    1/2 lunch chicken
    Erica H.

Went in for the lunch special, main woman at the register does a terrible job of explaining how it works . . Got an eye roll, and a whole lot of attitude when voicing my confusion about this after paying, waiting, and receiving 1/2 size plain chicken for $1 less than the tikka masala dinner( which is what I was inquiring about in the first place )

Chutneys is very friendly service. The food is kind of odd and not flavors that I'm used to (maybe it's a different region?) and I wish I took a picture of it. It's not bad, good for the price and could be passable but if you are really craving Indian, I would go to samosa house for curries.

Stopped by on a whim. Good food. Decent price. Would go again. Might not be my first choice. By hit the spot just fine.

Good flavor on the food. Probably will come back again. I suggest ordering in-person because the online prices are pricier.

I'm from India and love to try new Indian restaurants! This gives me the opportunity to compare and find the BEST Indian restaurant in LA. Customer service: I was pleased with the customer service that I received on this day. I was greeted with a warm smile which is always nice. Ordering was easy and the host kindly made suggestions from the menu. Portion: As mentioned, I've been to MANY indian restaurants and the portion at this location was 3/10. I was surprised to see how LITTLE the servings were and still felt hungry after leaving the restaurant. Flavoring: I would give this place a 5/10 for flavor. It's not up to par with my expectation. Not spicy and kind of bland to be honest. Parking: Parking is definitely a 1/10. If it's a busy day, you won't have any luck with parking. It's too tight and small. * I would not consider what I ate to be Samosas. Those resemble sambusas and don't taste exactly like what a samosa should taste like. The Dosa also was more like injera and not a true dosa texture. I will not be returning to this location but happy to have tried a new place.

We have been coming to this place for a few years now. In a very small lot so parking is scarce and area is not so great either. As many people have mentioned, customer service is horrible. They count out the number of plates and napkins you get. One per person, except kids don't apparently count as people. So one per adult. We normally go here for the nihari, which is decent. The naan is fresh. We ordered the beef seekh kabob this last time around and that was meh. We had to ask for some chutney, at which point we were handed two small containers to grab ourselves. I think better if we just took our plates over instead.

Amazingly fresh . Loved the hot naan and accompaniments. My first time here. Will bring my indian and non indian people here for sure

I love how big the naan is that they give you. They make it fresh too. Even though I've tried a bunch of their skewers, this time I tried the fish karahi, which came with my choice of naan or rice. I chose naan. It was really good but it was a little too spicy for me. The cashier told me they could add yogurt the next time around. However, what really stood out is how the fish was cooked. I feel in American restaurants, fish is just cooked in a way that makes it just taste ok. However, at like Chinese restaurants, they really know how to make the fish taste amazing and have it be so plump and juicy. They make their fish like that here! The juicy and plump way where you're just like, "Wow I just want to keep eating this!" I also got a chicken roll too which is fried and crispy. Good appetizer. They also have water for free here too but I didn't see the dispenser so I just brought something from my car in. The ambiance is cozy here. Nice seating area. Worth visiting if you want really good LA Indian food and haven't been spoiled by extraordinary SF Indian food.

The seasoning and spices were on point. Great flavors, the right amount of heat, and something you can't really get elsewhere. My main issue was the quality of meat. Since this is supposed to be an affordable lunch spot, the meat was lower quality and really hindered the dishes. Too much fat, too much skin, too much gristle. I would love to see these spices on higher quality meat, that to me would be a 5/5.

For drinks I had the cucumber mint lemonade. It's their newest drink. So delicious! It's cold, refreshing, and delivers a burst of flavor in your mouth. A must try! For food I had the chicken tikka masala (mild), half rice, and garlic naan. They also give you a small side salad. The garlic naan was the best I've ever had. So moist and not burnt like a lot of other places. You can easily pull it apart with your fingers as it screams, "eat me! eat me!", with delight. The chicken tikka masala's flavor was amazing! I like to try things mild first to see how they taste. Some places serve bland food and mask it with spiciness. Not here. The flavor is all there. Next time I think I'm going to adventure on the wild side and try the medium and then possibly the spicy. The included salad was simple yet so satisfying. The dressing is definitely unique and packs a punch with the spice level but... I like it. *wink* *wink* hahhaa. The rice was perfection. I hate it when it's not cooked enough and too mushy or overcooked and hard. Originally I was going to eat half tonight and then the other half tomorrow but... I know myself. I would just go to bed, wake up in the middle of the night thinking about it, then not be able to go back to sleep until I finished the rest because it would keep calling my name from the kitchen. Hahahaha. I didnt get to see the inside because I got it to go but I'll let you guys know in an update. The staff there is great and they seem like a very nice family. As I've always said, I'm a huge supporter of family businesses. I'm soooo happy I gave this place a shot. I am not only coming back, I'm definitely going to have them cater some of my parties. Enjoy!

The owner is from Afghanistan and has a huge attitude problem! His responses are rude and doesn't feel like friendly specially when he is busy and you ask him for something simple. Problem is that there is no server here and the owner himself work as a server, order taker, and at the front counter as well. Of course, customers will be asking him for everything and he just can't handle that and shows his temper. When he is not busy and you talk to him then he will be all friendly and act nice. This is not how he should run a restaurant if he doesn't want to hire more people. We ordered a lot of food. Mostly, all of the BBQ items were good as well as Nihari. His food can be spicy even with a mild request, so watch out for that. Naan was good as well. We ordered chicken biryani and it did not taste good! Felt like it was a day old and did not taste good at all. Ordered paratha and did not like that either. It is much pretty the same as his naan just a fried version of that. This is not how paratha should be. He brought nihari but no condiments with it. When I asked for it only then he brought in with an excuse that it is only available upon request to avoid any wastage! What? Wastage of few garlic and mint leaves? How about wastage of other food? Should he bring that only upon request also? So many food and there was no salad or anything like that. Again, when I asked for it, his response was, "I have onions, did you want that?" I was shocked yet again and just continued eating to not ruin experience for my family. Among so many of us, he only brought 1 tray of mix chutneys. When I asked for another one he rudely told me he doesn't have it and just walked away. This was another shocker as I can clearly see a full set available at another table after the diners left. After a while he came back with a tray with an excuse that one of the chutneys is out. Again, a lie! It is just that he was busy and did not like my request. He brought utensils but no spoons. I had to ask for it and he reluctantly obliged. On the receipt, there was an unlisted service charge automatically added without telling us or our permission. Why not clearly list that upfront instead of sneaking that in? Overall, I will not go here again because of the poor customer service and nothing special to die for. There are other good food and good customer service restaurants in LA and there is no need to come here and suffer. Owner definitely has to change his attitude if he wants to survive and successful.

Even my 17-year-old, who usually only prefers homemade Indian food loved it. Here's what we ordered and my thoughts: Papri chaat - The papris was out of this world, with the perfect crunch and a rich, buttery flavor. The chutneys, potatoes, and chickpeas complemented it beautifully. The only small downside was that there could've been a little less yogurt. The sweetness level of the yogurt was just right, but it slightly overpowered the dish. Maybe a thicker drizzle of yogurt would balance it even better. Tandoori wings - Yum, yum, yum! They were perfectly seasoned, spiced and not dry at all. A couple of pieces were slightly overdone, but we didn't have time to think about it because they were so enjoyable overall. Everyone at the table loved them. And a special mention for the cilantro whipped cream, oh my what an unexpected concept! The flavor was a solid 10/10. The texture took a moment to get used to, but once I did, I couldn't stop eating it. Onion bhajjis - We ended up ordering these twice, which says it all! My son couldn't stop eating them. He's never even had pakoras before so these were an absolute hit!!! Chicken tikka masala - The best I've had in a long time. great balance of tangy and spicy flavors without being creamy. Generous portions of chicken and it was tender. I could've happily kept dipping my naan in the sauce all night long. Naan were alright! Slightly flat and overdone, but great with the sauce. Chai - we loved it so much we ended up having 3 cups each! Perfectly spiced and just the right amount of sweetness. Poutine - A bit underwhelming overall, but the masala potatoes were delicious. Honestly, I might have enjoyed it more without the gravy and chicken. Seekh kebabs - kebabs were tasty, but the sauce didn't quite work for me, it was salty, thick and didn't complement the already rich kebabs. I would've preferred them with sweet and green chutneys and maybe a pinch of chaat masala on top. Parle-G & malai kulfi - More than a perfect ending to a big meal. My son loved the Parle-G sandwiches--thank you for introducing him to a classic from my childhood! The malai and cardamom kulfi was delicious. Our waiter was super awesome!

The water was also very tasty and served in a jar that was easy to refill, and our server took really good care of us.
