C'mon now... some places don't even give free chips and salsa.... New York City charges 10$ for that.....While service by staff is a bit spotty don't think that warrants low stars, especially when the quantity and quality of food is that good.. The best bang for buck is the FAJITAS FOR ONE. TORTILLAS AND SALSA ARE HANDMADE IN RESTAURANT. The Fajitas for One ($13-$14.50; the price of this has steadily increased from $12 back in the days) includes tortillas (comes with 3 but can ask for more), rice, beans, veggies, cheese, tomatoes, and guacamole (PROTIP substitute sour cream for another scoop of guacamole). Ridiculous amount of food. My friends ordered the Comidas Deluxe plate and the Chikka Chikka Boom Boom (two other Chuy's best sellers). A friendly hello as we entered, followed by the ask -- booth or table. Table please. We were offered a couple choices, I chose option #3. All worked well. For late afternoon (4pm 'ish) there were quite a few occupied tables. Casey came over to greet us and take our drinks order. Friendly guy. Back with the drinks and to take our order. I asked what did the green colored font indicate, he explained those were the most popular items. Cool, okay. Individual (two) bowls of salsa arrived with chips. We really liked the chips, they were thin and crispy. The chunky salsa really had a kick to it, and I just couldn't stop eating it even as my mouth slowly caught fire. The husband ordered the beef fajitas, no beans and don't double up on the rice. I ordered the Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom enchiladas, substitute a side salad with cilantro-lime dressing for the rice and beans. Casey was real attentive with us and the surrounding tables, he kept busy and continually had a friendly and helpful attitude. Plates arrived, "be careful ma'am this plate is a little warm" and we looked over our feast. Casey brought the flour tortillas and a small plate for the husband, refilled the water glasses, and passed the cup of salad dressing to me. We both enjoyed our meal, so good and filling. The crispy tacos were great and the beef was seasoned very well. The refried beans felt a little sweet, but it worked! We got our food out within a few minutes of placing the order despite it being packed. The queso was very watery and almost tasted like hamburger helper? Our server, Destiny (who was AMAZING) very kindly took it back for us and brought us another sauce to sample just in case we'd like to order that one next time we came in. My only wish is that their drinks were better. They are almost $10 and they are very stingy with the alcohol. The coronaritas aren't even filled up all the way. They only fill your glass half way. My favorite spot to get a frozen margarita and complimentary chips and salsa, you can find me here at Happy Hour at the bar. During HH they also have a complimentary nacho bar, where you can get of course chips and salsa, as well as queso, ground beef and refried beans. I usually either go for a large strawberry or lime frozen margarita but I think next time I'm there I'll actually try their TX-tini. The location is always busy, and the staff are usually good. Really disappointed with the service tonight. We came in about an hour before close and were sat with Christopher. We ordered drinks and he offered a limited time flavor, but failed to mention the $1.50 upcharge. I didn't realize the upcharge until after he gave us the check, which was about 15 minutes after we were done eating. He also didn't prebus the table or take any empty/dirty dishes. Free chips & salsa all day long. The creamy jalapeño sauce is like no other. Ask for it with your chips and/or pour it on everything!! My favorite go to meals are the Baja Tacos, Famous "Big as yo Face" Burrito, Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom, and Chile Rellenos. Great combination meals to try a verity of foods. 2nd visit to this very busy location. They have a decent number of booths, tables, and barstools available in the bar area, if you are not looking to wait. There is also something they call a "nacho bar" in the bar (for bar patrons if I understand correctly), but it looks like nothing more than chips & salsa. Nothing special there. On both visits here, we sat in the bar. The service is not speedy in the bar, but it can be described as reasonably attentive. This appears to be a great option if you do not mind all the portraits of dogs in evening gowns adorning the walls. So, Chuy's is a bit on the quirky side, right? It really does look like someone in charge of decorating is 100% not a cat person...just sayin'. The strawberry margaritas are awesome, and at $5.50 each, very affordable. Compare that to a $9.50 pomegranate margarita. As I have said before, ask for the creamy jalapeño dip for your chips. It is life-changing. I also think their chunky, homemade salsa is awesome, but my companion was not as thrilled. I like the fact they are not ashamed of a little heat on the table. I noticed they have daily "suggestions" on a flap of the menu, but I am not sure if these are available every day. Anyway, this visit we ordered the Combo Fajitas for two (about $25). I came out quickly and with that requisite sizzle. You get your choice of charro or refried beans and traditional or green chile rice. The green chile rice is quite good. An important note: if you are going to oder the Fajitas for Two, make sure you are not occupying one of the tiny tables because this is A LOT of food! It covered the whole table!. Everything was fresh & seasoned to perfection. The beef was moist and sliced across the grain, as it should be. The chicken had a great flavor, but it was slightly over-cooked. The hostess tried to sit our large party of eight at a table for six in the very back by the restrooms- passing up a couple of eight top tables along the way. Maybe because we had kids? The hostess was not happy when I asked for a different table and reluctantly led us back to the front. Our waitress gave us two small bawls of salsa for our eight top to share, what the what? The salsa tasted like someone had dumped salt in it. Asked for another one, she said the manager said the salsa was not salty. Since it was still sitting on our table, I'm not sure how the manager tasted it. The waitress also brought unsweetened tea instead of sweet tea. She finally brought out the correct tea near the end of the meal. Food was cold. My taco was very wide on the bottom and completely crumbled on the first bite. I Love this place! Today was my first visit ever to Chuy's. When walking on, I was pleasantly surprised by the cool atmosphere and decor. If you Love Elvis Presley and dogs like I do, you will love it. The chips are thin, crispy, and fresh, so I enjoyed more for my calories. The salsa is tasty but not hot what so ever. I ordered cheese Chile Rellenos w ranchero sauce, rice, beans and a side of queso. It was delicious! To top it off, I ordered a frozen lime Margarita and Corona Light with a lime. We tried to celebrate a birthday here and it was disappointing. (Don't expect anything special on your birthday, because they don't do anything.) The first thing we noticed was a disgusting piece of chewed up food that was stuck to the back of the seat. Then we were disappointed with the limited menu because it is little more than a bar menu at happy hour, even in the dining room. Lame. The server had some kind of disgruntled employee attitude on this particular night. She's probably a great employee and might have been having a bad day, but she could have sold at least two more rounds of drinks if she had ventured over to the table. We eat out a lot and haven't run into a "perfect storm" like this very often. With all of the great Mexican restaurants around this place, there is no reason to compromise your dining experience with bad service, filthy seats, limited menu and the congested parking lot. read more

The hostess said, "we weren't prepared for this!" as I walked in. Fortunately, my companions had snagged a bar area booth. My wait was short. My server as a bit odd. He looked like a stoner "Mr. Steal Yo Girl." He was possibly high, or maybe just very strange. Either way, it was quite interesting. My party did ask for a couple of extras (like a side of creamy jalapeno, a chilled glass), which never came, but it certainly didn't ruin the visit. This guy was certainly quite busy. I get it. I most often order the veggie enchiladas and they did not dissapoint. I am one of those that when I see "mixed vegetables" I am saying "please PLEASE not squash and zucchini!"
