the spicy side so if you're not great with heat.. maybe leave it on the side. I've since graduated from the fried chicken to regularly ordering the "The Kings Memorial Combo" which comes stacked with a seasoned ground beef enchilada topped with Tex-Mex sauce, a chicken enchilada with tomatillo sauce, a cheese enchilada with ranchero sauce, a crispy beef taco, homemade tostada chips dipped in queso, served with Mexican rice + refried beans. I know that sounds like a lot.. and it is... which is why I love it. Another notable mention would be the steak burrito which is labeled as "Big as Yo' Face" for a reason. Its a monster sized burrito meant to be eaten with a fork that comes with a flour tortilla stuffed with delicious grilled steak and jack cheese, topped with hatch green chile sauce, served with Mexican rice + refried beans. The chips and salsa never stop coming, the Jalepeno ranch is so good it should be labeled a national treasure, and the service is always great.

The Elvis Presley memorial combo

The atmosphere is a lot of fun and the portion sizes are great for the price. We started with the house salsa (spicy) and our waitress brought some ranch out that was quite tasty. I ordered the comida deluxe and was able to take home leftovers to make 2 meals out of it. It was a good amount of food for the price. I can't say the flavors blew me away or anything but it was fine. My husband and his friend ordered the Elvis Presley special which was actually a LOT of food. They enjoyed. The margarita was tasty and the prices were reasonable. I didn't like the boom boom sauce at all. I guess I was expecting something totally different with a name like "boom boom". If you're on the fence, try it before you order an enchilada drowned in it. We had great service but the food was just a little lack luster for me. But I'm also not used to going to chain tex-mex places. Try it for yourself!

Oh Chuy's, how I wish I could love you like so many. Cheese enchiladas had absolutely no cheese perhaps they ran out - plenty of peppers and onions wrapped in corn tortillas. Should have asked them to swap the ranchero sauce for queso. Even out of the can Costco cheese would've been better then the dryness that were my sad enchiladas. The bright spot was our server. Apparently staff can dress however they like and she was seriously a good server. I don't remember her name. I was distracted by her pink hair and hot pink neon leggings. The ambiance is kitschy. It seems like a family establishment or 50+ looking for the happy hour drink specials. I may try it one more time and order the shrimp tacos which someone had at a table next to us which looked pretty good.

Terrible experience. Carson was the worst server I've ever had. He forgot most of our order and it came out incorrectly. I had to reorder several items we had ordered. At the end of the meal had to continually remind him to bring items like togo boxes and bags. When ordering for the nibblings I ordered soft drinks for them and he brought them. When it was time to pay he charged us for each beverage and then when I asked about the charge he said I ordered full size drinks when I only ordered the drinks because they came with the kids meal. I also didn't ask for the large size beverage for the kids. So beware when ordering for kids make sure you get a kids size beverage. After waiting so long for him to bring the items to pack our food togo Carson had the nerve to accuse of us not paying on the app. I had to show him on my phone the successful payment and he still didn't believe me and had to check his system. I was completely horrified and embarrassed! Everyone in the restaurant was looking at me and as the only brown people in the building it felt kinda of racist. I will never return to an establishment that treats its customers like this. Chuy's 7314 Waverly Walk Ave Unit E8 Charlotte, NC 28277 (Review 704 overall and 49 in 2022)

I ordered the carne asada and was genuinely excited, but it was a letdown from the start. They never asked how I wanted the steak cooked, which is a huge mistake. Then they covered the steak in cheese--why? That completely overpowered everything. I couldn't even taste the chimichurri. A suggestion: grill the steak properly and serve it simply. If you need cast iron, use a skillet--not a cast iron bowl. Don't drown it in cheese, and please don't cut my steak for me. I'm a grown adult and can handle that myself. On the positive side, the service was on point--our waitress was amazing. The inside was clean and had a kind‑of Mexican vibe going on.

We arrived around 130p and sat downstairs even though it was nice out and there's an upstairs bar, they said it was not available... There is a dedicated parking lot and street spots as well. It's a bright and colorful space with vibrant decor. We ordered an assortment of breakfast and birria tacos. I enjoyed my tacos especially being able to order à la carte, but the service was a bit slow even though it wasn't too busy or crowded. I would give it another chance for lunch or dinner. I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.

If you're looking for a spot with a high-energy vibe and a killer aesthetic, Superica in South End…read moredefinitely delivers. I visited with a friend on Cinco de Mayo, so as you can imagine, the scene was absolutely chaotic. The wait was a staggering hour and a half, but Superica handles crowds like a pro. They have an outdoor bar and a grill setup serving: * A limited taco menu * Chips and Queso This was a total game-changer. It's a genius move that keeps the "hangry" at bay while you soak up the South End atmosphere. Once we finally scored two seats at the bar, the service remained impressively steady despite the holiday madness. * The Vibe: 10/10. The restaurant is beautiful and definitely fits the trendy Charlotte mold. * The Food: To be honest, I wasn't blown away. Given the hype and the stunning decor, my expectations were sky-high. The flavors were "decent" and felt like a solid performance, but they didn't quite hit that "must-return" level of deliciousness. * Portion Sizes: Huge! I couldn't finish my meal in one sitting. Here's the interesting part: The food actually tasted better the next day. It traveled well and the flavors seemed to settle in overnight. If you can't finish your plate, definitely take it home. Is it worth the South End gas and the hour-plus wait? For me, I'll probably stick to my "old faithful" spot up in the University area for my routine taco fix. However, I'm willing to give Superica the benefit of the doubt. It's hard for any kitchen to be at its absolute peak on Cinco de Mayo. If I find myself back in the neighborhood on a quieter Tuesday, I'd give it another shot just to see if the food can live up to that gorgeous interior.
